Soonandwaite, when do you think Hamburger SV should be promoted?  What would they have to have achieved?

the hsv needs faster players in defence. and also the midfield is too slow . and the hsv needs players with character and players who can lead the team properly .
such types like effenberg, matthaus, nogly, memering or similar types in the past. that is what the hamburger sv lacks .
personally i find the style how hamburg plays boring too . it all takes too slow for me . and not one player can hit a good pass over 50 or 60 metres.

Hamburger SV has reached 66 points. This would have got them direct promotion the last few years (until 2018). They have scored the most goals this season. So they are not that bad. But you are right about the defence. They scored 26 goals in the second half of the season, making them the seventh worst defence. But you have to say that they had to rebuild their defence because of the loss of Vuskovic and that did not work out well. The defence was also overburdened in the second leg against Stuttgart.
So something should really be done in the defence.

Hamburger SV : VFB Stuttgart 1:3

congratulations vfb stuttgart.
stuttgart also won the second relegation match in hamburg with 3:1. vfb stuttgart deserves to stay in the 1.bundesliga and hamburger sv stays in the 2.bundesliga and has the chance to be promoted again next season. but with hertha bsc berlin and schalke two good teams come as big competition in the 2.bundesliga.
it will be very hard for hamburg again next season.

Hamburg and Stuttgart meet in the second leg of the play-out series where the last team to compete in the Bundesliga next season will be determined. Stuttgart won the first match with a different score at home and could not benefit from a penalty kick. We have seen moments where Hamburg was effective from time to time but Hamburg could not make the last passes correctly especially around the opponent's penalty area at these moments. The host needs a miracle. They will take risks. I also predict that they will score due to the fact that the Stuttgart defense is open to errors. The bar can be crossed with goals from both teams.

if hsv get promoted, boldt and walter have to go. then kühne has to give hsv 150 million euros and the new coach and sporting director have to buy
players with experience and character. but that will never happen.
hamburg is not freiburg or union berlin, who create great teams with little money and play good, interesting football.

but if we are honest: the team is not good enough for the 1.bundesliga. there are other clubs like bayern münchen or dortmund and many other top teams.
with this team you would probably only collect 20 or 25 points and be relegated directly to the 2.bundesliga.
so the fans will see some successes in the 2023/2024 season. in the 1.bundesliga something like that would probably not be possible.
so it is better that hamburg stays in the 2.bundesliga with this team in the next season.

I disagree as Hamburg is one of those clubs that could raise quite a bit of money and invest it into the team. I am sure they would do it as a restart into the 1. Bundesliga. They are not the Hertha BSC style with an investment of a few hundred million Euro, but they would have had access to decent resources. Whether they would have still pulled a Hertha BSC is another question.

Mentioning Bayern and Dortmund as a reason for Hamburg to better stay in the 2. Bundesliga doesn't makes sense. Nobody is talking about Hamburg conquering the Champions League and become the 1. Bundesliga champion. They would have to establish the club club in the medium term against teams like Augsburg, Bochum, Darmstadt and Heidenheim. That is possible [...]

I agree. Nobody should expect Hamburger SV to make it into the top 9. If they were be able to finish at place 12 at the end of the season, that would be realistic. Money is not the most important thing. Team spirit is much more important. We can see that very well at Union Berlin. The guys are really into football and not only the players, but everyone in the club lives for it.

I didn't expect hamburger team to perform so poorly on the first leg they were totally overwhelmed by stuttgart losing 3 0 means that it is over for them and it will be a miracle if they manage to get promoted it must be really tough for fans to see their team being so close to the promotion and miss it again.

That is possible, but now that they lost the first game 0-3 I think it is not worth the effort to think about how Hamburg will be doing in the 1. Bundesliga in the coming year. Next year, next try for them.

there is no miracle for Hamburg while the aggregate score is superior to Stuttgart 3-0 which means that if Hamburg qualify for bundesliga 1 at least all Hamburg players must have a defensive and attacking formation.
so it's very difficult for Hamburg to score 4 goals in order to qualify but it's not that easy to get through this match because Stuttgart is too strong for Hamburg. on the other hand the defense of Hamburg is also very bad to withstand attacks from Stuttgart players.

Anyone followed the relegation game between Wehen Wiesbaden and Arminia Bielefeld? I noticed some headlines in the news that Bielefeld fans are going nuts and shoot fireworks straight onto the field and what not. They tried to break through the fences with force so I decided to zap in. Game was cancelled for 15 or 20 minutes and nobody could calm down the Bielefeld ultras. Wild scenes for a soccer game and Wiesbaden won it 4-0, which makes it quite safe to say that Bielefeld is getting relegated.

