What is scam?
"A scam or confidence trick is an attempt to defraud a person or group by gaining their confidence."

By the definition we can clearly say whether it's scam or not! Electroneum is giving us ETN in exchange of btc/eth and they also have promised mobile miner which would probably be released on November 1st. If it happens and everything went well as they promised then there is no fraud. If it failed then we can consider it as a scam.

I've just recently started to read about digital coins, and apparently, I have no idea how it works exactly.
But from my short life existence, I do tend to trust things and people based on the appearance. And I have to tell you this. The white paper seems a bit too nice, and the photos of the team are just something I cannot really believe. It seems to me like they've all been to a photo shoot or something... And their job is to implement a new coin, not to have pretty pictures. Maybe it's just me.
But I've learnt that people make decisions based on their so-called intuition, which sometimes has no explication nor is it tied to real facts.
I hope my feedback helps, no matter if you are real or scammers. No matter what, you have to do your job right! People can feel that.

Where is the marketing? I doxed the dev team, which wasn't too hard when they post all their LinkedIn. They are big players in the internet marketing industry in England. They can do it for free!?! I even looked up the coins head guy Richard Ells and called his headquarters. I asked the secretary about Electroneum? I was transfered to a guy that asked me how he could help me with my questions. So I asked, "why aren't you marketing this ICO?". He said, "they are and more is coming." Do you see any marketing? WTF.

The ICO starts in 3 days!!

EDIT

No, it is definately not a scam.

They have raised 3 million already.

I was worried about the marketing, but now I see their ads everwhere I go on the internet, so the guy wasnt kidding when he said the marketing is coming!!

Damn!!! Ive never seen a coin hit mainstream news sites!!!

I can say its up to your understanding on how it would work or how it would benefit you. We often say its a scam but when you understand everything on it you can tell wether its scam or not.

Electroneum has done far more than being successful, it has brought hundreds of people into crypto world. I have seen a sudden surge in the members of the community.

My opinion may be seen as biased as I am sporting their signature, but I doubt this is a scam. Why would someone with a an established company ruin risking their reputation by running a scam ICO? That would be the end of his career and everyone on the team.

I only joined their bounty campaign because I was planning on investing in it as it was a solid product. It does have a strong team, a concrete idea with realistic goals and token applicability. As much as I would love to see 100x increases, I don't think it is realistic. Only time will tell if it indeed reaches the mass audience they are aiming for.
But I am more impressed now that I know they actually have a phone number and a person that could answer questions, and see their ads everywhere online (yes, they are targeted ads, but they are still investing in them).

I do appreciate OP doing the work to contact the team, and then editing his first post after finding more info (wish more people would do that).

Electroneum seems like a legit ICO. If anyone has any doubts, do your own research. If by the end you're still unsure, either invest a little bit or ignore it completely.
I've just made a small investment, a sum that would not bother me even if it turns out to be a scam.

I understand your concern about the whether a certain ico is legit. There really is no way to find out until we've seen results. I hope that you've invested in this project because it really is a good one that's also one of the reason I am advertising them aside from the extra btc I'll be earning. It's good if you believe with something that you are advertising.

they are legit and i saw a lot of advertisements from them in many sites here in the internet, they might be one of the strongest and successful ICO of oct.
i read thei roadmap and the entire whitepaper and it is very promising,, im thinking of investing on them  because they have good objective and the quality of their team is good as well.

I do not think electroneum is a scam project, as there were too many similar projects like this, lots of negative issues circulated, but eventually after the project was a success, it proved that the project was not a scam project, I think it's best to analyze the elecroneum first

its probably a scam
You have your opinion on it of course. We will need to see what happens after the coin gets launched. The coin won't last three years, it may do well within this year and maybe the year after that.

The coin will not only last waaaaay past 3 years, but that would be about the time it would need to secure a spot in the top 3.

In 3 years
Bitcoin
Ethereum
Electroneum

It will easily beat Bitcoin Cash, as it is not Bitcoin or Cash lmao

If ripple gets lucky and replaces SWIFT in the Banking industry, then ETN my be at 4.

But gone, I must say you are INSANE!!!

Electroneum will never get that big simply because of the market cap of a huge 21 billion supply. The most it could reach is a 21 billion market cap at $1/etn. That's assuming it gets mass adoption. Let's be a little more realistic...

You really should read the white paper completely before making assumptions. The 21B market cap can be increased after 3 years if needed for mining. The devs aren't some seedy guys sitting in a basement, they are established, known, and successful already. This coin will surprise all of the critics... it's averaging 350k per day this week, it was 150k last week, exponential growth is a good sign... think Moore's law.

Been talking to some of the team, seem very dedicated and have a clear plan.

People look at the white paper and miss the key element of why ETN has potential. The mining app is nothing more than a publicity and distribution method. One which opens up access to a currency that currently only a tiny % of people see. Once people start collecting it, companies will start integrating it, once that happens it snow balls and becomes self perpetuating.

Its also REALLY interesting to me that I've been contacted by 2 non-crypto friends who mentioned Electroneum. I've never had this on a currency before, let alone one this early on.

Definitely one to watch and not a scam.

Lets say people actually collect it, how many years would it take before the average collector could use it for anything?  It's not like companies adopting this would be a quick process.  Today's society is conditioned to jump from one thing to the next.  At best it will be a fad and people will forget about it in a few months.  And I don't know people keep acting like that will happen anyways.  That's not even the focus of the devs.  They are focusing the gaming industry, not any true widespread adoption by the general public.

And I'll say you're full of shit when it comes to friends asking you about it unless you're from the UK where the buzz might be greater.  Even my crypto knowledgeable friends no nothing about it.  It's just trying to make it seem like it's something bigger than it really is.

Two things I really like about this: one, you took your due diligence so far as to actually call up a team member at his office; two, that you edited your post to reflect new information rather than just shrugging and not worrying about any impact it might have.

Do the math...
They say mine 30usd of coins a month, so if a million people download the app, 30million usd of tokens will be mined a month? 360 million usd a year by a million users???

Where's this 360million usd coming from???

Where did you get 30 usd from?  The dev said at best it'll be $3-5 a month which means in reality it'll be $0.50-$1 a month for most users.

It amazes me how well perceived Electroneum has been. Maybe it's because of the fact that a big celebrity supported the project, same thing happened with Centra though.

There's a few companies working on "banking the bankless" so there's nothing revolutionary there.

However: MINING ON YOUR PHONE IS A PRETTY BIG EVOLUTION.

I think it's got potential on that factor alone.

Nobody's been able to crack that yet.

nobody has been able to crack it because it's not possible.  electroneum didn't crack it.  its fake mining just sending coins to your phone for having the app installed.  ITS NOT REAL  therefore that 'potential' is also not real

It does not look like a scam, given the fact that there' so many positive replies about it. But you never know what people are up to.

lots of positive posts by people who get paid to post positive things about it?  wow who would have guessed.
