Crave is the furure
Question about safety: is it safe to give our private keys to unknown wallet like Electron Cash? Maybe imnediately after giving our keys to BCC wallet, we have to send our BTC to another wallet to guarantee safety of our Bitcoins?

AFTER the bloody fork of BCC happen, firstly send your BTC to another address(wallet),wait enough for confirmation and then,on another machine at best, import your PK's to BCC wallet to obtain your BCC.

No  Shocked, it is unsafe, that is why send your BTC to another wallet before you dare to use any unknown wallet, and send all the BCC you obtain to another address (maybe on exchange) immediately after you gave it the keys.

He tried to use the same wallet.dat, I don't know if you're supposed to do that.

yes, & why can't?, i guess it should work.

Firstly, I feel obliged to ask everyone to read the precautions about the use of Electron Cash before proceed,

Secondly, my experience with full clients:
I started with installation of the latest version of BitcoinABC - 0.14.6
Than I shut it down, and run Bitcoin Core, no problems occurred, it took the same AppData directory and the encrypted wallet.dat in it.

So if there's a problem with compatibility - follow importprivkey way.

... but how can yobit and other did provided BCC to all the btc holders on their exchanges if it isn't that simple ?

They shut down BTC deposit/withdrawal. And then distribute inner, "paper" token. It's quite similar, I think, to what HitBTC firstly did in spring with Classic tokens.

he already run it, when tried to install BitcoinABC

The best variant would be to sign the tx offline and then broadcast it, but not sure if we have the easy way to do it soon.

i ran bitcoin XT on other machine and imported my BTC wallet.dat, now i see a message that says, my wallet is not matching with the Bitcoin XT client.

I guess i will till the dust settle down after split but how can yobit and other did provided BCC to all the btc holders on their exchanges if it isn't that simple ?

He tried to use the same wallet.dat, I don't know if you're supposed to do that.

The logical thing to do is to go through private keys.

I would try first with an address with only some spare satoshis to see if the BCC client doesn't steal my BTC.

After having split the coins I would transfer all BTC to a new BTC only address.

How could you vouch for the safety of the latter wallet? The code has to be reviewed before anyone uses it. These kinds of events are a perfect opportunity to input malicious code into *forks* of existing wallet and adapt them for the altcoin BCH.

vouch for nothing  Wink but of course should add the Electrum advice to use Electron only after you withdraw all your BTC from the address.

Wait till the split happened & settled (may check here), than run that wallet, import privkey and get your precious BCC  Grin
I would wait until people are sure transacting is *perfectly safe* as I am not convinced of the replay protection on BCH.
"settled" is just another term for *perfectly safe*  Wink

BitcoinABC and Bitcoin Core both use the same AppData directory by default  Sad so better do not try to run BitcoinABC after the split on the same PC
You can change the datadir quite easily from default to pretty much anything when you first run Bitcoin Core.

Terminated.
If you have such a problem with BitcoinABC client, why not to give a try to Electron Cash? It's electrum for BCC

Note: BCC is already taken by some other altcoin.

Just use Mycelium on your phone.  That will give a BTC address, later you can claim your coins on any other split blockchain.     The basic advice I believe was most online wallets dont allow this claiming but either a full wallet or something like electrum or this one I mentioned will let you claim later if you like.   Obviously you retain the BTC as well.

This is so fantastic Smiley thank you for posting it!! One quick question for you, where do you think is the best place for me to trade in my bcc? I can't get a via account b/c i'm state side but any advice is fantastic. Cheers!

No idea about the chinese exchanges AML & KYC policies, among others Kraken promised to have BCC trading pairs.
There is also a dark horse Yobit  Grin It's already distributed BCC to all its BTC holders and started BTC/BCC trading. But wait till it opens BTC and BCC deposit/withdrawal.

Is Bittrex is safe to store bitcoin ?

https://support.bittrex.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000808991-Statement-on-Bitcoin-Cash-BCC-

still i need any additional step ?
Although in current I not see Bittrex have issue about store Bitcoin, but remember an exchange trusted is BTC-e has been down by FBI because correlative money laundering by UG. So, withdraw to wallet desktop as Electrum, Bitcoin Core can keep private key or could storage Trazor, Ledger are best choice.

I've left a small amount on trex just to see. Most is on my wallet redundant backups and getting ready for some profit.

For better or worse I went to 90% btc 10% altcoins in my hodlings.

I have a couple of bitcoins stored as USDT.

I am aware than Omni runs off the bitcoin blockchain, so I have a couple of questions pls,

Would I need to do anything to the holdings in USDT before the fork ?

any risks in keeping them stored in USDT during the fork ?

And would Omni use BTC or BCC after the form ?

hi!! have you found the answer, pls?

BCC started in yobit trading
Which is a BIG RED flag for a token that does not even exists yet being traded, except if it is advertised as futures (like on ViaBTC) or you have just mistaken the BitConnect (real BCC token) with Bitcoin Cash

EDIT: ViaBTC not checking for the BCC token name availability is a whole new story/can of worms

No mistake  Smiley, it's BitcoinCash paper token
