Not the main destination for investment. So when they launch a project, they already have enough participants to convince others to join them and invest in the project.
I can confirm that I have received a very low percentage of airdrops in which I participated voluntarily, but I was stupid of some of them and therefore I advise you not to give up because one is enough to find a small capital for free.
Some people who don't really focus on airdrops will probably earn a small amount.but for those who really work hard for the airdrop they are working on, they must have earned a lot of money from the airdrop.

If that were true then there might be a chance I might be missing on many things. Yes, but at the moment NFT is in a good trend so many people welcome this as a very positive thing, but I personally haven't tried it either because NFT is still very new to the crypto space so I'm still considering it.

I quite agree with you. Even though I don't really remember the last time I joined in any airdrop, I believe most of them are really valueless so I wouldn't want to involve my time in something that wouldn't really pay much, even some Bounties these days are becoming less valuable talkless airdrops. 
Airdrop used to be exciting and fully understood! Airdrop in the past has no strings attached and usually technical in that you have to mine it or freely distributed according to value and ethics of decentalization! Now, the story has changed. Airdrop are solely made to manipulate and get the receiver to give free work! We need to get back to the very idea of decentalization!
