Of course. The change of the coach from Walter to Baumgart was his last chance to keep his job. I do not know how long he has been with Hamburger SV? But he had many chances and his team never promote to Bundesliga 1.

They signed him 2 months ago actually.  Grin
I wasn't sure how many months exactly but I remembered it was only short he was sacked at Cologne.

I was referring to the sporting director Jonas Boldt.  Wink He has been with Hamburger SV for a little longer than 2 months. I have now also had a look. He has been with Hamburger SV since 2019.

----------------------

At the bottom of the table it is probably 99% certain that Osnabrück will be relegated again. They have not managed to get away from the bottom the whole season. They have been at place 18 for a total of 22 matchdays and even the change of the coach at the end of November has only raised hopes for a few games.
So it will be exciting as everyone up to place 12 is in the danger zone.

This was doomed from the beginning. Because of the short time frame I doubt they will let him go if they can't accomplish the get to the first league. Of course with this joke of a team everything is possible but still I think he will stay. Anyway, nobody needs the HSV in the first league now that we most likely get another Hamburg based team with St.Pauli promoted soon hopefully.

the hamburger sv does not have any fast players in defence . often the opponents are much faster and this creates huge problems in the hsv defence.
and this is exactly the problem that the hamburger sv and jonas boldt cannot solve. i think at least 6-7 players are welcome to leave the club .
the hamburger sv needs new hungry guys. but where can you find such guys ? i am now curious to see how the hsv will react at the end of this season .
it will be an exciting few weeks  Grin

Hamburger SV : Holstein Kiel  0:1

congratulations holstein kiel !! i think we can congratulate kiel on promotion to the first bundesliga .kiel is now 6 points ahead of düsseldorf and i think kiel will get at least
6 more points . that should be enough for 1st or 2nd place .and hamburg ? hamburg will probably play another year in the 2.bundesliga . and that fully deserved  Grin

Hamburger SV have once again failed to gain promotion to Bundesliga 1. Because of their performance so far they will not be able to catch up with Düsseldorf. Now it will be exciting to see which of the top 3 will be at place 1 and which team will be at place 3 at the end of the season. I would grant St. Pauli being at place 1 again at the end of the season. Because they have played an outstanding season.

i think that the sporting director jonas boldt will have to leave hamburger sv at the end of the season.

My lord, it is always intense to see that Hamburg somehow manages to mess things up. I guess this will always be the same for the next two decades to come for them! Cheesy

I am not sure that this is even funny anymore, but the will once more manage to finish a season as 4th. My god... What the heck is wrong with them. Huge city, tons of money and yet they can't manage to get promoted again. Looking forward to a whole decade of 2. Bundesliga HSV.

i think that the sporting director jonas boldt will have to leave hamburger sv at the end of the season. i can't see this arrogant guy anymore. even if there are still 12 points !
the hsv will finish this season in fifth place. i can't imagine that the hsv will get 9 or 12 more points.
but if 1.fc köln gets relegated, it will be a top 2.bundesliga again next season with many great stadiums.

but i am happy that two north german clubs are promoted to the 1st bundesliga. and..... the first club from schleswig holstein in the 1st bundesliga > > holstein kiel  Grin

Kiel deserves to go up as they developed into the most consistent team at the right time. Pauli has shown some weakness, but will probably get away with it and Hamburg, well I think there is not much left to say about them. It's incredible... But they still have the game against Pauli at home, which might be a derby where there is still something on the line for them. But the only chance I see for them to still be promoted is to win the remaining 4 games. First stop will be at Braunschweig and if they don't win that one, I think it is over for them. Düsseldorf has two relatively easy games at home, which I think they both will probably win and that makes it still a 5 points difference, which means Hamburg has to win it all.

But as you said, there are now other clubs from Northern Germany that are good to go. Pauli in the 1. Bundesliga is always fun.

Schalke is in grave danger. And I agree that it is very sad to see a team like this perform so badly. We always expect good performance from teams who have shown good performance in the past. But that is not the case for Schalke. I actually don't think they will get relegated from the second Bundesliga. But they are also not showing any signs of getting a promotion as well.
Schalke is in big danger. They are only 2 points away from place 16 and only 3 points away from place 16. Osnabrück will not make it and will be dependent on Rostock and Kaiserslautern. I do not think Schalke will be relegated either, because Rostock and Kaiserslautern are not better than Schalke. But things can change quickly and Schalke could find themselves on a relegation spot.
The case of Schalke04 is such a big surprise to me. As a kid, they have always been one of the popular German teams that we admire so much and even among the club names in our street football. How they moved from a top team in Germany to a team in division 2 and even struggling to remain there is what baffles me. I know the management contributed a lot to that and they really seem helpless at this point. Their chances of being relegated this season is high because there recent performance is not encouraging.

tonight at 18:30 the 30th matchday of the 2nd bundesliga starts. can schalke 04 win today in elversberg and get 3 important points ?
in the other match nürnberg meets paderborn . for me an uninteresting match . both teams are in the middle of the table with 37 and 40 points.
maybe the match will end in a draw.

