I see a bit more momentum for Kiel and expect a draw. In the other game as well.

The game between Hannover and Hamburg will be interesting. Both have not lost a game yet and the small HSV certainly wants to make it difficult for the big HSV.

For Hertha against Fürth, I am going for a draw.

And at Sunday I am curious about St. Pauli against Magdeburg.

yes ! Magdeburg has surprised me positively in the first 3 matchdays so far. especially the win in kiel surprised me.
Magdeburg's coach Christian Titz already has a great team together. the Magdeburg team will surely surprise us positively a few more times.
and Hertha BSC Berlin?? yes, they absolutely have to win at the weekend. otherwise it will be really tight for coach Pal Dardai.
a huge stadium, hundreds of millions of euros burned and no real team. that has to change now.
there is no other capital in europe that plays in a second league. or do you know a team?
and hannover vs hamburg ? i hope HSV can win this match. or at least a draw. about 20k hamburger fans got tickets for the match in hannover.
so HSV should be able to win the match.

Duesseldorf has a new player. Dennis Jastrzembski from Polish club Slask Breslau from the 1st league. He plays on the left wing.

Pretty bad news for Hertha Berlin. The captain Marco Richter is moving to Mainz 05 in the Bundesliga 1.

And at Hamburger SV, the contract from Sebastian Schonlau has been extended. The captain extended his contract early until 2026.

Hamburger SV played well. They waited for their chances and converted them well. They played like that the last season and is well known how it ended. So far Hamburger SV is the favourite for promotion. But the season has just started and a lot will happen.

yes. but hamburger sv has always been one of the favourites for promotion in the last 5 years and has always only managed to finish third or fourth.
there are still 31 matchdays to go and 93 points to be distributed. that's a very long time. i hope that hamburger sv will be at the top in may 2024.
on the last matchday (19 may 2024) hamburger sv will play against 1.FC nürnberg at 3:30pm in the volksparkstadion.
maybe there will finally be a big celebration in hamburg after 6 years.  Wink

Hamburger SV vs Hertha BSC Berlin > > yes. hopefully this will be a cool match. last time both teams played each other in the relegation
at the end of last season 22/23. hertha won the relegation in 2022 overall with 2:1 . but last season Hertha BSC deserved to be relegated.
the match will take place at the best football time. on saturday 19 august at 8:30 pm is kick-off . 57000 fans > > and again > > sold out stadium  Wink

If I had to make a guess for this game I think I would pick a 3-1 for Hamburg. I know that Hamburg is great in showing unexpected bad performances, but they are never really bad. Like so bad that they would consistently play trashy games for several weeks or even months in a row. But when I look at Hertha these days, I think that they are really bad. I have no idea what their game plan is and it is again Pal Dardai for the third time in 8 years. Given that he was fired in between and then hired again, I think that's a strange statistic to have for any club.
Hamburg managed to win 3 - 0 and show up with an amazing game, it's no wonder if you predict Hamburg can win 3 - 1 because Hamburg is still the same as last season as a team that cannot be underestimated.
If examined as a whole, Hertha is not on par with Hamburg and everyone who observes the Bubdesliga understands that Hamburg has performed better than Hertha.
Even though Hamburg in Bubdesliga 1 was eliminated and went to Bubdesliga 2, when they were in Bundesliga 2, Hamburg became the strongest like last season.
From the experience gained from Bundesliga 1 against big and strong teams, it made it easier for Hamburg to conquer Bundesliga 2.
This season, Hamburg must be able to show a better game so that in the upcoming season they can return to Bubdesliga 1.

Hertha BSC Berlin ! what's going on in Berlin ? 3 matches in the 2.bundesliga completed and 0 points and no goals scored .
yesterday Hertha BSC Berlin deservedly lost at Hamburger SV with 0:3 . i think never before a relegated team has started so badly into the season .
Hamburger SV is now first. but today Holstein Kiel still plays and can become first again with a win.

Hertha BSC is off to a very bad early phase of the 2. Bundesliga. It is hard to imagine that not too long ago hundreds and hundreds of millions have been raised from an investor to get the team to a new level and achieve new heights, and now they are facing Hamburg in a game away on match day 3 with 0 points from the first two games so far. I can smell that this will not be a very funny season for them. I haven't looked further into what is going on there, but if they got all this money and signed players with high salaries, I think the whole club could implode if they don't become successfully and financially sustainable. I think they are the most interesting club to watch in the 2. Bundesliga this season.

