eastern precious metal exchanges opening to trade primarily physical metal, not paper;

Yeah. I was able to sell some Eagles and Maples down Yaowarat a few years ago without a problem though. Gold is gold but not easy to find other than 23k

They have digital records replicated over a few mediums, like tapes for example. And btw PC's are workstations that connect to a central database usually located in a fireproof and protected data-center.
