You did a great job responding to an "addicted" gambler but unfortunately, his mind is stronger than your words that is why he faced what he must face and it is losing all of his money.

Sometimes, you just need to leave behind an addicted gambler because there are times that instead of letting them stop they will confront you and say bad things. I didn't tried this in real life because I didn't saw anybody who is gambling in my community but I know the feeling of a person trying to stop a gambler for losing more money but the problem is they want to recover their losses so it would be beneficial for you as a helper to just let him do what he wants. It isn't your money though so let him use his money.
The desire to stop gambling must come from within the person otherwise even if you help him and he stops for the time being once you are not around he will begin to gamble again, I have tried to stop some people to keep gambling their money away and as you may guess they did not respond very favourably to it, they told me it was their money and that I had no right to meddle in their lives, and they were right, so I had no option but to watch them self-destruct and I could do nothing to stop them.

My wife is the best about this, I do not stop anyone but she stops me very well and not even for the reasons you imagine it would be. She is always against me gambling because her father was a big gambler himself, but her father was a big business owner so it didn't really bothered the family.

However, she saw that and quite against me gambling as well and figured out a system where she isn't saying "stop gambling" or anything which probably would still work but she found a system where she says "whatever you wager, I will also spend for myself".

So, when I wager 10 bucks, that means I am actually spending 20 dollars instead, when I wager 100 bucks, that is 200 dollars! Which makes anything under 2.00 odds really not worth it. You want to know the worst part? If I ever win, we will spend the win together, this time it is not just her, but together which is nice of course but I can't even keep a bankroll this way. She literally made me start gambling with small change amounts thanks to this method Cheesy.

To be honest, one of my friends spend a lot of money in gambling because he believes that it is more easier to earn money than going to work, and i think it is true because it is much easier to earn money in gambling that you could easily earn thousands of dollars in just one hour. But i started to convince him to stop gambling since he started to sell his car just to pay his debt at the casino, so i started to control him and watch him everyday for him to stay away from gambling and for him to work hard just to recover all of his losses from gambling.
But the result was as successful as you expected or everything is back to the old location, he is still a gambling addict and is willing to sell everything for gambling, I'm quite curious about this outcome because usually, the number of people who can participate in gambling is a lot while the number of people giving up and learning to control is too small. It's almost impossible for us to stop someone from gambling when they don't really need our caring advice and actions, even when we try to manage them, they will counterattack and see us as obstacles and need to overcome

Yes. I honestly stopped a stranger from gambling while betting because he is already losing his mind and really continues to gamble that you can really see that he is depressed from all of his losses, that is why after he bets the game i started to confront him and telling him that he should stop and play gambling for another time because he couldn't recover all of his losses by that kind of attitude and greed.

I've been into gambling for a long, my major focus was on sports betting. From sports betting earned good, but I wasn't able to make the success continue. I lost out of greed, further my focus turned towards casinos where we get the instant results and doesn't want to wait as we wait on sports betting till a match gets over. By this time I was entirely new to it, and lost big. If someone have contacted me I could've stopped it for a while and lowered my loses.

Recently while playing dice, I saw a person who was wagering with large funds to recover the loss. By the time he has lost part of what I have lost. I texted him my experience, and suggested to stop it before things go out of his hands. He didn't responded, finally he lost everything. Have any of you got such experience.

I haven't got the chance to experience that kind of situation, but I applaud what you did because even though you didn't know the person totally, you did what you need to do for that person so that he/she will not end up like your situation. For that person, it's that person's mistake that he/she didn't listen to your suggestion. Well, everybody when in a gambling wants their money loss to back.
And because you are aiming for your losses to be back then thats one of the most common reason why people do wreck even their lives to the fullest if they arent lucky enough for that motive.

It would surely worsen down the situation and its up to them if they would listen on someones suggestion or advise or not but most of the time they wouldnt really care at all
because the thing they would follow is what into their minds which is either trying to be rich or trying to recover something.

One of my friends is addicted in gambling before to the point that it negatively affects his health because of poor sleep and appetite. As a friend, it makes me feel bad seeing how gambling makes his life miserable. Just like you, I have tried to warn him because I know that gambling won't give him any assurance. The problem is he didn't listen at but it didn't stop me making him realize how gambling changed his life. I told him that he will just suffer the consequences of his actions if he don't realize how it makes an impact on his financial status and health. I told him that there is so much more entertaining things other than gambling, it is difficult at first but he was able to handle himself because of the help of our other friends and his family.

All you did was right, losing in the game is such a bad thing, especially when you are already losing so much of your money, there are a gamblers that keep on betting even they already lost a significant amount of their money because they are still hoping that they can back their money and that is bad in gambling, you can not even control yourself from wasting your money because of the gambling.

I haven't tried to stop a gamblers from losing while wagering because I am not a person that is used from gambling sites, I don't have so much experience about gambling and to be honest, I am a shy type person, so I don't know how to approach a person when he is losing the game, I don't know how to start talking to him and honestly speaking I always want to do that things because I know the feeling of losing the game and it is really bad, but unfortunately, I am afraid of her or his reaction if I will going to talk to him when he is in the moment of losing.

