If the ico is good and clear, I think investment in ico can be made a good choice, the team involved in an ico is also important because one of the determinants in the success of an ico is a professional and solid team, if you are going to invest in ico you can analyze whether or not the ico is good

Investing in ICOs is a good option if you have enough knowledge to track which gonna hit and which is not, then yes, ICO projects are not harmful to you! Rather this will be a very good option to be successful in crypto platform! Otherwise try to avoid investing in ICOs, do invest in stable coins and do a trade or hodl them!
Not many people have experience in investing in ICO, In 2018 people invest in ICO not selectively and the result is hundreds of ICO scam. Now not many people really invest in ICO, only big companies are possible

Everything would be depend on the future chance and the quality of the ICO itself, also based on everyone behind the ICO and many other parameters that sometimes un imaginable. For Investors should be able to filter all those possibilities to choose any good ICO to invest on.

I think it depends on ICO. if the project held by the team is very good for me, also a good way to buy tokens at ICO is still running, so the price I get from ICO is still cheap.

ICO is still a good investment choice, as long as studying the ICO in depth through their whitepaper and seeing the track record of the people behind the project and qualified advisors who already have experience managing ICO projects.

These days everyone is trying to have their own ICO which is making entire industry shady. People are easily falling for scams. Keep an eye on the reputation section to see the fake ICOs.

I am not saying that all ICOs are fake but there are good ICOs as well. To determine a good ICO I look for
=Good team
=The product
=Token usability
=Marketing

If these are good enough then it's ok to take some risk. Don't go all but invest that you can afford to lose.

is it a good idea to invest in ICO's and what do you think is a good deciding factor to pick what ICO's to invest in?

It is a good choice for 2016 2017, when the new coin market is formed. But in the last 2018, it was tragic with ICO, only nearly 4% of successful ICO. The remaining is almost investors losing money on dead or deceptive projects. ICO investment is very good, but it must be investigated carefully.

the main point of investing in ico is to get the token or coin in cheap price rather than buying directly from exchange but from last year we have seen that as soon token/coin hit the market ,price of the respective coin goes down due to manipulation(not happen with every coin,it is just a trend),so you can directly buy from exchange but still if your are not good at trading and just a investor than ico is good choice .

The point of the creator of the thread is that compared to other investment ventures would ICO investment better. Let's all admit that 2018 was not a good year to invest in most ventures here in cryptocurrency including ICOs. But for 2019, other ventures will still be better than ICO investment, however it is expected to be better this year.

There are now different forms of projects that are now being lunched, such as STO, IPO IEO and so on, alongside ICO, but i have always been used to ICO, expect that if i want to invest in ICO, i will have to do a lot of research, to be sure that i am in for the right project.

all factors can influence, most importantly in my opinion they are consistent and have responsibility for what they plan on the project. Besides that, there are now many projects that only prioritize the initial concept

Investment can be anywhere, you can invest directly in altcoins and can also invest in ICO. Indeed, people are free to choose where to invest. As long as investment somewhere will make a profit. And investing in ICO is certainly a good choice, of course. And at ICO there must also be a bonus. This is one of the advantages of investing in ICO.

It can be, but you need to do your homework.

Look into the :-

- Team - Do they have a strong team, what are the weaknesses? Do they have not just developers, but also good marketing, sales a good CEO and leader?

- Whitepaper - What are they trying to achieve? Is it valuable or are they simply raising for an ICO?

- Community - Is it strong? What are people saying about it? A good project will look after their community as it can be their greatest marketing tool.

I would also advise that you take part in bounties and airdrops before investing. Once you feel confident, then think about investing. Remember an ICO usually lasts at least 30 days, so no rush!

Also I use Crowdholding, they are a platform where you can earn crypto for giving feedback to startups. They have over 80 startups and it's a great place to get started, give feedback and get involved in a project.

Hope this helps!

It's a good option provided you know what kind of project you are going to invest in and knows all the risk involve investing in ICO, with the current bear market, there is a big risk involved here, but the cryptocurrency is evolving and we have a lot of new platform coming in for the community and they do it via ICO.

I used to invest at the time of ICO and I want to say that only 1 out of three profits gives profit. No matter how well you choose.
Now I took a pause in investing during the ICO.

ICOs are like securities but it goes from the first step. We invest in any project and receive a token as a kind of dividend with a certain value. You can sell it after it is listed on the exchanges, but this is quite a problem when many investors sell all they hold, making the project's liquidity low and this killing die that project.

First of all, it depends on the project as well as the product and also the team behind the project. Sometime in 2017, investing in good ICOs made people very rich. But 2018 brought a whole lot of sad tales with the downward movement of the market. ICOs became a death trap and people lost massive amounts. Now, you have to very careful about investing in any ico, you must make your due deligence and hope that it turns out well. Always think about the risks associated with any investment and learn to invest within your limit.
