The top of the table now looks dangerously close again.
Sure Kiel and Pauli seem to still have a good position having some more points than 3rd place, but still, it looked much better 2-3 weeks back.
If Kiel wins in Wiesbaden today though they can pretty much cool the champagne with a 5 point advantage. They haven't won yet though, as last week has shown (losing against Kaiserslautern), any small mistake can be punished fast.

At the bottom of the table I am glad to see that Kaiserlautern now had back to back impressive wins. If Wiesbaden loses against Kiel they are in a great position to stay in the 2nd Bundesliga and enjoy the cup final.

And isn't it amusing to see how Hamburg is close to ruining their last chance once again? This is this one game that they need to win to at least preserve a theoretic chance for promotion. But they are of course behind, but then again they wouldn't have lost it today. I checked the table and they win less than 50% of the games. They have often reached something around 60 points or more. That's the least for a club with so much potential, but they have instead developed meme potential.

That was great morale from the team. 4 points behind place 3 iss probably too much. And even if they would make it, they will still have to play 2 relegation matches.

yes yes. the hamburger team is really very mysterious. the hamburger sv wins against st. pauli and loses in osnabrück and only gets one point in magdeburn .
but it's like almost every year now . the hsv finishes the season in 3rd or 4th place . and when the relegation matches come hamburg voluntarily stays in the 2.bundesliga .
and it won't be any easier for hamburger sv next year . if cologne also plays in the 2nd bundesliga next season it will be even harder to get promoted again .
cologne, darmstadt, schalke 04, hannover 96, hertha bsc berlin and some more have the chance to get promoted to the first bundesliga .
i'm sure ..... next season will also be very exciting again  Wink and the hsv on place 3 oder 4 or ??

hsv won the hamburg city derby today with a 1-0 victory against st. pauli. however, as düsseldorf also beat nürnberg 3-1 at home in the second friday match, the gap to third place in the table remains at 4 points.
with 2 games left to play and the worse goal difference, it will take a miracle for hamburger sv to reach the relegation matches...

That was a great game from Hamburger SV. If they had played more games like they did against St. Pauli, they would not be at place 4. In that game, Hamburger SV had scored 3 goals, but 2 were denied. Nevertheless, they did not give up and only the last goal was given. That was great morale from the team. 4 points behind place 3 iss probably too much. And even if they would make it, they will still have to play 2 relegation matches.

The difference in points between HSV and Fortuna Düsseldorf in third place remains the same, namely 4 points. HSV now have just two games left of the season, and a poorer goal difference does not favor their chances of reaching the relegation zone. Their prospects looked so bleak, it would be a miracle for HSV to achieve that goal.

However, HSV's journey this season has shown persistence and struggle despite facing insurmountable obstacles. They will continue to press, giving their best effort even though victory seems out of reach given the circumstances towards the end of the season. A sliver of hope still remains, football is known for its unpredictability, there may be a surprise waiting in the remaining games.

Even so, HSV will be on the brink of collapse, they will have to summon strength from within to deliver a stunning performance as they fight to survive in their last chance for redemption.

will tomorrow friday evening be a horror friday for the fans of hamburger sv? will fc.st.pauli be promoted directly to the first bundesliga in the hamburger volksparsadion ?
in the hsv stadium .... in front of 57000 fans ? hamburger sv must win tomorrow to still have a chance of 3rd place .
i think this will be the craziest match this season !! i hope this match ends without any big incidents . but it will be a damn hot friday in hamburg.

the matches with the green stars are the matches for places 1-4  Wink

It sure is crunch time now. Would love to see Pauli celebrating in Hamburg's stadium, I bet they also couldn't imagine a better place than this, except their home stadium of course.  Grin

Hopefully Kiel can close it out at well after their surprising defeat last weekend.
The team that beat them, Kaiserslautern, also has a HUGE must win game against Magdeburg. This is a must win if they want to have a chance to stay in the 2nd Bundesliga!!
Since most stuff in the 1st BL is decides it's must more interesting to follow then 2. BL at the moment I think.

I am very surprised from Wehen Wiesebaden. They were actually pretty safe, but now they have to fight against relegation again. It is definitely very exciting again.

and that's why the club sacked head coach Markus Kauczinski yesterday. in doing so, wehen wiesbaden pulled out the last joker to avert relegation to the 3rd league after all.
staying in the 2nd bundesliga is the club's top priority - MK managed promotion to the 2. bundesliga with svww last season

And what a lovely situation for St. Pauli! They could put the nail in the coffin for Hamburg this season while celebrating their promotion in the stadium of their fiercest opponent! Cheesy

If anyone would have told me that Hamburg might end up playing in the 2. Bundesliga for a whole decade, I would have bet against it big time but now I think it is certainly not impossible that we will continue to see Hamburg mess things up over and over again for the next few years.

Düsseldorf is in a pretty complicated situation now that they lost two points against Schalke and are still playing against Kiel away from home. There is indeed some more drama guaranteed towards the end of the season. Now Kiel against Wehen and both desperately need to win, but either way Düsseldorf still has the chance to somewhat close the gap and keep it an open fight until the end. More exciting than the 1. Bundesliga I would say.

