In my opinion, this problem depends a lot on good ICO selection. By if a quality and potential ICO, clear in transparency. Exposure to their tokens in pre-ICOs is usually much more profitable. By giving a number of tokens for sale in the ICO. They see and adjust prices at a consistent level.

Sometimes it is better to wait for an exchange... Because the most coins are getting hammered below ICO price as soon as they are tradable on an exchange... I try to buy the overhyped ICOs on an exchange. I only participate in ICOs which are under the radar.

If everyone will think so it is better to buy coins on exchanges but not on ICO, then no project can be implemented, including those that could be useful to people!

Today it is better to buy only at the exchange. there are just too many scam ico. even good ico have become scam later. I would always buy only if the project is listed. and then I buy from the bounty people under ico price. but only if the dev are still active.
I agree, for me I preferred to buy in the exchange mostly Ico's are scam. Some Ico dev doesnt like to develop their project anymore once it become successful. Better buy in the exchange because in an Ico we dont know yet what will it be after.
But we know examples, when price at the moment of listing is more, than ICO's price in 2-3 times. Recent projects for example: Huobi Token, Arcblock.
All those projects have something commo-they were sold out in very short time. So if you see that presale is more than half of hard cap for example, it's better to buy at ICO most of times.

I have a strategy. If im really interested in a ICO, i look first at how many tokens will be given away on the bounty campaign. When theres a lot of tokens or coins in the bounty campaign, i participate on the bounty campaign when its possible. If theres a huge bounty pool, a lot of bounty hunter will drop the coins as soon as they got listed on the exchanges. So i got my tokens for free on the bounty and on a very cheap price after the listing. But this dont work on every ico.

on ICO offer bonuses, but after ICO when the token goes to the stock exchange the price usually falls heavily, it's hard to say which is more advantageous, it is necessary to look at the situation.

ICO projects are collecting huge amounts of money. It's hard to manage jobs that collect that much money. Everyone who invests wants to see good things and success. Some ICOs provide very good returns.

Buy on ico if the market on bullish and when the market on bear dont put on ico. Like many succeed ico most of them did ico when market on full bullish but when the market on bear like yesterday many ico token or coin going down after released on exchanger. But thats just anothe opportunity to buy more that token if it is under ico price like crypterium.

To buy or not to buy - that is the question ;)

I guess it is possible just to issue a token, and if you have money you can list it on exchanges, bu ready to spend 25 BTC for listing))) Then no problem to skip an ICO

I usually invest in the long term, and it's rare that I participate in ICOs. It can be a great risk to invest in them, and I also think the ICO market is slowing down and it's increasingly common for the token price to go down once it goes out to the exchange.
Although it's true that in some ICOs a good short-term benefit can be obtained with the bonuses, if the project is solid it will usually give greater long-term profitability. So I prefer to wait to see how the project evolves, and buy when it's listed on exchange. Sometimes you can even buy below ICO price.

Stocks have now fallen in price for some robust projects. For long-term investments I think it will be healthier to compile from the stock market. However, some ICOs earn 4-5 times as fast as they do.

Some ICO projects are selling out and they are making 10x on the exchages. For these projects, you better get your tokens during ICO, you won't be able to buy from ICO and then you can't also buy it from exchange due to extreme prices.
But it is almost impossible to distinguish which coins are going to go down or up after the ico, most of the time is gong to be a matter of luck rather than skill, to me it seems the ico market is slowing down and most icos I have seen in the recent times drop in price after the ico so it seems the enthusiasm for this kind of investing is going down and it makes sense after all the regulation put in place in the last year.

I think your definitely right, I think more and more ICO's are also explaining from the outset that there will not be a massive pre sale reduction and instead opting to drive the coin price on its merit rather than just making it to cheap not to invest.

Most token price after ico is dump, depend on that true token value and the price will recover fast or slow. But mostly price will drop 50% than ico price.
your correct, but some token is higher on ICO price, but mostly on the first exchange is a dump ,because of airdrops and bounty campaigns but if you hold your token it will return to its initial value.

Buying at the time of ICO is the best option, as after the ICO price will increase many times, however, it is also risky that you will lose everything because of a number of causes such as scams or problematic ICO. technically But if you do a lot of research and you invest properly, it will bring you much profit.

Buying at the time ICO is the best choice because after listing the coin value increasing, I am bit nervous many times about the situation so I started buying them at the time of ICO only. At the same time we have to find the company background and whether they has any potential to develop what they mentioned in roadmap.
