The only way to make substantial amount of money from a dead project is through pump and dump scheme. You can invest in the project to give the public a view that the project has been revived and after many persons flock to the project, you sell out leaving them with the worthless tokens and cash out of the project.

There used to be 2 coins that the purpose of them was to burn dead coins. The problem was the coins had to at least have a value on the currency checking websites like coingecko or it wouldn't be accepted. The idea was to "clean up" al the dead crypto and trapped crypto in peoples wallets that will probably never see the light of day again. You were meant to exchange these for the projects native token. This is why if you holding coins you have a bad feeling about or coins that do not appear to be doing well or have no use. Rather sell them and make something then keep them forever and make nothing.

Once I spot a coin in my possession which belongs to a project with zero progress, even if I got the coin via airdrop, I don't hesitate to dump. The problem is that, most of such Shitcoins never get listed or have very poor trading volume even if they are listed officially or unofficially on DEX mostly which permit that. I have a few in my possession, I already counted as loss.

There are lots of coins or other cryptos that have died out there and I even feel some bad things because I have bought them, of course there are many factors that make them die but when they have been traded until there is no more demand happening then obviously the coin has died without knowing the clear reasons for all of that, because at first the coin had even just been listed at one of the exchanges until even the pump had occurred. So, we can not produce anything from the coin and what else we look for there when the coin has been abandoned.
I also bought altcoin for my trade, at the time I bought it the price went up very high, but after I bought the coin, the price dropped very deep and until now there is no value for example I sell it, I do not know later can increase the price again or not , or rather coins will die and will never be listed again in the market.

Once a coin or token gets abandoned they lose value so much that the exchanges they are listed on are forced to delist the coin or token, there is no way you can make profit out of them, leave them and move on

There are hundreds of dead cryptos, the majority of them are ERC-20 tokens on Ethereum blockchain. For example, the most projects holding Bounty campaigns since 2018 have stopped development of their projects, so their tokens had become useless.

I know just Xel but I'm not fully sure it's dead. My worry is what happens when Bittrex decides to delist the token? It's listed on only Bittrex and there's no form of development going on with the project.

I think it will be more difficult to revive a dead coin, because there are already many investors who do not believe it, of course it takes extra promotion. therefore many developers choose to make a new project again.
Yes, if we look at it logically, it is indeed very difficult to revive dead coins rather than reviving new projects, because developers are still able to attract investors in new projects, but will not be able to make investors to trust dead coins.

What dead crypto currencies do you know?

What are the possibilities for crypto currencies that almost can't be exchanged any more?

Do you have any ideas how to make money on big amounts of abandoned cryptos?

I doubt this is possible from Your Own end. If you really need the project to be active, you need to support the project too(not necessarily financially). Most or all of these currencies failed probably because their originators were out if ideas on how to keep them alive and active. In my erc20 wallet, I have a lot of them. My friends too.... They have it them in a large quantity. It's either you help resurrect/rebuild the platform that owns the cryptocurrency or use them as a decoration to your wallet

If one have good plan for advertising campaign, he can possibly "revive" a dead coin. Of course aside from popularity, if the crypto is truly useful and relevant right now, other people will catch up on its potential train. It will be difficult but it is not impossible to "revive" a dead coin. It can also work but it can also burn bright and short lived too.

Agree, for coins that are no longer actively traded, it is difficult to come back and win the trust of investors again. Except with the new roadmap and also the developer team that has a reputation in the world of cryptocurrency and massive marketing strategies
we can see now, the old altcoin that used to pump, and finally dumped, only a few of them had the stimulus to get back up. with the innovation I think can restore new confidence, I agree with you. unfortunately not many old altcoins are dead doing that

You can make it alive again and that's possible to happen but the problem is how you can get the trust again from the investors. The bad coin will always have a very bad reputation and this can't be abandoned. even if you have created a good coin and when your reputation has already destroyed and none will try to use your tech
So many developer has tried this and they are all fail

At coinmarketcap, we can see over 5000 altcoins officially listed. But surely more than 80% of the altcoins there died and became scams, with too many weak projects and scams causing the market to collapse as it is today. Even in 2019, I see a few projects in the top 100 that have become scams, like QKC, CMT ... In 2020, I hope the market will only have about 200 altcoins active. At that time, investors will focus on quality altcoins and help the price go up
And you need to think about the following, those are the coins that made it, those are the coins that are big enough to be listed by such websites, there are many other coins that tried to get there and failed and their project died really quickly, so most likely at any given day there are probably a number of coins that double that amount, meaning the situation in the market is many times worse than we imagine and even if I want that most of those coins disappear this is never going to change since scammers are still getting profits with their bad projects.

The past two years have been brutal for the majority of altcoins to say the least. One statistic has been positive however, and that is fewer crypto projects ‘died’ in 2019 than in 2018.

I suppose that is the case for most of us, I have several dead coins in my wallet and no one is willing to accept them, we must accept the reality of this, when a coin is dead no one is going to accept those coins even if you gave them away for free since if they wanted to get rid of those coins they will need to pay a fee if the coin is running above the ETH network which means that it will cost them money to accept your gift and no one is going to ever accept such useless gift.

I think the only way to make money with dead altcoins is to find an idiot, promise him that he will become a millionaire if he buys them, and find ways to get paid as much as possible ...
Obviously, if you are not afraid that someone will break your legs ...
