Welp the demo is finally in my hands and got the new build for wix from vh. Where you recommend I start with frequency and voltage?

Also keep us posted on number of units we can run through a hub as we'll upgrade our "3pac" pre orders to a hub with more ports at no extra charge.

Also, looks like I was mistaken about how many - or more specifically, the total expected hashrate - which can be run off one hub. Looks like frames to the hub can combine multiple device frames, and one frame can hold six work packets, so the peak theoretical hashrate for hub'd miners would be six times the peak theoretical for a single connection, or roughly 15TH.

Of course I'll be testing this as soon as I have enough devices. And then I'm gonna giggle like a little girl and post awesome screenshots.

Until then, y'all will have to be satisfied with this magnificent six-hour runtime of six pods on one GekkoScience Base Hub and powered by a GekkoScience DPS1200 PSU kit.

I'm re-running them now, all still at V7 and plugged into Tester 3 via a single GS 7-port hub. Should let us know what's the practical max.



We are seeing similar, UNBELIEVABLE results using the latest vh/gekko build of cgminer! These R606 Pod Miners are certainly a force to be reckoned with, especially for the very tiny amount of power consumption!

In addition to much higher hashrates, the latest vh/gekko build also seems to be much more stable. I am currently mining at nearly 1Th/s with the R606, and using LESS THAN 100 Watts of power (according to my cousins "Kill A Watt" digital meter).

I am curious as to why we are not sold out when it comes to something of this caliber!?

Just grabbed a screenshot from one of the testers. I pulled the first six production pods to run them through the wringer and get statistics on max hashrate per voltage setting so we can get a better idea of performance and deviations.

This is the ones on Tester 3 (connected through a Plugable 7-port hub), voltage setting 7 (max), on VH's latest r606 branch build, powered via 6-pin from a DPS1200 PSU and one of our breakout boards (the PSU is comfortably powering 7 pods off 120V right now) Note the frequencies and hashrates listed are the absolute max for these things.



I'll have the final numbers on Tester 4 in a couple hours, and then we'll re-run the tests with a new batch of 6 for comparison.
Whats the USB bandwidth look like? all 3 units running from the same Plugable hub?

Could be worthwhile to get some outside verifying. My bench test station already points to kano (you can see ongoing testing under the 1BURGER address, worker _r606) but the main tester scripts got switched to ckpool sometime back when we were having connection issues to kano servers (my ISP's upstream provider is CenturyLink and they suck balls forever).
Heh yep the shift graph shows it popping up and down all over the place Smiley
Anyway, just let me know when you do a run you want to report (preferably start before the hour and finish after the hour i.e. more than a 1 hour run for a full hour of stats ... or longer if you want) and I'll check the stats for the worker or miner and post them.

Edit: if you mine to an account (then set an address), you can also see the miner detailed statistics your self (e.g. each detailed shift summary which is usually about 50 minutes)

No I'm not trying to get you to use another pool for any other reason than ...

If you do point it at my pool I can verify the numbers fully, since there's a full (permanent) share log with even each share's timestamp for each device connected to the pool,
not just a "what's the pool think my worker hash rate is now"

i.e. I can check an individual or group of miners over e.g. an hour and report what the pool hash rate confirms, like I've done with the Canaan A10

If you don't want that, that's OK, leave it as is, but if you'd like me to do that, I can.

Very interesting project! Always wanted to grab something of yours and this seems like the perfect foot heater during winter.

Went straight from the ground in front of the icy staircase to the hospital. Fortunately I hadn't eaten anything in about 20 hours anyway so they operated that evening to install a metal rod in what became of the tibia (the fibula chunks, since it doesn't carrying much of a load, were left to fend for themselves). It was technically load-bearing from the get-go but asking one screw driven through a bone to carry my not-unsubstantial mass without extreme pain, and asking the same of the knee they opened up to do the install, was a little much. I didn't drive for a full month, and didn't go from crutches to a cane until a few weeks ago. Now I can walk around relatively well unassisted, at least for a while. Did not have a cast at all, interestingly enough.

It's a good thing my TV was already tied to a PC because I did almost all of the PCB design for this pod from the sofa during the first few weeks. All in all, this project has been a lot of work, but a lot of fun work, and I'm really excited about the finished product. It's easily the best thing I've ever built and VH's code work has been top-notch as well.

One would have to have a duo core cpu to have issue while multi tasking with a single unit imo.
Meanwhile I wrote some of the miner software and wrote and run a pool Smiley

GPU mining is very CPU peak intensive - he said a GPU mining rig.

(and none of this software is brain-dead single threaded)

I broke my leg on January 12th; about six inches above the ankle, both bones were in three pieces. That forced me off the shop floor for a good month before I was really mobile again, which meant nothing to do but PCB design (mostly from home) and firmware programming and drafting the sheet-metal housing. The prototype version of this machine was one trace and six components short of the final working design. I'm stunned my own self that it's less than three months from idea to release, though it really helps to have competent people able to handle the stuff I couldn't do during that time.

We're hoping to keep that R&D momentum going with two or three more new things this year, now that we do sticks, pods and hubs.

Great work and nice to hear that your leg is probably healed. I assume that it was probably operated on; must have been a nasty accident.
I broke fibula once (a smaller lateral bone, running parallel to the larger tibia aka shinbone).
Was in a cast using crutches for 2-3 mo. It's no fun.

Since the Pi can run off the R606's USB output jack, you wouldn't need to provide it power separately, which makes the whole thing more portable than if tethered to a PC. Just make sure to account for the Pi's power needs when setting your voltage and frequency.
