I dont think Jake should take the risk he loses and falters before the fight with Tyson.   The promoters couldnt get their deposit back for the venue so arranged this but it might also mean he loses the kudos to fight Tyson even as a show fight.

If its all scripted I guess there is less risk and its just a money making machine, who would turn that down.

Despite all the money involved, I think it's a terrible idea for Jake Paul to have a fight before the fight with Mike Tyson... It would be much better for the public to have to wait until then, after all, the curiosity factor would weigh heavily in favor of this fight, like: how think Jake Paul is fighting? Will he do well? How much has he prepared?... fighting someone beforehand would take away the surprise factor.

Not sure if this is going to be official, Jake Paul Reportedly Has New Opponent to Replace Mike Tyson.

Quote
According to multiple reports and MMA legend and insider, BJ Penn, Paul will face off against former UFC and current Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship star, Mike Perry. So far, an official announcement has not been made but Paul and his Most Valuable Promotions company will reportedly announce the fight on Wednesday.

But what from I understand, they are going to fight on the original date of July 20. So maybe after this fight and if Paul's win it, they will still go ahead and fight Mike Tyson in November because that's what fans wanted to see.

This is sort of get busy fight for Paul and hopefully there will be no upset.

Mike Perry is a bit undersized to be fighting against a cruiserweight/small heavyweight, although considering how Jake Paul cherry picks opponents he has an advantage over, it would make sense that this could be his next opponent. I’m not sure it will actually happen though, because this news was published on Tuesday, which means Wednesday has already come and gone and nothing was announced.

Another careful match making on his part, yeah, Mike Perry might be a champion, but Jake is too big as he has been training close to Heavyweight division because his original fight is going to be against Mike Tyson.

So I'm also not sure if this is going to push through, also I will agree that he might be boring and wanted to test himself after weeks of training already. And most likely, the money could be good as well that Mike Perry is willing to accept this fight in heartbeat.

And so this is the reaction of Mike Tyson with regards to the rescheduling of the fight,

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/cso3XF1BIWU

“I’m KNOCKOUT JP, same faith different date”. Lol, but yeah, it is still promotion so why now. And it will create another hype with this kind of videos from Mike Tyson. But still though, you can see his age in this video and that's why he is the underdog in this fight. But as we have been discussing on how much money Mike Tyson is going to make here, we don't think that he will just back down and will continue to have that same energy leading to the fight.

For the money he will earn, even I, an ordinary person, would be willing to fight Paul, and without even training much. Regardless of Myke's condition, he entered this already knowing, and I believe he would have already received other offers and didn't go because it was little money.

^ I agree that the hype is dying down. I was coming here to post that with all the new rumored opponents and seemingly up in the air as to what exactly is happening this close to a major event is pretty bad news for Netflix getting into the fight game. I understand they couldn’t just call off the event due to the amount of money behind it, but this was supposed to be a big moment for Netflix with live sports and now it will only be a letdown.

But they can still make it though, yeah the date is too far but once we get to the fight week, there could be more hype again as this could be one of the most anticipated boxing match that the fans are waiting, specially for those who wanted to see Mike Tyson again in the ring.

We can only say that there is no hype once the numbers are in, like PPV or how many did actually watch it in Netflix, specially their subscribers. And it's good that we have a new date as we are going to anticipate that more videos and promotions are going to come out.

I do agree, that's why Tyson released that video because it seems that the hype is going down. Just imagine if they've push with the original date and you can see them promoting the fight with that scary Mike Tyson video.

But now it's different, specially for those who have bought the tickets before and had mark their calendars to watch the fight live. But then again, it was rescheduled to a new date and you were disappointed and for sure there are fans that might not make it to the new date because of that and then just totally refunded the tickets.

Maybe it's just an experiment... and if it works out she can start investing more in this sports entertainment business... I think it all depends on the audience and the financial return that Netflix and sponsors can have... well, the dynamics and plans changed with the postponement of the fight, we just have to wait and see... but it would be great if Netflix had good results, that's good for us (viewers)

I don't think people see Jake Paul as a villain who beats the elderly... they are just making money... after influencers and legends from the past of the sport form partnerships, it's like the infinite money cheat... these are things that people They want to watch and they will pay a lot for it.... I believe that even when Mike is sick, he will enter the ring, maybe just to pretend to fight... people want to see him...
funny enough the entire stereotype about this match is just the young jake paul still at his prime beating elderly that were legend, its the entire narrative and it sells.
just know that people probably don't care about how good both fighter perform but more interested to see because the heated discussion whether its moral or not for a young fighter in his prime fighting legend that already past 50 year old age.

althoguh yes it is true that sole purpose is just garnering attention and taking advantage of mike tyson popularity to get money by presenting this entertainment.

we all know that this is pure entertainment and according to em paul did it on purpose because he knows that challenging a former fighter like mike would bring popularity to his name, it is clear that he knows very well that people will accuse him of beating up an elderly man but you always have to see what old man he is and we are talking about a legend like Iron Mike who in my opinion by asking for shorter matches to really have the chance to knock him out with his deadly punch so it's not even a given that he will be able to win..

It's for the pure hype of it and obviously, we all know that this is money fight, anyone involved will make a lot of money in our expense, or at least those fans who are willing to pay or to be scam just to see this fight.

