I imagine this brainstorming + sketching taking at least another month from here.



This is a great idea and I'll try to already work it into the next concept art!

As for already planning a new version in 5 years to link this artwork to - I love ideas like that.
Since we already have the 10th anniversary artwork, I could link this one to it with some element and leave something open for the 20th anniversary!

I'm already coding these artworks together with my unique code (https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.63828817), so this is just one more connection in the art blockchain!

Awesome - I can easily imagine newbies as very plain looking bots, while older members look more upgraded and patchy!

I think if it will be possible, it would have been okay if we can incorporate the global influx of new people in the forum from different parts of the world into the art which should reemphasize the increasing level of global Bitcoin adoption. I believe the daily influx of people into the forum is a vital aspect of the forums growth and it's good they are also represented in the art.

Maybe something like a tiny pathway that springs from a part of the art and increases to the centre representing newbies that joins the forum with a naive and almost empty information about Bitcoin but grew up in Thier knowledge into being comfortable at the centre of the forum. My explanation might not hit the detail of what I mean but I hope it helps.

First of all, I want to congratulate all the artistic work that @1Dq has done.

It was a shame that I was not able to enter an earlier phase of the initiative. But there's still time.   

I'm not going to make major observations about the previous phases, since update #2 is actually closer to the ideas I had when I started reading about the initiative.




That would be my first suggestion, I think it will present a very different and innovative idea, very interesting.




Looking at your sketch, which looks good to me, I would make the following suggestion:
On the left side of the tower, you have the forum timeline. On the right side, you could create another timeline, linked to mining.

Every 4 years, the reward decreases, until the last new BTC mined. So, there could be some kind of column/tube or like an elevator outside the tower that is going up to the last mined "sat".

I don't know if in 5 years' time you're thinking about creating new art for your 20s. But this element could be a dynamic element that would accompany future arts.

Now, it was time to figure out where this "timeline" would fit, whether in the back plane or the middle plane.




1) A spammer would be like a beggar. Not just one, but a group of beggars around a drum to gain access. This bottle was "SPAM".

2) I think you could create something like a merit store. Let's just say it was the gadget guy who sells all kinds of trinkets. And next to him, we would see someone disruptive who would simulate merit.

3) It would be "Master Yoda", but in this case Satoshi. He watched everything from under his cloak, but no one could watch him. Maybe too much Star Wars... sorry.

Sorry, I don't have any ideas to put out in my mind, only the name Satoshi Nakamoto came to mind so that it could be included in the project. To remind us all, especially me personally, Bitcoin exists because of them.

What is clear is that this is very interesting for me to look forward to the final result, and if I come up with an interesting idea I will be happy to share it here

Yes. Thanks for the link, as we will include Satoshi in the artwork, so can we include his thread in our brainstorming!

I think pinggoki's post above is a better idea, instead of looking forward to an update which has been
on the horizon for a long time and might not arrive it would be nice to display Satoshi's first post which
it looks like Idq has already included!

Welcome to the new Bitcoin forum!

I just notice that the design is futuristic but the forum UI design is still design. I’m not sure whether it’s good or bad but there’s already robots out there but still the forum version is a bit outdated even on our current time.

Is it possible to display a futuristic forum concept which everyone is looking forward as major update to the existing version of the forum?

I don't know if this has been discussed already but it would be nice to change the post that the robot is checking out on the tablet, I think that it should be the first post of Satoshi that's in there or something like that, would be nice because that means that while we're celebrating something, we're also looking back at something which I think would be a nice touch.

It could be a robot that carries a lot of paper & wants to share with all the robots there.


It could be stars, have you ever watched Yu-Gi-Oh! anime?

You can visualize it with for example 2 robots interacting with each other, one receiving stars and the other giving them, that's what's in my mind so far.


I don't have any idea for this.

VISUAL UPDATE #2

I began the stylistic transformation into vintage sfi-fi atmosphere.

This is just concept art and anything can still change!

We have entered project's second phase, where most of the exciting back and forth between my concept art and your commenting happens!





The composition is now even more obviously divided into three planes; the back, the middle and the front.

In the back stands the main BTCtalk tower from which bridges, towers and other connections expand outward connecting everything.
The BTC is lit with warm light that could be made with real golden leafs in the final canvas artwork.
There is also the "15" for our anniversary and below nicknames of Satoshi and Theymos, two of the big names that could be named there as pillars of BTCtalk.

In the middle are connections bridges from back to front, here there's space for various forum activities and enterprises both from past and present.

I enlarged the front part so I can paint in many specific details that have already been discussed and many more here.
Right now it's all very abstract, so I can transform it into anything, using very different shapes and colors.


Why vintage sci-fi style?
Through several comments it was made clear that to many members this place feels nostalgic.
One reason is it's text based, the other the fact that forums had their golden era years ago, then there's the almost forgotten feel of making the world better...
It all feels like a retro futuristic utopia in the best way, because we are part of it!

A quick disclaimer.
I don't use AI to generate images and I don't intend to.
I don't like how most of it is used and I rather go a step further back into classic painting.
Not that I hate people using it ort I'll never use it, I just feel it gets toxic and ruins things pretty fast.

I'll wrap today with three questions for you:

1.) How to visualize a spammer?

2.) How to visualize merit?

3.) Who to paint as main character in the front right (if anyone)?