@mv1986 since it’s just the start of the season they can yet recover and I won’t rule them out unless they lose few more back to back matches and if that happens then their head coach could come under severe pressure as questions will be raised about his ability to guide them. Also let’s hope that they don’t mess their finances because when a club messes their finances their survival becomes really difficult hence I hope that they’ll find a way to recover from this mess quickly.

Hertha BSC has started really badly. They have lost both of the opening matches of this season. And this puts them at the absolute bottom of the table. This is certainly not good for them. But I also understand that it is the start of the season and probably they will be able to improve. But they better start improving quickly because otherwise it will be too late for them to actually do anything. They better start winning from the next match, because if they continue losing, the climb up through the rankings is going to be a lot more difficult for them. But it is still certainly very much recoverable. Still not too late at all, to be honest.

There are no matches in the Bundesliga 2 this weekend. Instead, the first round of the DFB Cup will be played. Paderborn will have to do it without Max Kruse. He injured his thigh in the last match against Osnabrück. It is not yet known when he will be able to play again.
SV Wehen, who have just been promoted, can also rest a little longer. They will play against Leipzig. But not until 27 September, because Leipzig will play in the Supercup against Bayern Munich at Saturday.
I am curious to see what surprises there will be in the first round. The cup has its own laws, as the saying goes.

yes. that's right. there are no games this weekend. but we have an extra thread for the DFB pokal in the gambling section.

Signing Max Kruse wasn't very smart by Paderborn. I don't know why they thought it is the right move, but I doubt that he will deliver them what they are hoping for. He will still have his scandals and produce the wrong headlines. Maybe he can get back to his form when he was valuable for the team, but I give him perhaps two or three months until he will be mostly sitting on the bench and have his first argument publicly with the managers. Wink

So far it is a massive Northern dominance in the league. Only Hannover is now doing very well, but with Hamburg, Kiel and Rostock it couldn't be any more Northern than that.

Hertha Berlin have a new player. Michal Karbownik. He is a defender and comes from Premier League club Brighton and Hove Albion. Last season he was loaned to Düsseldorf. His contract with Hertha Berlin runs until 2026. Maybe we will see him already on Saturday at the match against Hamburger SV.

Another Berlin player may be leaving soon. Goalkeeper Oliver Christensen. It looks like he will be going to AC Florence. Berlin would then get about 6 Mio Euros but would lose another goalkeeper. Alexander Schwolow moved to Union Berlin. And Marius Gersbeck is suspended.

Hertha Berlin, on the other hand, did not have a good start. But they should have won the game against Wiesbaden. But in the end, Wiesbaden scored the goal and won.

Hertha BSC is so bad ! even the Hertha fans don't go to the stadium. only 40466 fans were in the stadium for the game Hertha BSC Berlin against SV Wehen.
but in the Berlin Olympia Stadium over 74k fit in. where were the Hertha fans ? in the garden having a barbecue ?

But that was not much different last season. And that was in Bundesliga 1. There were games with only 25,000 spectators against Wolfsburg and the sold-out top games. At the first game against Frankfurt there were also only 45,000 spectators. You also have to consider that Germany has school holidays at the moment and therefore many people are not at home.

Here is a list of the numbers of spectators for the home games from last season:

https://www.reviersport.de/fussball/1bundesliga-2223-mannschaften-660111331-hertha-bsc-berlin-zuschauer.html

Also, I think fan support can be exhausted at some point, too. Berlin is a big city and some people might consider a visit as a part of their journey to the town, but when they only play 2. Bundesliga? The difference between them and Union is that Union plays more and talks less while Hertha has been talking about playing the Champions League a few years ago when Windhorst became an investor. They crashed so hard that the whole thing became nothing but ridiculous. They should have talked less and instead focus on hard work.

Too much is too much and I know that fan loyalty can be intense, but it is also a difference whether the stadium has a size of 30,000 visitors or 75,000 visitors. Filling a 75,000 stadium in the 2. Bundesliga isn't easily done.

that is disappointing for the first match in their own stadium in the season. Schalke 04 = over 61k fans, Hamburger SV 57k fans. both stadiums sold out.
these fans love their club. if Hertha now loses the next match in Hamburg..... oha ... then the disaster is perfect and Pal Dardai can look for a new job.
but who knows..maybe Berlin will win in Hamburg . let's be surprised .
