Hi, I just wanna ask how to overcome depression? I have a friend and she keeps telling me that she don't to live anymore and that it is better to die, she has lot of problems but she just keep it on her own, she is so depress and i can't find the right words to make her feel better. And also can't a person overcome depression on his/her own?

Depressions aren't all the same, just like people aren't all alike. About a third of depressions will lift on their own after weeks or months with no intervention. Another third benefit somewhat from treatment, but not enough to lift them out of their depression. Finally, there is an unlucky third group that won't respond to conventional treatment at all.


There are a number of things you can do to help your friend out:

- Physical exercise, from walking and on upwards, is one of the most effective means of combatting depression, and has been shown to be just as effective as antidepressants (for mild and moderate depressions -- severe clinical depression can be so damning that an affected person might not even respond to questions or orient towards a speaker, never mind get out of bed.

- Make activities easier for her to do. Like some wise man said a couple of posts above, doing this will always help. But its unlikely that she will initiative such things herself. Perhaps you could buy some movie tickets and bring them over to her in your car/carshare, so all she has to do is roll out of bed and into the taxi.

- Meditation helps many people with depression, because it enables you to view your emotions at a distance, rather than as a permanent part of yourself.

- Even being in nature for small amount of time seems to help.

- Some depressions are aggravated by diet, since your gut has more than 100 million neurons which also produce neurotransmitters relevant to depression, including serotonin, dopamine, oxytocin and GABA. Eating healthier can have a rather large effect rather quickly.

Best way to overcome depression is to keep yourself busy in different stuff. Dont let your mind free for feel alone and depress. To feel better you can try exercising or spending time with friends.

Look for support from people who make you feel safe and cared for. The person you talk to doesn’t have to be able to fix your depression, they just need to be a good listener someone who’ll listen attentively and compassionately without being distracted or judging you.

Hi! Maybe one thing to overcome depression is to make yourself busy, and always think positively, try to find what you interested with.

There are so many ways to overcome depression,you can hang out with your friends and talk about your problem,tell to your friends or your family what you feel so that they help you cope up with it.

Depression is not as easy to overcome as most people without depression would think/say. There are several types of depression as well as the causes. It is a mental disorder and sufferers can’t really help feeling depressed most of the time. Let’s have the most ideal or should I say worst case scenario, how would you recover if you were to lose all your family members in an accident and you are the only survivor, and lost both of your legs in the process? Not that easy now, right? I think the only cure to depression is being aware of your purpose in life and learn that there is more to it than what it seems.

If someone is feeling depression. I think he/she needs the guidance of his/her family and friend. She needs to feel that he/she is not. alone. He/she needs the support of the family and friends.
He/she also needs the Lord God in his/her life..And he/she should know that the Lord God love him so, and so life must go on and on and on.

She must keep herself busy. Find something worthwhile activities like going to sports club, find a part time job, or do some business. Also, go out with friends, happy and jolly friends, more often. Always talk to her and never talk about problems in life. Also, its good to watch movie, comedy, together or with group of friends.

Depression is not a simple problem. It can't be solved by the victim itself. He/she needs a companion or friends. But it can be really solved by going to psychiatrist.

Depression is one sensitive condition to deal with its not just a simply emotional problem but mentally,physically and spiritually one need to understand his or her case thoroughly so that he know how to start..what they need the most is sincerity, love, understanding and care let them feel it

What can we do when we feel hopeless, devastated, unmotivated, fatigued and overwhelmed with life? When we begin to feel depressed, it is important to remind ourselves to focus our time and energy.

Depression is a very serious problem actually. The easiest way is to change to turn attention to the pleasant things, meet friends, do things you like, enjoy  hobbies, do sports, the main task is to get rid of negative thoughts by replacing them with positive ones. In the case of a prolonged depression, it is better to contact a specialist, psychotherapist or psychologist

It often happens that a person who is depressed becomes emotionally stupid, in other words - he reacts sluggishly to what is happening around. Household troubles accumulate in the soul like a snow coma, and some joys of life remain almost unnoticed. Suppressed feelings somehow require an exit, which means that they must somehow be awakened. Try to look for new impressions, starting from going to the theater for a good performance and ending with a small trip.

Always be positive and accept life is like a wheel that not all the time you are on the top. Always know and confess what life you want to be. 

The problem with depression is you can't be positive. People have it exactly for that reason. They are depressed- sad and thinking about the negative. Try telling someone like that to be positive. -you're worried? Don't worry, be positive! LOL

To overcome depression you need someone positive and full of energy in your life. That person will fill you up with positive vibes, Tell you a joke, make you forget about problems. I think it's the easiest way to overcome it.

Most people got depressed because they can't overcome their stress. And I think the best solution on this matter is He/She must be with her family, relatives, closest friend that can comfort her or must amuze himself or herself into something that will relieve his/her pain.

Depression is the common thing nowadays. We are so stressed with our lives that we cannot enjoy it the way we wish. Depression is the condition that is bothering many people in this hard world and it is hard to escape from "conditions claws". Every man or a woman must find her happiness in his/her life and overcome that state of mind because if the process of the depression advances it is the harder to get the clear state of the mind. My advice for anyone with the depression is to confess your problems to someone close cause problems can be solved easier if there is someone that is out there for you with whom you can split your burden that is bothering you.

Seek professional help. It is not something to be disregarded. Depression is a serious condition that needs to be addressed if not it may lead to suicide.
