There are still some contests and airdrops that are worth the effort (even for someone in a higher income country). The recent Solanium one was pretty good.
I do think launchpads are the future though.

I might agreed on your statement mate, because most of the airdrops that I had joined before are just a piece of shit only.
In short, it is a waste of time only if you join in any of the airdrops programs here in crypto space. They're might have a legit

Two out of hundreds airdrop are legit, in crypto space today teams are ready to cheat you even if their projects aren't scam, bounty hunters knows what I'm talking about, just because the project is trading on exchanges doesn't really mean you wil get your tokens
I can confirm that I have received a very low percentage of airdrops in which I participated voluntarily, but I was stupid of some of them and therefore I advise you not to give up because one is enough to find a small capital for free.

Haven’t really given up on airdrops. I still participated until now, but not that much because of my multiple crypto works and doing videos full-time. I have hopes on them since I have missed that big UNI and 1Inch airdrop last year. Etherlite might be the biggest airdrop this year and I’m happy that my wallet is qualified. There’s still money in these airdrops, but only a handful. Numbers game indeed.

Still, not worth to hunt for them. As I said above,,, already spent time before and will never spend the time again, or the effort. The work put into it is too much (even if it is just to sign from an address to get it somewhere else you have to research the contract to make sure it is safe). UNI was probably the last big one, and everyone else copying did not do as well.

In airdrops or campaigns there are a lot of projects, not closing the possibility that what we're saying is legit can be a scam, and vice versa, there are several ways to do it, you can work on it while you can do more, or you're working on what you think is good in the future. Both of them can both be money or even tricked just a different way. keep up the spirit.
Airdrops don't pay anymore, almost 90% of all airdrops I joined to take advantage of this bull market period have been in vain, I think they are scam they only plan to use people to chill their scam projects, it's been a long time since I've seen very good airdrop now, probably UNI and 1inch airdrops
Sorry, but my opinion is different, you chose the wrong Airdrop. like bounties, selecting airdrops is also necessary if you want to get profit. at least we try and don't carelessly choose if you don't want to be disappointed. I won't give up on joining airdrop. if anyone deserves why not.
Given up a long long time ago. If a coin I hold is doing an official airdrop then maybe, but if it needs to make additional effort I do not even want to bother since I do not have such big holdings anyway.
