No, ICOs are not profitable now because big exchanges don't list new projects without working product. Most ICOs have no working products or MVP so investors are waiting many months for the listing to return their investments. Small exchanges listing after ICO means the dump of the price because nobody want to buy new tokens there.

I also think similar to you, if you are a smart and fast person, they can take time to find a potential ICO. Since there are now too many ICOs, in which ICOs scam a lot, it would take more time to filter.

if you can choose the correct ico then you will get a profit especially with the falling market conditions which of course the price of ico coins becomes cheaper without losing its potential, what I mean is even though the price is cheaper but the opportunity to reach the highest price is still there, so we can get more coins then when the market recovers then the coin has a great chance to reach its best potential or reach its highest price and this is very profitable for investors

I myselft usually stay away from investing in the icos, because most of the icos in 2018 are scams so i prefer waiting for them to get listed in exchanges. Yes i am missing bonuses or buying sometimes expensively but this is more secure.
I think some are profitable while some of the projects are nothing good to write about. Although every investor have their own target of investing on any project. Some projects which are long term investors.
