Coinmarketcap is still the best for me. Indeed, there are many prices and volumes of coins that sometimes do not match the price of an exchanger. However, it is still within reasonable limits that can be tolerated.

They are not an exchange they only list coins to track the price, volume, and information about the site, they have nothing to do with volumes, projects and whatever happens to the project ~snip~

I agree with you, mate. We cannot blame CMC since it doesn't have responsibility to the projects or coin's reputation. As far as I understand, CMC just lists coins based on volumes, current prices, exchanges, and common information related to the coins. To know the more or detail information, we should make own research.

Many people I know never take CMC so seriously, they believe CMC is just giving a glance of price range some altcoins within.
If they really want to know how much a coin really worth also checking the existence of the liquidation they'd instead go to the exchanges that list the altcoin directly not CMC. However, the existence of CMC itself quite helpful despite having doubtful credibility due to lack of authenticity.

I’m starting to worry about coinmarketcap lately, after series of deceit and spammish activity
The following are my observed reasons

1. Many dead projects still on cmc

2. Market cap is fake Cox many projects which have seized to trade adds up to the market cap

3. Cmc doesn't verify authenticity of projects before listing it

4. CMC now have ads of fake icos on their website thereby leading people to scammers

Funny enough so many NOOBS believe anything and everything dey see on cmc to be authentic

Let me stop here and anyone against it should bring a proof to counter it
Or offer more options

cmc just listing most of cryptocurrencies my friend,
and cmc admin run an ads to make money from their website my friend
its still safe for me,, people should do their own research before investing to reduce the risk, and do not blame cmc for their own fault

Don't quite understand why you are thinking about coinmarketcap like something very trustworthy and like some resource where only filtered projects appear.
It's just a monitoring where you can find and track coins that are popular enough to be noticed.

That was a time that CMC reduced the criteria to be fulfilled by every project that intends to list on it. At that point, I knew the team have started reducing the standard, which means they are looking for more profits. I am not surprised, they have so much to cater for and perhaps that is the only way they can do it.

Okay you are right in coinmarketcapcap there are many fake project which is a scam or a failed project or maybe has no volume or delisted from everywhere. And there is also have the whole exchange which is fake. For authentication they don't verify the thing that much hard. And it's hard to verify. At first they were a  non-profit foundation at first it's hard to handle all of it. And the 2nd problem is every thing happen through API. They connected to the API athats all. It's hard to check one by one all the day. But if you report and many people report on a project or a exchange they have a look on it. But at this moment cmc is the best place there is nothing negotiable.

Basically CMC looks lack of the deveopment and the developer only care to put the coin. Just curious does a project need to pay someamount to be listed on CMC? This to make it clear what was happening with CMC.

As far i know the project no needs to pay anything to be listed there but it must be already listed on two exchanges, otherwise their request will be declined. You can try to open the submission form on cmc and read what exactly do you need to do.

Coinmarketcap have several criterias for listening and many projects and coins meet these criterias so I think this is normal to find out dead coins.

I think it is not safe to trust CMC anymore. A lot of exchange has fake volume and most of the volume are traded by bots. That is why doing your own research and stop depending your decision based on the market cap.

I think CMC from the crypto site is safe and displays data about crypto in detail, related to the problem of coins dying or no progress. I don't think it's a problem, it will gradually disappear by itself from the CMC list, as far as I see, when a coin that doesn't have a user will disappear.

They are listing only the coins value and their volume it is not an exchange to think about the safety of CMC. They never bother either it pump or dump their main job is to update the current value of a coin.

CMC is a business trying to make money wherever and however it can.  I'm sure decisions made there at this point are economic based (ie., more profit) as the code is likely pretty well polished.

The more information listed on there, the more important it appears to newbies.  For newbies, CMC is acting like a lighthouse for people coming out of the dense fog.  For them it is a warm and welcoming place to go where it's everything crypto.  I imagine for each new person that starts investigating cryptocurrencies, CMC likely receives anywhere from 10 to 1000 clicks per user before they get more advanced and start seeking out more accurate information on sites other than CMC.

And like all businesses scrambling to stay ahead in a fast moving space like crypto, CMC is guilty is bending and breaking the rules in order to bring in that one more set of eyeballs.  Morally, it is CMC's job to police itself so as not to spread information about scam ICOs, but business-wise it is not their responsibility - the advertising revenue scam ICO's offer them to place ads is likely enormous and cannot be denied by the site operators/owners.

Unless you are a newbie, most folks should be going there only for a quick snapshot of the prices for the top 10 cryptos.  Start checking out anything else there, and you'll likely find yourself distracted by all the bells and whistles and walk away afterward with your head spinning.

Well you think coinmarketcap is not safe, it's not an investment site, ok they advertise site but all the other cryp[tocurrency related sites also accept advertising, coinmarketcap is an old site and helped in the advancement of cryptocurrency, don't blame them for losing an investment just because they advertise potentially scam ICO, do your own research,.

We can consider Coinmarketcap is not trustworthy since the start, but do you think there's a better website than Coinmarketcap?
Noobs people are always noobs if they don't do research first before an engaging project, Coinmarketcap is where you gather market price information not for searching a good project where you invest. As of now, there's no legit site which is having ads on ICO.

Good point. They just make-up the site. Who pays more and orders advertising. I do not think that they are testing commercials. Since this would reduce revenues. This advertisement can not be trusted.

On the other hand, how can they check the project?

The site and the services it provides to the public are very interesting and useful for monitoring. No need to pay attention to advertising if you do not like it or you can download the browser Brave and visit the site without advertising and spam.

It's the most popular crypto market cap list so those concerns are being taken advantage of CMC itself for monetary purposes. Gone are days that they aren't advertising any scam. As the site grows in traffic, they are getting the favor as a normal website that profits from ads whether a scam or not.

The site itself is very manipulative and remember that moment when a glitch happened. It really affected the whole market, I think they have threshold and time requirement to unlist those dead projects.

You can address your concern directly to them: https://blog.coinmarketcap.com/contact/
