Blockchain!!!
Development / Test update:

Hey all,

We have been bugged down with a nagging UI bug that was making the wallet lag when executing transactions. After conducting many hours of trial and error, today we had much success and our latest test have been more promising.

We are now going over the bug list that was submitted by the testers.
Our user interface at the time of it’s inception was written in electron/mithril (JS). Our java dev coded the wallet in a way were he thought that the daemon would be less demanding at making constant calls to the user interface.

DIONS has allot going on in terms of transaction handling in staking rewards, fees, registration etc this making the user interface almost unresponsive at times causing all kinds of strange bugs that are not related to DIONS source, but user interface behavior.

We have found a workaround and have limited calls to the user interface and this has improved the lag issue. Today we were able to create aliases and decrypt them with virtually no lag so is very promising. Once we get this under control it will solve many issues we had the last weeks moving forward in terms of the user interface stabilization.

We have been quite but again working long hours minimizing distractions at this crucial time.

More info about the possibilities of DIONS: www.iodigital.io/dions

Thanks.

I've downloaded the html5 wallet from IOC website.

But i cannot get it to sync?

Help someone

Hi,

Please make sure your firewall or anti virus program does not block any connections.
You can also try to replace the peers.dat with the following one: http://www.iodigital.io/wp-content/uploads/2016/06/peers.zip

You need to manually download it using the provided link, unzip it and place the peers.dat in the ~/Library/Application Support/iocoin (for OSX) folder and then run the wallet. The peers.dat also works for Windows wallets.
Windows users have to copy the peers.dat file into the c\users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\IOCoin folder and run the Win client again.

99% of the time it is your firewall / router or anti virus software preventing the sync.

Second option to kickstart your wallet is to use our bootstrap.
An (official) bootstrap.dat is available to fast track the blockchain sync – up to block 1m (jan 2017). You need to manually download it, unzip it and place the bootstrap.dat in the ~/Library/Application Support/iocoin (for OSX) folder and then run the wallet. The bootstrap.dat also works for Windows wallets.
Windows users have to copy the bootstrap.dat file into the c\users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\IOCoin folder and run the Win client again.

Loading the bootstrap could take up to 24-48 hours but is a much faster way in syncing the wallet for the first time.

The wallet seems to be “stuck”at the opening screen, but basically it is loading the bootstrap.
This is normal. This can take 24-48 hours. So don’t close the wallet!!

The bootstrap can be downloaded here: https://github.com/IOCoin/iocoin/releases/tag/BootStrap.1M.Block

Hope & Positivity are keys to Success
Hi Maurice,
Great questions that i like to answer in here.

Please see my answers below:

Think of some interesting questions to send the team.

Startups are releasing current web services; DNS, storage, as blockchain technologies. Blockstack, STORJ, Lisk for example have made their APIs accessible to third party developers by releasing packages on NPM accompanied with a well documented API and developer tutorials.  STORJ has the potential to replace an Amazon S3 bucket, there's a well documented API and video tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OPny2_ehLPU&list=PLEr5Xx0gHvFG55T-_kLKlWosSBw32vP9N by Barbara Liau deploying the STORJ API through widely used Nodejs applications like Express.

I understand I/O Coin has DNS on the blockchain, where A, CNAME and MX records can be created for domain names. Is this technology available for third parties and is there deployment documentation available?
--> yes this is available when we release DIONS. First through HTML5 wallet, after that through documented API.

Will I/O Coin offer storage that can be accessed through a JavaScript API?
--> yes this is available when we release DIONS. First through HTML5 wallet. Documents can be stored connected to your private key, after that through documented API. Fees needed to store data will be redistributed to the stakers.

Are there plans to improve access to I/O Coin technologies for third party developers through well documented JavaScript APIs?
--> yes. the biggest usage / entry point in the future will be third party apps that want to use Blockchain for their service. We will make it possible that apps can easily connect to our Blockchain

In the future, is  I/O Coin going to offer a blockchain database solution?
--> basically when we release DIONS it is a Blockchain database solution. Data, messaging, alias etc. All AES256 encrypted!

Look forward to your response, Maurice

Clear to see $IOC is Solid long term, DIONS will be a BIG success and the stepping stone to even greater developments.

IOC was one of rare coins not to lose value in terms of BTC during the last pump of Bitcoin. As I understand from the updates more interesting features to be introduced in the future. I have acquired some to hold  Smiley

Solid project with a bright future.  Never know with coins, but pretty close to a sure bet on this one.

