Exactly. The defence is the problem. But they have had this problem very long. They had it already last season in Bundesliga 1 as well. If they could solve their defensive problems, they would not be in the danger zone. But they have not managed it for over 18 months.

They had a phase when they played acceptable football, but now they are going back to old but gold in a negative sense. It's how they started this season into the 2. Bundesliga and even though still 99% of the people would bet against Schalke being relegated eventually, I think this is more serious now than ever. It mostly doesn't really matter whether you lose 1-0 or 4-1, but in this case it was against one of their contenders in the fight against the relegation zone. Big win for Kaiserslautern and an even bigger loss for Schalke. But I like the trouble, it's sometimes fun to see clubs with so much potential being on the brink of getting punished for doing so many things wrong for so long.
