You should not take any advise here, you should be the one responsible for your money cause it is your hard earn FIAT
You definitely have your reason for saying this which I also understand due to the advice been giving to people this days but in this kind of situations I believe the OP did not know what or which coin to invest in which is why he seek for our advice and if I were the OP I will put my money on bitcoin. 
If I hard that $500 then I would invest into Etherium and Bitcoin right now. Cause now price of this two crypto coin is very cheap.
$500 is a capital that is not so big in my opinion, holding will not generate big profits even though it increases 2 times in a year, so I would prefer to trade it, to grow first. then if my assets have expanded, I will think of holding some of my assets
500$ in Altcoins today is like 5k to 10k in Altcoins last year

At the moment, I would have invested in Bitcoin. It seems to me that this coin is reliable. In addition, I would pay attention to the top coins.
My favorite coin apart from BTC is Monero, so I choose it, although I think that it will not bring overprofits. If I take lowcaps, I like BitTube.
At the moment I would not have invested this money in any alternative coin. It seems to me that now is not the right time for this.

None of the coins listed by the author of the topic impresses me as an investment tool due to the fact that these are all the coins that have been pumped many times before. I like new projects, the old ones are not so promising.
I am more interested in eth and btc for investment because etht and btc has a large market and volume in each market so it's maybe to be able to take profits from eth and btc in time per day
500 dollars is quite a small amount to spend on buying Bitcoin. If you invest it in Bitcoin, then you will have to wait for your big profits for decades. Better put this money into Etheera. A good Swiss project that can bring you tens of times more income and much faster.

If I had money now, I keep it in dollars, I dont trust to bitcoin and any altcoins in these days and I suggest to you same thing. Market is like crazy so I will wait more for investment, didnt buy anything from 7 months and I'm happy for doing this. Where you invest your money today?