But maybe the fans decide to give them a last chance in their home game and support them again. A goal could kick off a positive dynamic similar to what it was now although it was of course negative. But when you see those ultras shaking the fences like rabies infected monkeys, I also wouldn't want to be a player waiting for them to break through that security line. Insanity, as if there weren't other problems in the world.

Yeah i followed the match i had over 2.5 goals in this match and came easily and i think Wehen are already in the bundesliga 2 with 4-0. I think its o most impossible for Bielefeld to turn this around. But i didnt see the chaos that happened when fans were rioting. This seems to be happening often in Germany

Hamburg can start planning for another year in Bundesliga 2.

the hamburger sv should also look for a new sporting director. only nice suits and a great hairstyle do not bring a title and also no points.
and this football from the hsv is also boring. slow and very faulty. a pass over 30 or 50 m already brings the teammates in great difficulties.
the 2.bundesliga is what the hsv can do. nothing more. now it's back to the derby hsv vs. st.pauli and not the derby bremen vs. hsv
and the hsv does not lose 0:8 in munich. that is very very good news for the new season.  Grin Grin

It is important to know that the "away goals rule" no longer exists.
really ? i didn't know that. ok.

This was abolished in the 2021/22 season.

It's a bit concerning how Hamburg is playing this game. Actually when you take the first half it could have been 3-0 for Stuttgart. They had a penalty that was missed and also a 1 on 1 with the goalkeeper from Hamburg that was also missed by Stuttgart. But in general Stuttgart is the better team here by far. If you know that it is going to be aa difficult game you should at least try and not go home after conceding 3 goals or even more. I see it coming that this is another season when Hamburg fails to either pass the relegation or become 4th.

The early goal was certainly a problem for Hamburg. Another problem was that Stuttgart put on the pressure from the start. Hamburg has always had problems with such a pressure and they cannot get calm in their own game in such situations.
But Stuttgart also played really well. They did not allowed Hamburger SV many chances. The missed penalty was not a wake-up call for the team either. And then there was the red card. 10 minutes into the game and then already out again.

a little disappointed not to bet on this match even though it is clear that Stuttgart will win this match because of course Stuttgart still has the desire to continue in bundesliga 1. this will be a pressure for Hamburg which is very unlikely to qualify for bundesliga 1 because from the aggregate score Stuttgart has 3 score.

The match will be broadcast live on free-TV.  It is important to know that the "away goals rule" no longer exists.

really ? i didn't know that. ok. then i hope that the fast offensive players from stuttgart don't score too many goals against the hamburger team.
i don't know what to bet. i hope that the hamburger sv finally gets promoted this year. but i only believe 30% that hamburg will make it.
my favourite opponent in the relegation would have been augsburg. but the augsburg team just managed to save itself.
tonight at 10:37pm we'll know the first result and ...... i hope hamburg gets a point there.  Grin Grin

Tonight is the match between Stuttgart and Hamburger SV. It is the first of two chances for Hamburger SV to take a big step back into Bundesliga 1. Hamburg has scored 70 goals in the whole season (more than any other team in Bundesliga 2) and must show today that they can do even more.

Some interesting results yesterday i did not expect darmstadt to lose with that huge score against greuther furth who were in a bad shape recently and that loss cost them the first place and they were lucky hamburger team was far away otherwise they would've wasted the direct promotion, congrats to heidenheim being promoted as well they had an impressive comeback win in that last round.

congrats to heidenheim for winning the bundesliga 2 this season. regensburg performed well and owusu managed to score 2 goals not too far away. heidenheim would have been in the runner-up position had it not been for their 2 miracle goals in the 90++ minute, Kleindienst also managed to score the last goal for Heidenheim and successfully defended his position as top scorer in Bundesliga 2.

now dortmund and bayern will be happy that 180 fans from heidenheim will travel with them to munich or dortmund.
otherwise 6000 schalke fans or hsv fans will come. now 180 heidenheim fans or 489 fans from darmstadt will come.
it will be a great 2nd bundesliga season 2023/2024. hertha bsc berlin, schalke 04, stuttgart or hsv, düsseldorf, hannover,st.pauli,nürnberg,
kaiserslautern and other great teams. almost better than the first bundesliga  Wink

what a game in regensburg!!! Shocked
heidenheim was able to celebrate in the 90+9 minute by the 3-2 (after a 0-2 deficit) the first-time promotion to the 1. bundesliga. even though fch is a small club, I think they finally deserve it and can make the experience in the 1st bundesliga, after they have missed in recent years always just the promotion.
