Edit: I have now invested 100% into Skycoin

I have 12 Bitcoins. I am not a whale. I started about 6 months ago with 0.01 Bitcoins and $1000. I turned it into 12 Bitcoins so far and am pretty proud to say the least.

My question is, what do I do now?

As far as I can see, I have 4 options;

1) Hold the Bitcoin

2) Invest in altcoins and leave a little in Bitcoin

3) Fund a project and start my own cryptocurrency that solves a problem that current currencies face (scalability, Tx fees etc.). With the funds, I would be able to assemble a team, start a marketing campaign, get listed on exchanges etc. I am also a programmer which helps.

4) Convert it to fiat (probably the dumbest idea)

Edit: I should also add, I dropped out of school and have all the time in the world so can fully commit to any idea. I will earn my living of cryptocurrencies.

A few people have asked how I made my money so, if you are interested, here is a short summary:

Initially, I put it all into Bitcoin during the massive FUD of the fork around June when Bitcoin dipped to $1,900. Then I put half my money into NEO before all of the hype at around $12 and cashed out at $40. Then I invested in a couple ICO's and turned a pretty good profit of off the hype. After that, I got back in on NEO as soon as China announced the regulations regarding ICO's and rode the wave back from around $20 to $40 (I can't quite remember). Then, I rode the hype of Ethereum Dark, eBitcoin and a few other airdrop scams. Finally, I got in on Wincoin before it got to coinmarketcap and turned a 20x profit.

Bitcoins are falling these days so moving it into different platforms will just make you cut your loss and lose that money forever. I advice that just wait until the bitcoins became $20k again and then after that you can now diversify your money into different investments like altcoins because there are allegedly successful altcoins and that will be so nice just in case the bitcoins really drops at least you have a lot of back ups because that is a lot of monwy you have there

I think you are good in holding in bitcoin or you are good in trading. You get high profits buy trading in bitcoin. Why you dont trade in other coins so you more profit too.  But dont get all of your bitcoin just get only, I think 1brc for trading in other coins, then that 1btc can get more profits too. I think you can get a good bussiness too you can achieve your dreams by spending some of your bitcoin too.

I think you should keep 5 bitcoin in your account, sell 2. and do buy- altcoins can earn good money if you follow the market. but most of them are already increasing in line with BTC, so that the biggest gain will already be from BTC.

The price of bitcoins has fallen in recent days so its good to hold bitcoins for next few months as its expected that it can achieve the price of $25k in next year so selling at that price can give huge profits but if you are a risk taker and want to grow your bitcoins faster then you can invest some of it in different altcoins and try to multiply your coins faster.

Hold onto them! See far high the price can go. 2017 was an amazing year for bitcoin and even if it is half successful in 2018 it's going to be amazing.

Although I would have picked the second option to have invested half in bitcoin and keep the other half in alts, but the alts that you have chosen is the next big think. I would hold skycoin to 100x from here.

follow ICO to double the bitcoin you have, but you have to choose the ICO that has the chance to succeed in the future, in order to get a big profit.

Keep 8 of them in BTC, spread the others for small market-cap good projects. Wait for the future Smiley

Invest part of the bitcoin in stocks or mutual funds. Invest in business venture, I recommend get a franchise of a known brand so you will have lesser risk. Buy altcoins that look promising. Put your eggs in different baskets so that in case one or two of your investments fail you still have others to cling to.

If i were, Bitcoin give a big part. I think it makes sense to keep more than half in Bitcoin.
You can go to Altcoin with the rest and you can do trade.
I agree, 50% of BTC, about 20% for the ICO investment and 25% for other coins like: ETH, NEO, ICX, etc...
Not a bad way of distributing that 12 bitcoins. I'm also thinking about 50% that will we be safe in bitcoin and that's good for holding it for most time. And with your percentage there is still enough for other investments since you just gave 95% for it.

I'll put some of it with ETH and the remaining of it which is 5% will be used for myself. Taking time to relax and have some vacation with that amount.

I would decrease the ICO investments, 20% is too much for such a big amount of capital. It should be at most 10% and the rest should stay in bitcoin or promising high volume altcoins.
It depends on how you'll see those ICO investments as profitable thing. 20% is a good percentage to allocate but only for those promising ICO's. Looking on those ICO's that has strong and recommended developers behind those projects.

It's not a big amount since you have 12 bitcoins(assuming) and that's like 2 BTC's. You can even diversify it.

I will advice you to keep 40% of your bitcoin in BTC.
then put 20% in ethereum
you can buy a few good ICOs you have researched with the remaining 40% of your btc

I bet you wont go wrong this way.

If I were you, I would keep half of it and spend half of it on altcoins. It is essential that you should spread it on different wallets, especially if you have an offline paper wallet or hardware wallet like Trezor and Nano.

Skycoin - is pretty nice, to my mind and it has a future. But if I were you, I would hold 6 BTC and buy skycoin on the other half. Anyway, wish you good luck with your choice!

Use it wisely. Save 6 Btc with yourself. Now Invest the other half wisely in top ICOs after reading different roadmaps. Now after that try to take profits of them then re-invest with the one you already had.

If you were able to make 12 bitcoins out of 0.01 bitcoins and 1000 dollars, then continue to do so. Make of your 12 bitcoins even more. You can divide the deposit into three parts. One part to trade, the second to invest in altkoins for a long period, and leave the third part in bitcoins.

Anyone know what OP did?

At the time, investing in some alts could have easily turned that 12 into 100.

I personally would have cashed out half when they hit 20k, then split the rest into alts.

hold your Bitcoin for a couples of months and update or monitor the rate of it every now and then to see if it getting higher or lower Your 12 Bitcoin will increase maybe 2-4x amount of it then after that make a plan what you do with your Bitcoin either you invest it or trade it its up to you.. what matter is you gain your so desire amount you can do more that what you expect with that.