The line of thought above, along with the practical ins and outs of using the blockchain, are the questions I have.  Want to see it demonstrated, then I can ask more pointed questions.

"Hey all,
we would like to schedule a community online meetup for Q and A. This will be broadcasted live on YouTube. We think there is interest and this is a good timing for that because we have a lot of new people on board.
Please send your questions to me in here so we can prepare.
Will see how many questions we get and when we will schedule the meetup.
Thanks.

thank you mr whitebites for your charitable work on behalf of I/O Digital.

Someone in slack asked what made IOC different from other projects....and while I did mention community support for the I/O digital ecosystem, I didn't mention the good works done by the team and its community members. i can remember joel helping displaced women with a monetary donation, community membres planting trees and your effort to help rid a continent of land mines.

Its really special to be able to invest in a project that has the potential to increase one wealth so substantially and also make you feel really good as a person.

that said....thanks for the link....im thinking of sponsoring a rat. would it make me a bad person if i named it roger ver?

a rat wich like ramped and spit her venom doesn"t be named rat but snake.

I think that for questions, some of us really need to see this working.  I have some, but when you all get the demonstration out to the public, you will likely answer most of them.  Just waiting to see this in action and really wanting to see if I can use DIONS for some things I have in mind.

Thanks again for the hard work.

Blockchain!!!
update on testing DIONS and some other updates

Last week we continued the testing of DIONS with the help of our community members.
We tested transactions, registering DIONS alias and did a first messaging test.

The tests that we have conducted have produced some bugs in the User Interface. We have also had some issues with our testnet lab, those get adjusted. Unlike QT - JavaScript User Interface behaves differently in different systems. We are currently trying to find a way to make the HTML5 wallet have a better refresh rate.

Meaning sometimes when you click to decrypt an alias, the alias gets decrypted in the daemon but the wallet doesn't show it right away or sometimes gets stuck not updating. Thats the area we are working on right now.

We also had a bad SSD for a while in the lab and that threw our test out the door because things were acting very unresponsive. We were then told by our provider we had a bad SSD (storage device), which was replaced a few days ago.

So at this point our focus is on making the HTML5 User Interface (=Front end) Wallet more responsive and restart testing with our testers. As of Friday the bugs were all concentrated with UI and not in the DIONS source code. We have done extensive code testing without the UI and DIONS code has proven stable and working. So we are at debugging HTML5 User Interface issues.

Release date?
no release date yet. When we have implemented a solution for the HTML5 refresh rate and done some more testing we will have a more clear idea on the last testing stages.

Marketing / exposure
We will do the Blocktalk show when we have it all stable. Due to the testnet issues we had we had to postpone the blocktalk show because we will show a working DIONS HTML5 wallet in the show. That must run flawless ;-)
Next to that we will also feature with an interview at World Crypto Network (worldcryptonetwork.com)
We will also do a Q&A in a closed altcoinpro investor platform (bullbearanalytics.com) soon.
A new website for I/O Coin is also in the making and scheduled to launch when we launch DIONS.
When the HTML5 wallet is stable enough, we will make a video explaining all features and show how it works.

Airbitz
For extra security we are also in contact with Airbitz and looking to integrate Airbitz.
They provide an SDK and mobile app that does client-side auto encryption, auto backup, device-to-device synchronization, and 2 factor authentication for blockchain private keys, with an easy single-sign-on experience for the end user. If it is possible to integrate, it will not be integrated in the upcoming DIONS release because we want to keep focus on DIONS.

Messaging on Blockchain
DIONS is a great project with a lot of features and the messaging part is something to keep an eye on. In the current market we see a lot of interest in using our decentralized encrypted messaging solution. One community member is already creating a proof of concept for a new service and is looking to use our technology. We know others are working on an App as well and as soon as the technology becomes available they will start connecting to this unique feature.
All fees needed to use the messaging system are redistributed to the stakers in the network!

New advisory board member
As said a week ago we are in talks with another senior leader to join our Advisory board.
Details are still discussed but looking good. No ETA.

Donation received
We got a generous anonymous donation to the foundation (0.77 btc).
As many of you know we had no ICO or crowdfund and are paying all expenses since 2014 ourselves.
A donation is very welcome to use for marketing, development and server expenses. A sincere thank you to the person who donated.
Are you interested in donating as well? You can send us a donation to Paypal on [email protected]
You can also check the http://www.iodigital.io/donate-to-the-foundation/ page for more info and donation addresses for BTC and IOC
5% of every donation will be set aside for charity purposes!!

A big thank you to all involved community members!

We are excited to have you all around and DIONS will be worth the wait!