If I will be in that situation and encountered a guy who's keep on losing but never have the nerve to stop.

I'll talk to him for a while and ask him to relax a bit and maybe some other day luck will come. But this is just for one time and if he resists and just ignore my words, I don't have responsibility to him. I've warned him already, one warning shall be enough.

LOL.. you would not do that if you are a gambler, just let the gambler do their thing, otherwise, you'll be ban in a casino.
There are people who really easily lose control, you are not in a business to tell them what to do, as a gambler, what you have to do is just to gamble.

Let them learn from their own mistake,

That is actually the main problem of every gambler, being greedy is really hard to escape. You have tried indeed, but there is really something inside of you that still wanted to continue even after losing so much money.
You should have had more control over yourself, you can bring back your losses by doing trading but that is not the case. You should have realized that gambling is just for fun and not to be made as an addiction.

This is a piece of friendly advice, do not vision a goal or a target to cover your past losses.
Keep on playing, that's fine, but you should have moved on and you should forget about those losses, it might result from you to lose more if you make a goal like that.
I agree those addicted gambler can't easily get away from gambling because they spend too much time on gambling. But still it can cured step by step no need to hurry just take your time to overcome your addiction and time will tell can cure you. For me I can stop gambling for a while if I know can cause me harm, I think having a goal can avoid you to addicton.

It's like my experience too, even now I still often experience it because I also play dice gambling. I realized the problem is I am too greedy.
whereas if I can play wisely and be able to control myself there is actually another safer way to recover that loss, that is by trading with the remaining capital I have. but in fact even though I have know that (the safer ways), still I haven't done it. maybe because trading takes time (must be diligently analyzing the market). Until now I can't to stop gambling, because I still have a target to achieve from my total losses in gambling. keep wagering! Grin

For me, I would rather advice the player and save him from losing.
...
Ideally, it’s better not to advise people but in my religion, it is wrong to see a brother making mistake and staying mute.
I understand that your intention was good mate. However, your method of directly confronting your friend when he was playing is generally a bad idea. If you want to give some advice to your friend, do it before or after the game, in a comfortable coffee shop, etc. It is to avoid any conflict that might arise when a person is under certain pressure and/or under the influence of alcohol, just like others have mentioned. You cannot reason with a person who is not thinking rational.
A gambler that is a terrible one will never even listen to advise, they will only keep telling you that they know what they are doing and how they believe that the last chance is what will make them win the game until they lose the whole thing completely and I don’t know why people become addicted to thing that they lose their mind and not able to see the truth a at the time they are meant to see it.

And in this case, what I would just do is to allow experience to teach him a lesson, because without such person failing, her or she would not learn for their mistake, so any gambler that does not have a listening here, can listen to failure when it comes back for him which will make him lose all his money, and then after that, he would have leaned his lessons.

I once did this to my uncle.. he (my uncle) was a gambling addict, he was very obsessed with winning at the gambling table.  one day he (my uncle) won big, then I persuaded him to stop and enjoy his winnings, but he was very greedy, he did not want to hear my persuasion.  finally, after several rounds, he lost all the money he had.

Well i have an experience wherein my friend which happen to be addicted in gambling and as we notice he can't stop in playing because he's reason is that he believes that he can recover it's lost and get more money but it's the opposite he just ruined his own life and suddenly drops in school because of financial problem, we tried to stop him, but when a person gets too addicted whether who attempted to stop him he still not stop and the result is fatal.

That is what people get if he still playing gambling because gambling soon or later will ruin his life, as you said. That will be a sad story, but I hope that your friend can learn from his mistake and try to raise his life. We can help him to get out of gambling forever, but that will need a strong effort from him so he can say NO to play gambling. We can suggest him to do another thing, and maybe he can start to work in real work and make him busy every day, so he will not think about gambling anymore.
The addiction of gambling is so bad that at times you need proper treatment and medication in order to get over your cravings for gambling. Your friend if is unable to differentiate between his losses and gains from gambling, then of course he needs some medical support. Simply by getting him involved into some other activity or by diverting his mind for some time, you cannot make him forget gambling.

Whats the use of advising the friend, when the game is over ? If you are a sincere friend, you should warn him if you see he is wagering too much and is on the losing side. He might be angry at that moment with you, but surely he will be thankful to you later when he will realize his mistake and you save him big money.

You can tell him and let him know the consequences of it but final decision will rest upon him and in gambling mostly when greed overpowers people do not listen to friends as well and you cannot do much in such a situation .

Exactly, the final decision is always dependent on a person, advice might help delaying his chances of losses by having second thoughts but it is not going to help him at all if his a hardheaded person, it sounds worst, but if we really want to help someone, we have to let them gamble as much as they can so they will receive the lesson they need by experience, an individual will not stop himself unless he will experience a life to death scenario.
