SGminer with stock conf isn't very good, but with right settings it can do much better. Also XMR-STAK, can almost achieve SGminer. Not sure about Claymore improvement, I just tried it stock, it has much higher power consumption. I will do guide with conf files for these miners, but probably won't share for free.

Since I've showed you my stats on my 5 card mixed rig I will continue with it. It's not the highest you can have with RX cards.
Total hashrate with 2x RX 470 and 3x RX 480.
First is XMR-STAK-AMD 1.4.0, second is Claymore XMR 9.7 and third is SGminer 5.5.5

Hi guys! I read all the guide, I was mining with clay 9.7 for XMR, getting around 780 H/s per card (have 3 cards RX570), Im on win10 x64 with custom timings (hynnix).

As you said, sgminer would have higher hashrates, but I could only get 720 H/s per card maximum...

I tried tunning worksize, with no succed...
Also tried Intensity but only get worst results...

If I change the gpu threads param, the program dont work properly...

any ideas?

Added pools

Yeah, you can start it, but I don't have any 570/580 still waiting for them. I only have RX 470/480.
There is no big difference in 480/580, 580 is better, but you can use the same thread.

Added Wallets

For best hashrate use SGminer, but if you like me and like stats and watching them on simple webview use XMR-STAK-AMD. Claymore is from my view worst option. It has about the same hashrate as XMR-STAK, but a lot higher wattage. For better hashrate with XMR-STAK-AMD and SGminer you need to tweak conf file, those stock aren't very good.

Monero and ETH are both memory intensive algos, but I would say Monero more depends on core clocks than ETH. You could adjust core a little bit more.

The XMR-STAK-AMD miner was ~15-20 H/s slower than the Claymore miner on my RX series cards. I also couldn't get the XMR-STAK-AMD to work for my HD 7850, that works with Claymore.

It could be that card can't handle the same overclock as the others, causing it to hang from memory errors. I have cards with Hynix memory that have a 1500 MHz strap mod and are fine with a 2075 MHz overclock. Other cards with the same memory I can only go up to 2020 MHz before there are memory errors. Try reducing the core 10 MHz and the memory by 50 Mhz on the card that's crashing and see if it helps. It could also be from undervolting too much.

Anyone else using the xmr-stak miner? Looking to start mining monero with my AMD cards but want to make sure i pick the right miner.

With the Claymore miner I used the same settings I used for ETH, 1150 MHz core 2000-2075 MHz memory and get between 725-775 H/s on RX 570 and 480/580.

The XMR-STAK-CPU miner also gave me a 50%+ improvement over the cpuminer-opt miner on an i7 4770 to ~325 H/s.

Added GPU-Z screenshots, same rig. This one has 3 different cards, it's not one of my best Just for an idea, how it could be.

The optimal parameter for the threads and blocks option in config.txt depend on your GPU. For all GPU's with a compute capability >=2.0 and <6.0 there is a restriction of the amount of RAM that can be used for the mining algorithm. The maximum RAM that can be used must be less than 2GB (e.g. GTX TITAN) or 1GB (e.g. GTX 750-TI). The amount of RAM used for mining can be changed with "threads" : T, "blocks : B".

    T = threads used per block
    B = CUDA blocks started (should be a multiple of the multiprocessors M on the GPU)

For the 2GB limit the equations must be full filled: T * B * 2 <= 1900 and B mod M == 0. The value 1900 is used because there is a little data overhead for administration. The GTX Titan X has 24 multiprocessors M, this means a valid and good starting configuration is "threads" : 16, "blocks : 48" and full fill all restrictions 16 * 48 * 2 = 1536 and 48 mod 24 = 0.

The memory limit for NVIDIA Pascal GPUs is 16 GiB if the newest CUDA driver is used.
Windows or Linux Interactive Usage

To work (surf) with you desktop system while you are running the miner you need to find a good value for bfactor and bsleep. On windows, you need to set the option bfactor and bsleep if the miner crashs shortly after starting. A good value to start on windows is "bfactor" : 6, "bsleep" : 25. To reach the maximum hash rate you must set both values to zero "bfactor" : 0, "bsleep" : 0.
