If gambling is going to be more positive or negative in a gambler's life, it will depend on his personal characteristics and choices as individual.

True, most people gamble like that, however a great deal of attention is given to those that end up addicted to gambling, even if their numbers are incredibly small, and when the majority can enjoy an activity and do so responsibly then it would be a huge mistake to try to ban it just because a minority cannot deal with it, after all the costs of banning gambling are way greater as the number of addicts will most like not decrease, the people that could gamble responsibly will be mad about it, many people will lose their jobs and the government will stop receiving taxes from the industry.

Someone who's relying upon his luck won't go far in gambling unless you hit that jackpot one time and that's a tremendous amount of cash or BTC or any other supported altcoins that you've won. It's like hitting that jackpot for the first time and you are not even expecting it.
