I use ethereum to store the value while looking for other opportunitites in cryptocurrency. Moreover, I expect more upside from ethereum than from bitcoin in the long term so it is also kind of long run speculation for me. Hodl until you find better opportunity.

Etherium is foreseen to grow this year though i think it's certain and it's happening every year that ether does grow in value. I'm not against holding erh but if you have funds, yeah better to diversify your portfolio. A lot of coins are showing really good progress even for the long term like tron and verge

Well , to invest in ethereum is a good idea , ethereum will go up and if you will hold your ethereum you will make some profit . But i recommend you to invest not in just one coin , in 2 or more . You know why ? If you will invest in more icos you will have more chances to make profit . Maybe ethereum will drop dramatically in the next couple of weeks , what would you do if this will happen ?
