As a nurse myself i found that quitting is a matter of descision you just tell yourself that this is enough and you should maintain it ,do not keep waiting for the urge and the need of smooking to go away , just live with it untill it goes on its own it may take long but be patient.

I quit smoking with an electronic cigarette. At first I bought liquids with a higher nicotine content than in a normal cigarette. Then gradually reduced the content of nicotine and after 3 months I already used non-nicotine fluids, but now I do not need for an electronic cigarette at all. By the way, I smoked for 15 years.

First of thanks for every suggestion. I slowly over the years became a smoker. I became aware of my addiction. I tried quiting several timer, but every time I would come back to it and smoke even more.

I tried two things so far:

1. Fully stoping to smoke
2. Gradually reducing

But it backfired every time. How did you stop?

I once a smoker , a chain smoker to be exact . I can smoke more than one pack of cigarette a day  then. I started to smoke when was 17 years old and i quit it when i am 30 years of age. For now its been almost three years when i quit smoking. At first it was hard for me to stop smoking , its quite difficult for me not to smoke in one day. But stop it slowly , instead of buying a cigarette , i buy a candy to chew. That starts for me to not smoke . Quitting smoking requires a strong self control and strong self discipline to accomplish it.

while some smokers successfully quit by going cold turkey, most people do better with a tailored plan to keep themselves on track. a good quite plan addresses both the short-term challenge of stopping smoking and the long-term challenge of preventing relapse. it should also be tailored to your specific needs and smoking habits.

You must think you can manage it by yourself, you must have discipline that it will take a week, month to pull out that addiction on cigarette.

I'm a smoker years back and i quit smoking around 5 years ago. Now I'm smoke free since then. I've tried alot of smoking cessation techniques like nicotine patches, gum, tapering, exercise all that stuff. What's effective for me was vaping. I was introduced to vaping and since then i loved it. it's like a nicotine delivery system without the tar and smoke. I really felt better after vaping. My breathing came easier, i smell better i even taste food better since i vaped. You could even control your nicotine intake these days with it

Keeping busy is a great way to stay smokefree on your quit day. Being busy will help you keep your mind off smoking and distract you from cravings.
Think about trying some of these activities:
Exercise.
Get out of the house for a walk.
Chew gum or hard candy.
Keep your hands busy with a pen or toothpick, or play a game in the QuitGuide app.
Drink lots of water.
Relax with deep breathing.
Go to a movie.
Spend time with non-smoking friends and family.
Go to dinner at your favorite smokefree restaurant

quitting smoking is a choice. if you choose to live life longer, quit smoking. smoking is dangerous to your health. pretty sure it’s not an easy task but with the courage to be able to quit smoking, you will be able to quit from it. without courage, everything will always be a plan. a plan without action.

Just tell yourself that if you can't stop, that's 'cos you've got no balls. That worked for me. And I lived 2 weeks with cigarettes and lighter in the pocket without touching them.

It is not easy to stop what you have been addicted to. But when it  comes to the issue of life one needs to put in what it would take to stop it
