It's currently tulip season. Grin We're in the middle of a market crash. We'll probably be able to get some huge discounts on upcoming and recent ICOs on the exchanges. Just check out Trinity Network, Bloom, and Selfkey. Heck, even Kin is poised to drop beneath $1oo mil, and maybe even Dragonchain in a few days.

How often does the price get lower than the ICO price when a new coin is listed on its first exchange house ?

How come there are coins that are worth like 0.0004 $, usually during an ICO one coin is sold in the range of 1$ or not ?

Do some "coins" skip the ICO stage ?

I think buying coins when ico is more profitable because you will get some bonus tokens.
while when the coin enter your exchanger will not get any bonus.
Not all Ico is profitable, be carefull on which one you are investing to because you might end up losing everything in 1 snap.

That is the risk of an ICO , you are paying a set value , so if you want to take a big risk you buy during the ico and hope it all works out. If you want to be safer you can wait till the coin hits the exchanges , then you will see the real popularity of the project . Just keep in mind that some ico's buy their own coins to make the project look more in demand.

There has been some ICO's that are cheaper once they get listed on an exchange.  Look into the bounties, if the project is allocating a large amount of coins for the bounties, there is a chance it will dip when the bounty hunters dump.  I would also wait until an exchange if the ICO requires a KYC verification.

Buying coins while its on ICO stage is good since you'll get bonus tokens but if it hits exchangers there's a possibility that the value of the coin dips because ICO holders will eventually dump the coins they bought at ICO stage so there's a possibility that the price would be less than the ICO price. But due to KYC these days, it is really hard to participate on ICOs now so other wait and buy later on exchangers if they see that the coin has a huge potential in the market.

If you study the ICO project carefully, I think you should buy it during the ICO because it's the cheapest. You can see a lot of ICO projects after the trade has increased many times over the ICO value because current trend of sustainable investment with ICO projects is accelerating. Investors do not want to sell when ICO goes on sale and want to invest long term on it.

It's best to wait until the last moment of ICO. If the number of tokens sold was not large in relation to the number of tokens allocated for a bounty campaign, then it is very likely that immediately after entering the exchange, bounty hunters will dump tokens, the price will go down, and you will be able to buy tokens even half cheaper than in ICO.

it depends on the ico itself and of course the timing. Like if you bought anything that went on the market from 25dec to 5jan, also if you bought something really wortless it made at least a 3x from ico price, if something go tomarket now, or it's a really strong project or it's going under ico price due to the market situation

Buying on presale is much better than that of buying after getting listed to the exchanges. Before getting listed to the exchanges we don't know what happens with the concern token, but it helps in predicting the market and invest accordingly once after getting listed to the exchanges.

The real problem is that most of the ICOs don't end well and we must have good analysis prior the investment into certain ICO. After exchanges are listing the coin investors are more secured because the token was transformed into the coin. Starting price is determined by the developers but the further price is being determined by the demand. It is true that the ICO(pre-ICO) buy can bring you a significant amount of the profit afterward but there are higher risks involved than on the exchanges.

It is all about natural risk. You can buy tokens on exchange but there will hardly be any gains, or little. Sure but not much profitable. At ICO you have some risks but you can gain something, plus bonuses
You should never consider bonuses when investing in a coin, many people get blinded by it and invest in a project by taking a rush decision when they could have used that time to study the project instead and if they did that they would have never invested in the first place, so forget about the bonuses in fact the bigger the bonuses the biggest the chance an ico is a scam.

if we are really want to get involve to ico projects, our mind set must be for long term purposes, because the best value of the ico and specially those successfully manage and run will be determined 6 months or more after it was released on exchange.thats the best idea for those who wanted to be in ico profiteering

You always need to do your research before the ICO happens ( foundation of the token , background infos, et cetera) some ICOs end up dumping to a below ICO price after getting listed on an exchange.
But most of the times with solid projects and having the opportunity to buy in during the pre-sale you should take it. With buying during the pre-sale the chances of taking a loss are pretty slim if the project you invest in isn't an outright scam. So my Opinion definitely is buying during the ICO it's worth the risk to me.

I agree that buying at ICO price is worth the risk.. It will give us a huge profit if the project become successfull later..

But yes, the most important thing is, we have to do our research before, and make sure if the project looks promising in the future or not ~
The problem is that it is difficult to determine whether ICO will succeed or not.
despite reading the WP and analyzing the team, we still can not ensure ICO successfully token sales.
this is the biggest risk, I choose to buy when the coins are listed on the Exchange.

Yes it is better to buy during ICO stage of a project. Like you said you can get much more token on bonuses and promos during that period. But this is very risky, you'll never know if the project will succeed or not. I know that there risks everywhere, the point is it is more risky to buy during ico than when it is released on the exchanges. At least when it is released, you can have assurance that you will get your investment back compare to those still on ico. So to get assurance in an ico to succeed, you must analyze the capability of the project in every aspect.

At the moment it's better to invest in ICO, but it's not so easy to do.
Usually all whitelists are now very quickly closed.

You should buy coins during ICO because they have pre-sale, private sale and public sale which are very cheaper before it will be listed in the market. In addition, you will get bonus coins when you join and buy their coins during these sales but you should review carefully the ICO because it might be a scam or it will not going to success losing your investments.

If you have to invest, then think about holding long term. In this case, it does not really matter if you got it at big discounts or if you got it from exchanges, but make sure you enter early. Pre sale, or actual main general sale, or fresh from exchange listing. Of course, if you see a project you believe in and are willing to hold for a year or more (preferably more) then just go ahead and buy it. Speculators are rife in presale, bounty and early trading, do not trust the prices you see during these times.

The only ICO I took part in wasn't profitable with the increase in ether over that time. But looking at a lot of other ICOs, they can be hugely profitable. The best way to do it is to pool in with others so you can get the largest bonus possible.