After being able to get promoted to bundesliga 2, initially Wehen Wiesebaden was able to perform quite well as a debutant team this season, but slowly their performance continued to deteriorate and had bounced back with several times managed to avoid consecutive defeats, but indeed the quality they currently have is still much lower than other teams in bundesliga 2,  With only 3 games left, of course it seems difficult for Wehen Wiesebaden to stay in Bundesliga 2 next season, especially the team they will face is a team that is quite strong later, compared to Wehen Wiesebaden, of course I am more sure if Hansa Rostock can stay in the Bundesliga next season even though they have to go through the relegation playoff route with League 3 teams later.

The change of coach at this time will certainly not make Wehen Wiesebaden experience an improvement and also a significant change in their performance to face the remaining 3 matches, in fact in my opinion with the change of coach will make the team even worse and also divided, because after all, accepting a new coaching method from a new coach is certainly not easy so far and requires a lot of time to understand the new strategy.

Yes, grasping at the last straw. It is a final push to keep place 16 at least. But it will not be easy. They will play against Kiel, Braunschweig and St Pauli. The remaining programme from Kaiserslautern (place 15) is a little easier. And Kaiserslautern has shown a better performance than Wiesbaden in recent weeks with theier draws against Wiesbaden and their win against Kiel.

I was very surprised to see Kiel losing against Kaiserslautern but since I am routing for both teams and Kaiserlautern needs 3 points more than Kiel does it's an ok result for me. With this BIG win FCK made the ump out of the relegation zone. Now it's up to them to stay out as well.

That was an important win for Kaiserlautern and they now have it in their own hands.
Schalke is still in the danger zone but managed at least a draw and are now 5 points away from place 16.

Düsseldorf only managed a draw, so St. Pauli has 7 points more than Düsseldorf. St. Pauli can make their promotion perfect at the next matchday. Then they will play against Hamburger SV. Hamburger SV has now also more chances to reach place 3. Place 3 is only 4 points away. I did not think it would be exciting again, because the performance from Hamburger SV has not been good in recent weeks.

Yeah Pauli is pretty much through, congrats to them. Nice to have them back in the Bundesliga. They are one of them teams that have a certain character, unspoiled by big investors or sponsors.

Kiel should still be able to pull off the surprise and finally make it to the Bundesliga. If everything goes well for them it might already happen next weekend hopefully.

St.Pauli : Hansa Rostock 1:0 and
Hertha BSC Berlin : Hannover 96 1:1

i think with the 1:0 victory today against hansa rostock st.pauli is promoted to the 1st bundesliga . there are still 3 matchdays and 8 points to be awarded.
i bet st.pauli will still get the necessary points .
even if düsseldorf wins tomorrow in gelsenkirchen, st.pauli still has a 5-point lead over düsseldorf. that will be enough to secure promotion this season !

St. Pauli hast tonigt the chance to move closer to promotion with a win and climb back to place 1. In the last season in the game against Rostock at home there were incidents that nobody wants to see. Some visitors from Rostock destroyed the washbasins and toilets and threw the shredded pieces onto the players and the pitch. To prevent this from happening again, this time there are mobile toilets for the visitors from Rostock.

Some teams are in the danger zone. In my opinion, these are all teams from place 11 to place 17. Nürnberg with 37 points and Kaiserslautern with 30 points. In the remaining games all seven teams still have the opportunity to pick up 12 points. But the question is if all the teams will keep their coach? I can imagine that one or two clubs could still cahnge theier coaches to try to grasp at the last straw.

It's sad to see that German cup finalist Kaiserslautern is also is a dire situation being 17th of 18. They are just 2 points behind the 15th position but seeing the way the play it's hard to imagine they will get a lot of points from the rest of their games.
They still face leading team Kiel and Hertha Berlin away while facing standings neighbours Magdeburg and Braunschweig at home.
It's gonna be a close race in the final 4 games.

I did not watch any game from Kaiserslautern. So I cannot say anything about their performance. Theey have slipped into the danger zone in the table from matchday 13 and then never got out of it.

The remaining programme for Kaiserslautern is really difficult. Especially the games against Magdeburg and Braunschweig. Braunschweig have performed better in recent weeks and Magdeburgs remaining programme is a bit easier than that of Kaiserslautern. The easiest game is probably against Hertha Berlin, because they can not longer achieve anything.

Of course. The change of the coach from Walter to Baumgart was his last chance to keep his job. I do not know how long he has been with Hamburger SV? But he had many chances and his team never promote to Bundesliga 1.

They signed him 2 months ago actually.  Grin
I wasn't sure how many months exactly but I remembered it was only short he was sacked at Cologne.

I was referring to the sporting director Jonas Boldt.  Wink He has been with Hamburger SV for a little longer than 2 months. I have now also had a look. He has been with Hamburger SV since 2019.

----------------------

At the bottom of the table it is probably 99% certain that Osnabrück will be relegated again. They have not managed to get away from the bottom the whole season. They have been at place 18 for a total of 22 matchdays and even the change of the coach at the end of November has only raised hopes for a few games.
So it will be exciting as everyone up to place 12 is in the danger zone.

Ah ok, my mistake. I read it wrong.

Yeah at the bottom Osnabrück is pretty much done. Only a miracle can safe them now.