Both matches have just ended. Schalke and Elversberg have only managed a draw. But the result is okay in terms of performance  Elversberg are pretty safe and will probably not be relegated. Schalke are now 5 points in front of place 16, but that could change tomorrow.
Paderborn won the other game 2:0. So it is almost certain that they are no longer in the danger zone. Nürnberg on the other hand, are not yet safe. They only have one point more than Schalke and it could be dangerous for them.

At the top Holstein Kiel seems as good as through to the Bundesliga so it seems. 6 points ahead of the relegation spot 3rd place and even 9 points to 4th.
I had to google if they have ever been in the Bundesliga (which was formed in 1963) and they never reached it. It's refreshing to hopefully see a new but very old and traditional team in the top league soon.

Things are really looking good for Holstein Kiel. Most of this season they have been in the top 3 and they will play against Hamburger SV at Saturday. There they can show that they want to be promoted.
Interesting fact: In the stadium from Holstein Kiel only 15,000 spectators fits. They already have a special licence from the DFL for Bundesliga 2 and would also need it for Bundesliga 1. If they will not get it, they would have to move to another stadium.

Schalke got some breathing space in their relegation battle with a 2:0 win against Nürnberg. But with a 4 point gap to place 16, they are still in a very critical situation. They were been lucky that most of the teams below them (in the table) have lost and only 2 teams have got each 1 point through a draw.
The next game from Schalke is against Elversberg. They had not win for a long time, but after theier win against St Pauli, they will probably play with a complete different mentality.  The advantage for Schalke is, that all the teams below them (in the table) are playing against each other.

So sad  Grin .
Wouldn't it be fun to see them fighting for the 3rd league, haha.
4 points with 5 remaining games is not much but the bottom of the league is lost last weekend as well so this one was big for Schalke, unfortunately.
Next game day they play away at a mediocre Elversberg, I predict a draw between these 2.

After St. Pauli lost the game against Karlsruhe they have also lost the game against Elversberg. St. Pauli led twice, but Elversberg won by one goal more in the end. And because Kiel also won their game they (St. Pauli) are no longer at place 1. They are only 5 points in front of place 3. I did not think it would be getting exciting again.
The next game from St. Pauli is against Hannover. That will not be an easy game too because Hannover still has a small chance for reaching place 3 at the end of this season.

Tomorrow the ,atchday number 29 begins and both Rostock and Kaiserslautern have the chance to gain points against relegation. And they have a good chance, because nothing will happen anymore for their opponents this season. They will neither be relegated nor have the chance to be promoted. Hertha Berlin and Fürth are iat place 7 and 8.

But I am looking forward to the game at Saturday between Paderborn and Karlsruhe. Will Karlsruhe win again and attack place 3?

Very exciting matchday and a lot has happened at the top and bottom of the table. Karlsruhe has a run and they managed to beat St. Pauli. This gives St. Pauli only 2 points ahead from Kiel and Kiel will have even more motivation to reach place 1.
The battle for place 3 will continue between Düsseldorf and Hamburger SV at the next matchday. Hannover has not managed to get closer with a win.
Karlsruhe are making it exciting again, but a 7-point gap to place 3 is probably too much at the end.

Things are getting tighter again in terms of points at the bottom of the table. Osnabrück have won again at the second time, so it ssems they will fight until the end.
There are only 3 points between place 17 and 12. Bundesliga 2 is once again very exciting and it is not clear yet who will be relegated.

The teams at the bottom of the table are in desperate need of success.
Rostock will play against Wehen Wiesbaden tonight and Wiesbaden are also in the danger zone. Rostock on place 17 absolutely needs a win. Kaiserslautern, Braunschweig and Schalke will play against teams that are fighting for promotion. It seems that Kaiserslautern have the easiest opponent if I look at the performance of Hamburger SV.
These will probably all be games with a lot of fighting.

Well hopefully Kaiserslautern will take some of the motivation and and momentum from the cup semis win into this match today.
It would be really sad to see a team like this moving down in the 3rd devision again.
On the other hand, I appreciate every game that Hamburger SV is losing, never liked them. They play at home though, I guess it's gonna be a hard fight for FCK.
Seeming Schalke so far down in the rankings is a real pleasure (cause I am a BVB supporter  Grin ) . Would't it be fun seeing them playing against teams like Rot Weiss Essen, Erzgebirge Aue and Borussia Dortmund II next season?  Cool

the 28th matchday kicked off yesterday with a home and away win.
rostock were able to collect 3 important points against relegation with a 3-1 home win against wiesbaden and thus put pressure on the other clubs (e.g. schalke 04) in this table region
hertha bsc berlin beat paderborn 3-2 away and temporarily climb to 6th place in the table with 41 points
