ICO investment is still very prominent in the present time because of the tendency of large projects to be widely supported and the ICO is the quickest and safest solution. I think the ICO is sure to always be in the future because it is the industrial revolution

Agreed with everything said and done in this thread.
ICO are trash and just for grabbing everybodies money and run once the ICO sale is over.
They got their money so why stick around to deal with the fall out when they essentially didn't have a product worth releasing in the first place or at all for that matter. Roll Eyes

Stick with what we all know in and believe...
And that is the alt coin projects.

Atleast you have and control those assets and not invest into something that will have a better chance of getting to you in two months time than getting hit by a meteorite.

I hate god damn ICOs and I think they have always been a horrible product to invest in. You might have made some money but the vast majority of companies are going to show nothing of value and blow through all their money while paying themselves high salaries.

Though there are some ICOs that are legit and quite promising, still you can't hold on to it for a long time. Due to the number of ICOS that are just scams, people are beginning to have less trust on them. Maybe its better that if you wantto invest on ICOs, justhold on to them for a short time.

It absolutely depends on the proposition and it is very short sighted to think that there won't be profitable and profit making ICOs. Look at innovations like AICOIN (aicoin.io) an investment collective that takes 100% of the money collected and immediately starts trading with very profitable AI models. The value of that token will be driven by the assets collected plus profit plus also the plan to invest in start-up companies with the trading profit.

Escrow is a must have to invest in an ICO at these days. Everything else doesn't make any sense.

Nah, I dont trust ico if it have an escrow. As this escrow will just later on run our money and the worst the ico will be also a scam. Instead find an ico without escrow and be vigilant in picking one. Read their white paper as well as the road map as it can really help in choosing one.
I think this is unfair to escrows, there are escrows in the forum that have escrowed millions of dollars and they have not stole a single cent, so having a reputable escrow does bring protection to investors, personally I think the whole ICO thing is getting out of control and that is why now are voices trying to regulate the market with all the usual KYC that we hate.

What do you mean still? The majority of ico's have not been profitable. Look at sonm. The price had fallen to just 20% of the ico price before most participants received there sonm. You look and see the price went high the first day at an exchange. This is when the insiders knew ahead of time what exchange was listing when. Not many ico participants are making profits. A FEW LUCKY ONES BUT CHANCES ARE SLIM AT BEST.

Initial coin offering is favourite game for and I always like to be first one to buy any coin that is going to be new in the market. ICO offers best prices for token purchase and are profitable once they finish the token sell. ICO is still promising due to its quality projects and offerings of smart contracts.
If you are going to invest in an ICO it is much better if you going to try to be a part of the whole project where you are going to promote the project for it to succeed. And in order to that you can apply on a signature campaign in altcoin and choose a project your choice and have time to fully promote and invest time to it. And of course all you need to do is be updated for the development and progress of the project.

It all depends on the type of ICO's
is there is more hype and medium risk. its better to sell off at exchange and if there is more hype and less risk.. its better to hold

I really think the meta changed a little bit. ICOs are coming in batches nowadays. Only the investors with keen vision are able to make profit out of ICOs.

There are ICOs that are worth investing. The crucial point is the team and that is the place where one should be looking at, if the dev teams have a good track record.
The developers are critical when it comes to the success of a coin but at the same time the developers are not important if the project is not going to work at the end, the code does not matter if the idea and the coin itself is not going to work because it does not solve anything or because it does not have a market that can grow, so it is important to read the whitepaper and see if the coin has a future, then you can focus in the execution.
It may be risky but it's worth it. If we didn't give it a try then how can we be successful, ICOs now maybe too many to know which is real or an scam but we all need to research it and know it's capabilities before trusting it.
No one can deny that investing in icos is risky but it seems the time of unregulated icos may come to an end soon, the SEC is now going to try to regulate the market and with it new roadblocks will be lifted for those that want to invest in those coins and projects and for the developers since they will now have to abide to new regulations, not everything is bad but it will slow the market down.

I am a person that gains profit from investing in ICOs but now I'm having second thoughts. I know some ICOs are potential scam so I am really picky to where I put my money.

Anyway, considering with what happened to Ethereum price and with the nearing Augist 1, do you guys think that it will still be profitable to invest on ICOs mostly on ERC20 tokens and those accepting btc payments?

As there are lots of "promising" ICO's around, even they are all legit and trustworthy, you will end up empty because you can't diversify all your funds in lots of ICO's around.  To cover that hole, you must consider joining a bounty campaigns on regular basis to somehow take advantage too if ever everything will goes good.

About your last question, I can't tell you exactly what to do or what will be my thoughts. I know you are here in crypto world for a long time now and I believe you can make your own decision about that concern of yours just by reading some of the expected things to happen after 1st of August.

Yes. It's still worth your time despite of these scamming issues. Personally, the idea of having ICO fascinates me. These ICO start-ups are introducing the people to an interesting world of cryptocurrency. The founders are making you use virtual money instead of cash or credit cards.

A lot won't believe it because they can't understand how it's done. Crypto transactions to these people is a joke; therefore, when you're in ICO, your number 1 priority is to educate your audience about your business and how it will use cryptocurrency to make the business grow.

If you are an US citizen, ICO may not be promising anymore. However, I bet that we will see more mineable coins with pre-mines. We will see how the SEC regulates the ICOs. Who knows, maybe only legit ICOs will be the future since SEC is watching them.

So many ICOs are scams these days but Ethereum was an ICO that underwent massive success. It only might be worth it if you know what you're doing.

Still very profitable but must be good at selecting projects that potentially generate many benefits. To follow ICO you have to choose a project that has Escrow so that our money can be guaranteed safe. But there are things that make me uncomfortable when follow ICO is my money stuck for too long like yesterday ICO exscudo.