I will absolutely add these, it's neat they mostly have recognizable logos I can paint in.


I thought blue was more natural for the cool digital world we reside in!

Yes, in relation to members names I think they could go on the left along the tower and this will
balance the forums menus which you have on the left.


Maybe add BCT on the tower, its obvious to us what the project is about but to others it might not
_{some people refer to the forum as BTT, there was a discussion about that somewhere a few weeks ago}



Definitely add Satori, BTCC, Polymerbit and Icarus



I personally like the Blue, its more lively which should reflect the forum, it also hints to the
lightning network if thats relevant IDK. I think I would like to see hints of Orange ^{or is that too obvious?}

It's about time I provided some visual material to help boost our brainstorming morale.


VISUAL UPDATE #1


My fellow robots and cyborgs, this is where we begin:




**All points below are open for discussion so you can freely comment on anything! **

* Using the original artwork, I reconfigured the composition to give us a bit more space for extra forum's content.

* The huge Bitcoin tower in the background stands for the forum's mass and value.  
   It now has the big symbolic BTC powered with light energy that runs through its entire height.
   This energy represents the Bitcoin core (blockchain) and I'd use the hue of that energy to power everything else going on.
   Top of the tower is crowned with lightning bolts, representing the electricity needed for Bitcoin's functioning.
   Below the BTC is a vertical text "15 years", for our anniversary celebration.

* I photobashed the motif with sf images for inspiration and atmosphere.

* In the left is the "Economy tower", so far the most exposed board tree and in it's bottom is our collectibles place.
  Not many details in so far, but you might already find something entertaining.

* In the bottom middle are some members doing random stuff.
   I expect this part to be very lively in the end.

* In the right there's only a board with our three contests marked on it with a lot of free space around.
  Bottom right is a newbie, lurking and checking out the scene.

* I also tried the motif in two color variants:





I'm interested in your thoughts on all points above as well as fresh ideas!

I'll continue working on new concept art and will be back asap.

* Yogg becomes a pile of debris with robo dog peeing on it, Coldscam is replaced or sprayed over and Icarus replaces it.

* Metaverse stays in the title.

* There is equal part of "these guys failed us" and "these guys hold the torch high and bright".

* Add contests of Bitcoin Pizza, Pie and Pumpkin carving contests in form of amusement or carnival area.

* Include famous advertising like foxpup merit cycling, chipmixer / blender advertisments, LEALANA branding / Casascius branding / Kialara branding.

* Expose OG names outside the collectibles like, theymos, Welsh, mprep, philipma1957 and gmaxwell for example.
Also those who are not here and were very well renowned, Lauda, o_e_l_e_o and Zepher ...

Thoughts on atmosphere and places:

Emphasis on dark, moody underground black-market, futuristic hacker type stuff.

We could imagine greens, blues, reds, computer monitors, hooded figures, Bitcoin swap service advertisements,
some tiny exchange advertisements, maybe gambling platforms.

Also Cyberpunk 90's grungy Hong Kong' vibe- small billboards everywhere, just like every other user had ads on their signatures
like the SW cantina with different characters gathering, some dark, but also philosophers and aristocrats


There’s still a lot of ground to cover, like:

•   What would the shape of the main structure in the back look like?

•   Are there any completely new objects, characters or places to add?

•   Do we stick with this color pallette?

•   Should all main subboards of the forum be presented and to what detail?

•   How to visualize developing of Bitcoin and new cores?

•   Do we present various nationalities?

•   What are some interesting or important threads and projects on the forum we should include?

•   Any plain fun ideas you have?


I'll wait for a bit more material and then start sketching!

This is a nice, positive approach to present this segment of Bitcoin (forum).

Shall we make a list of top brands and persons to include? Including the good, the bad and the ugly! 

Personally, I think we need an equal parts of "these guys failed us" and "these guys hold the torch high and bright".

The forum has been instrumental to the consistent appreciation of collections like Casascius, BTCC, BitBills, and many other creators who were honest and gave us nice pieces.

At the same time, it's been a venue for Yogg, and other scammers like Coinographic, to chase returns.

If scammers are burning/behind bars/piles of excrement, then we should be putting the honest creators high up as well - A Cas tower (if we're doing the Blade Runner theme), or a BTCC mine, or a BitBills bearer back alley deal would be good to see.

Of course, the presentation can vary - I'm not married to any of these ideas - but I do think that creators who have delivered high quality, secure work should act as a contrast to those who failed us.

 Yes that blade runner vibe is exactly what I would want to see.

Good point. I also stuck with it because it suited this image more than others like Bitcoin "world", "planet", "universe", "metropolis" or similar.


Will certainly add those, we just need to find proper places for them.
I guess this will be one of my first tasks when sketching a new version!


Yes yes, a bit of this and a bit of Blade Runner and some of our own atmosphere and we're there!


I feel that this is very important and the more I think about this the more space I'd give it.
This forum and it's fruits is all thanks to the effort of certain individuals starting it all.
Later on it created communities and attracted more and more people.

Can we incorporate these personas into the metaverse to show that they were/are fundamental for its existance?
Maybe in the form of some sort of pillars with characters or statues or something.
Though I wouldn't want it to look old fashioned, like a statue in a park, but rather make it obvious they are still relevant and here.

Also Satoshi.