And some of us could have believed that Mike Tyson has a great chance to win because he used to have that kind of power that will knockout everyone, but that was during his prime and he is almost 60 years here and not very healthy. But the thing is that he is going to make millions so who cares.

yes exactly it's just hype considering the fact that that thing was put together just to make money and to make a lot of it then have the chance to massacre him there's no doubt about this I've seen how Jake hits and he doesn't convince me while the good mike is still a bull, obviously that's why there's all that money, we're all curious to see how it will end but I'm rooting for iron mike

Jake is huge and young. That's just what he is but I'm he can take what Mike can throw as long as it doesn't hit his jaw.

Hype IMO is dying since the date is way too far from the initial date. Mike having a medical emergency sounds a bit like there is more to his health, so it is scheduled almost at the end of the year.  Tickets are sold out as they claimed, however. Mike will not say he wants out but most likely they are pressured by the sponsors. If Netflix wants the world to be entertained, getting Mike the best healthcare at the moment up to the scheduled date will push the fight to materialize.

I would be very scared if Mike Tyson said that with that look at me, that's crazy, imagine what this guy was like in the ring at his peak, I mean, fighting against him... that look terrifies anyone... Mike Tyson will devour Jake Paul (even in the fake fight)

I know we should all be considering Mike Tyson's age and all but looking at his practice session even though we ain't seen him inside the ring or not active at all his training regime is really something worth looking at and even though Jake Paul has conquered many retired boxers, and MMA fighters we could say there are still fighters that are different in their league and Mike Tyson's training is not shown as weak for me there is a small chance for Tyson but age and those training videos can be deceiving sometimes here is a clip of Tyson's training.

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/jOj_nqxmtfU

I completely agree. If you think we're going to have a UFC fight, where there's blood and bones breaking or anything like that, we won't have it here. Let's just say it's going to be a fight for the whole family to watch, so it's bound to be boring.

But it's good that they're making money off of all this.

But still, boxing is even more dangerous than MMA as all shots of punches will be aimed at the head even though there is blood and bone breaking in MMA we can be sure that initial fatal death is lessened in MMA than with boxing and I believe that it is really harder to explained or it is hard to understand if they don't know some analytical moves in MMA and in boxing and how stance and style work with both combat sports for me I like both but for sure this fight is just exhibition match and referee will have to take precautious measures when they stop the fight, And for sure if you are the referee it is harder to really decide when will you stop the fight in boxing than with MMA.

Jake Paul dont need to pray, because recent Mike Tyson health issue showed that you cant beat age and at 50+ be like 20+ guys. I advice people to forget all what they have seen about Mike Tyson and look on this fight from old professional boxer vs young amateur boxer perspective. We know how hard Mike punches, how he knocks people, but current boxers are different. Training methods are different, people are different. For example, look how quick current football is, and how slow it was 30 years ago. Same adoption and difference happened with boxing. Being a heavy puncher isnt enough for today. As a proof, we dont have small heavy punchers like Mike Tyson, David Tua, Rocky Marciano, Joe Frazier in top anymore.

What you wrote makes perfect sense... The sport has evolved a lot in all areas, especially in personalized training focused on getting the best out of the athlete... Waiting to see the Mike of the past will be a disappointment. Mike Tyson athlete from the past, he "died" in the 80s, this Mike is another, he is a man of almost 60 years old...

Everything that will happen in this fight is like going to a Madonna concert... you will see her live, but she doesn't even sing and there isn't even a band playing live... Whoever goes there has to be aware that it is just an act... like two actors.

It really makes sense what you guys are trying to say we can not compare the people back then with the people now it is pretty much different as there were training regimes for back then with the advanced technologies that we have now there are different heavy puncher for the old days than what we have now.

And I remember in the Anime Kengan Ashura the Kure Clan or Family had this selective breeding to ensure that their daughters or sons would breed with well-known martial artists to produce a great fighter for their association for sure the boxers right now have some genes of the boxers in the past and when 2 fighters genes match maybe there is a certain something that may happen but for sure this is all in the anime but maybe it could have something to do with the recent strong athletes we have now.

Quote from: Yaunfitda link=topic=5487951.msg64197170#msg64197170
I think as the fight goes closer, this is what boxing fans are going to see, a young ambitious fighter in Jake Paul trying to make his name or even get a pro rank against the legendary boxer in Mike Tyson, one of the scariest boxers we have seen, but he is already old and we can see his age showing when he has ulcer and the fight postponed to a new date. But I haven't seen sport influencers though, like Jake Rogan when he heard that this fight is going to be rescheduled. He thinks that Mike will win here because again, the experience and the power, but age is really showing in this fight. The big age gap and others even calling Mike Tyson a grand pa already.

It was like we already knew what would happen inside the ring for sure Mike Tyson is already old now but if his level of power was still there Mike Tyson could still make Jake Paul kiss the canvas but the training of Jake Paul is just real enough for him to make Mike Tyson fall to his knees Jake Paul will surely rely on his awareness and defense that is why he needs to keep on moving, while Mike Tyson will rely on his deadly power if he can punish Paul with a barrage of punches and then if he connects a solid punch then the fight could be for Tyson but if Jake Paul could read the situation he can eventually evade the impending danger.
