With the number of points England currently have, they are pretty sure to play in the Champions Trophy. England can play the Champions Trophy as the seventh team and there will be a big battle between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh for the eighth position. Bangladesh's next match is against Australia and Sri Lanka's next match is against New Zealand. The match against New Zealand will be very difficult for Sri Lanka whereas the match against Australia will be very difficult for Bangladesh. If Sri Lanka is well defeated against New Zealand, on the other hand if Bangladesh is defeated against Australia by a big margin, then Sri Lanka will play the Champions Trophy and Bangladesh will be eliminated from the Champions Trophy.
Nothing is 100% sure yet, yeah odds are favoring them.
But what if England managed to lose the last match against Pakistan and that too by a big margin? What if Sri Lanka vs New Zealand match washed out and they share 1 point each?
No hope for Bangladesh against Australia but you never know and what if the Dutch win the match against India too?
For everyone, this is a dead rubber fixer but Poor Poms are playing for their Champions Trophy qualification. They'll win tonight but automatic qualification is still at risk because they are not alone in this race as Bangbros and the Lankans are also competing for the last 2 positions.
NZ (WC semis slot) vs SL (CT qualification)
AUS vs BAN (CT qualification))
PAK (WC semis slot) vs ENG ((CT qualification) -We will witness an epic meltdown like the death of the ODI format
lol if England fails to qualify-.
And Party Pooper fixture for at least 1 test playing nation
IND vs NED (CT qualification)
My take on the games that are meant to qualify automatically for the Champions Trophy:
- Srilanka won't qualify for the Champions Trophy as they would lose today or if the match gets canceled due to rain.
- Bangladesh might not qualify if Australia takes the game seriously
- England should qualify which means they might be able to beat Pakistan considering the kind of game played by them yesterday.
- Again if India plays the match against the Netherlands in the same manner they have been playing then the Netherlands might not qualify
Considering the Kiwi's luck there are lot of ifs and buts
