I think every prize hunter already knows about it, but we know that everyone has their own activities and they lose information of course for several reasons. Regarding KYC issues, each team has the right to decide or change the project rules at any time, but I agree that this is the importance of the project's media channel so as not to miss the latest information from the project itself.

It's seems many still don't know the importance of social media channels and telegram groups of the coins and tokens they own or promotes

Some hunters and investors lose vital informations like

1. Token swap
2. Smart contract swap
3. Bounty KYC
4. Bounty payout time and date

Many investors and bounty hunters makes this mistakes over and over and later they blame the project team. Just imagine the damages these can create.

I agree with you, investment in any project be it cash investments or through bounty requires the investor to be actively in touch with the project incase of any developments and the perfect way to get involve with the team easily is through social media especially the telegram channel. For bounty hunters, telegram is so important because most projects do post bounty updates only in telegram groups and channels

Now people are no longer too concerned about the social channels of the projects. They only care about the products and prices of those projects, all for profit. But for the big and top projects in this market, they always build a big community because if the project doesn't have a community of support, it will surely be abandoned in the future.

If you are following or promoting a project you should always follow every channel available for the project, telegram, Twitter, Facebook, etc to avoid missing out on any valuable information and updates, but I somehow understand why few bounty hunters misses this opportunity, bounty projects takes time to pay and waiting after waiting can make one get tired of the project but still to avoid letting your hardwork go to waste it's better to always check their channels, I do this everyday

I think they understand the importance, but when you are planning an exit scam is a bad idea to make a big promotion. That only will makes the scammer more traceable.

You will always see a good social media campaigns for coins who are not planed as a scam.

It's the responsibility of anyone to follow each channel, mediums or social media accounts that the project you are supporting. This was already accustomed even during the early days of social media to follow companies that you support.
Someone who lacks of update but has the resources to follow those pages might not be aware of this practice. It's very typical to follow them to all of pages and accounts they have.

OP has a big point here, I remember Cartesi bounty campaign, after bounty ends many bounty hunters don't bother to check telegram for updates and another form was later released for bounty participants to fill and drop their eth address, this makes many lose their rewards in the end, I hope they learn from their mistakes

The social media channels are very important for all projects because it was like an active medium or information portal for the project's progress and development, achievements, listing, and promotion, etc. without social media, all of those crypto projects are boring and in a hard time to disseminate all the information they want to share for all of its investors, users and supporters. Thats why for me social media serves as an important part of all crypto projects today.

Investors and bounty participants should follow their project closely specially when they haven't swapped as mentioned on their roadmap. The project should also give enough time for it's investors to swap the coin and send all of them emails personally. The complication also remains when you have a large number of coins to track. So, IMO it's better to hold just a dozen of coins at max and keep a close look at their development.

Joining social media channels is important when you join their bounty campaign. Because they inform every update of the project through social media channels. It is often seen that project teams add some new rules after the end of ico. This is because the fewer hunters are paid, and the more hunters can be eliminated the more, it is their intention. So if you join their social media channel you will know every update. And they won't let you down easily.

Not just for bounty payments, many times many investors have lost their money due to token swap. I myself have been a victim of it. I bought a coin, and the team decided to swap the tokens. They gave updates on their social media channel but I didn't join their channel, so I didn't get the news of the swap. The result was that I lost my money. So even if you buy any coin, you should join their social media channel.

It's [CURRENT YEAR] so you have to have a social media presence.

Joke aside, yes. If your project doesn't have social media, how do you expect to reach people? How do you expect us to believe that you're interested in decentralization if everything happens in a shady backroom with no communication to investors and community members? Most of the TOP 50 coins are there thanks to their communities and not due to the tech backing them up.

This is very common with some hunters, they are very quick to join bounty but never quick to follow updates by joining all the social media of this project if necessary not to miss out, but some hunters just fail to understand this important part, is the reason why some hunters will complain about stakes long after spreadsheet was handed over to team.

...
Sometimes, some bounty hunters or investors are not interested to join the channel. Or, they probably don't know that the projects have a certain channel. Or, they are not active in the channel or telegram group. Actually it is not only about the telegram group but also Discord, Linkedin, and many more.
. Number 1 to 4 seems to be the information for the bounty hunters. But for the investors, most of the developer team will contact them through the email or others. They are rarely for the investors to be active in the telegram group like what is done by the bounty hunter.
For the bounty hunter itself, the functions of the groups do not only for those things.

Here are some additions:
1. To communicate with the Bounty manager, project developer, and also other participants.
2. To reveal or know early if the project is a scam or not,
3. To communicate any complains or issues during the bounty or after the bounty
4. To solve problems when there is something wrong with the bounty hunters or its BM.

However, the most important thing to be active in social media is to communicate and discuss everything about the project, bounty campaigns, rules, changing requirements, and other important announcements.

That's why it is important to read everything before joining a campaign and as a bounty hunter before I did make some mistakes that almost waste my hardwork if not being compensated. Luckily, the manager is quite good that he still give me a chance to give some of my stakes, although it is not that complete but still I'm lucky to get my share for working so hard in a couple of months.

You are right in some of the points you listed above but I think that the reason some. hunters don't follow keenly, the channels by checking on a very close intervals is because at the end of the day, it amounts to time wasting because no matter how you want to follow the channels, a scam project will only waste your time and never distribute any thing to you. And this is annoying.

In my experience here, I prefer to do a bounty without :

KYC. If KYC is stated, I mostly will not sign up if it is not a trusted BM. What's the point for KYC and get shit pay ($3 for 7weeks bounty for example  Shocked) or no pay and information/data goes public.

Also, why will a project not finish up with their SWAP issue before flagging out a bounty ? The SWAP should be their issue and not mine.

I don't think is worth it in signing up to bounty with headache because no guarantee to get payment since is not a btc campaign.
However, I have found a thread that I follow to sign up for bounty if I'm interested. If the bounty is not added up on the thread, I won't border signing up or being serious. Most of the bounties here are keeping up to bidding at least for now, no need to waste time. https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/safe-campaigns-in-the-altcoin-section-to-join-dont-waste-your-time-with-others-5228629

You can add to the list : Knowing when listing in exchange
Whether fake/scam exchange to avoid transferring your shit coin over there  Grin
