Bayern Munich fans can take a breather now because Alphonso Davies at one point on the brink of a transfer to Real Madrid, is reportedly closing in on a renewal in bavaria and is renegotiating with the club to iron out the financial aspects of his contract. The oft-quoted salary figure of “€20m/year” looks to have come down quite a ways after the latest rounds of discussions.
For Alphonso Davies, the most likely scenario at the moment is a contract extension. His previous demands of around €20m per year are unrealistic. The left-back currently earns around €11m gross per year. With the new deal he would earn around €15m/year in addition to a signing fee.
This is a more apt classification for his wages with respect to his performances. The Canadian has been amazing under head coach Vincent Kompany. And it seems that Davies has seen the light: Bayern is where he wants to be.
The glitter of Real Madrid's name didn't dissuade him then. Most of the time, we see this kind of talented youngsters being convinced by Real Madrid easily. I thought it would be the same with Alphonso Davies as well.
Bayern Munich had better make a good raise in his salary like the example you have given. He has performed really amazing so far. He is only 24 years old now. They shouldn't lose him for free as there are 6 months left in his contract.
Real Madrid is probably looking for an alternative to Mendy then. Davies can steal the shirt from him in a short time in my opinion in case they sign him.
