If I had 5 ethereum, I would keep it till to see the bull season, instead of looking for some ICOs to make some investments. Because I think holding is very important in this term and in my opinion, ethereum is a very promising altcoin.
I believe the best thing to do now is to wait for an ICO to hit the market. Seems every ICO lose over 50% of their value the moment they are listed these days. Just saying though.
It seems to me that it is not worth investing all the money in one ICOs. Besides this, many frauds, did you not think to invest in several promising coins?

If you really wanna buy ICO then do research at your end, as many ICO get their rank up in ICO analyze sites by paying a amount of BTC/ ETH so its barely you can do is trust on them, go to their LinkedIn profile and check their post and other users who posted on it analyze their profile which will give you idea of scam profile / real profile. background of Founder and their social networks, if some founder is showing that the business is big then you can send a mail to that company support team to verify it, and if still you think the ICO looks good you can proceed.
Still i don't recommend you to invest your whole ETH, keep 70% for future and invest 30% in ICO or lower amount

5 ethereum to invest on an ICO I think it will be too small, it will not be worth the time you would spend waiting for the coin to be pumped, even for your purchase price. because usually the price of coins will fall below the price of ICO when first entered the exchanger
Thats correct base on my expereince too. I thonk its better to hold it in eth ,the way it is. Or, you can buy some coins on dip, i dont advise to buy in ico unless you have extensibly research it. Its very risky.
I suggest you hold your 5 ETH because right now the price of ethereum is low and for sure it will go higher in the close future.

Buying an ICO is not a bad idea but getting scammed is. You have to be very careful to find a good ICO else you might loose your funds without a trace. And also don't put all your eggs in the same basket. Try diversifying your money. Don't apply for one, infact go for more then one.
Buy altcoins wait until eth rises and get your money, man 😀
I think you should invest in an ICO but some information are recommended for every one who is going to invest in ICO market, first you may choose out best ICO from ICO market. the best way for identification is you can study company profile, project detail etc. because without study you can lost your money. After brief knowledge of an ICO, you can invest it.
I sincerely advise you not to consider buying any ICO. I hope that you don't trust any rating website. Even if you want to invest, I think that investing half of your ETH is enough, because even a good ICO will fail!
Don't invest all amount in 1 ico. You have to diversify your investment. Another point is that hype ICOs don't allocate more than 1-2 ETH, so 5 ETH is appropriate to invest in 3-4 ICO
