Considering having the advantage as a first starter and well establised developers ecosystem, ethereum will have an important role in the future's world. It will become widely used platform for many real case uses (tokenization of real assets, contracts settlements etc) in near future so i would say it's worth to have some of ethereum in your portfolios for long game.
Technologies will evolve. Advanced versions are and will be launched. Ethereum provides a lot of control and helps to build contracts. However, it is still not bulletproof. The community is working on Ethereum technology advancement to POS. I believe it is good for long term. However, holding for long-term totally depends on your risk appetite and things are ever changing

5-10 years is a very long time and certainly you will be profitable but instead of keeping ETH then you should use 30% of assets to invest in ICO projects then the profit will increase higher. I would agree with the argument that the ETH developers are very competent (unlike those of Bitcoin). Recently they had a fork and it reduced the transaction fee for using the Ethereum platform.
It is good for long term just secure your wallet because etherem is only 3 years old compre to bitcoin ..Bitcoin is older than ethereum.Ethreum populrity is growing because of airdrop and bounties like this many of token use ERC20 to send and recieve token because it uses smart contract auto send and recieve.

if your question like that it can be ascertained 70% + + we can trust the project. for price issues I can not guarantee that ETH will survive high because it depends on holder with investors
