The overall viewpoint of society on gambling activities is negative, not least because they see from the many facts that people end up in bad situations in life as a result of being involved in gambling, although I would say you will still be fine by having the right approach to gambling but still if the public knows that you are involved then they will most likely think that you are one of the people who will be the next victim of this gambling activity.

Therefore I think there is no point in exposing this gambling activity to others especially to people who do not gamble or even who are against gambling activities, because it will only create a bad image from the views of others to you. So of course it's better to just keep it a secret with a note that you must have a good approach in your gambling involvement, because I'm sure all gamblers don't want to end up in a slump as a result of the wrong gambling approach and the other thing is to remain guarded and firm in applying risk management.
Not that really new and not really that shocking anymore on which there would really be those kind of negative impressions and views towards gambling on which it isnt really that new anymore into this society on which there would really be always those negative things to say about. This is why its not really that shocking that people would really be that be secretive into the gambling dealing that they are really that doing in silent.
They dont really like on getting judged and this is why you cant blame them on not to show themselves that they are getting involved with gambling specially into the people around.
Even into our relatives or family, we would really be skeptical on letting them see on what we are doing because once they do saw that you are involved with gambling then they would be
automatically having those negative impressions that you are really that addicted and have that wrecked life in terms of finances. lol

Yes overall you have also confirmed that gambling has a bad or even very bad point of view in the eyes of society, and another driver is that not all countries legalize this activity so with this then obviously the public's point of view will be even stronger towards gambling is a bad activity that must be avoided, and also this is the reason why most gamblers prefer to keep their gambling activities secret because they don't want to have a bad image or view from the surrounding community.

Yes that's right, not only from the point of view of others but it also includes the point of view of our own family will be negative towards us because of our gambling activities, so it's best that there is no other way that we have to keep our gambling activities secret, after all gambling is only for enjoyment and not for display, you will not get any points from your decision to reveal everything to others and more likely it will only make your image bad in the eyes of others.
Nothing shocking and its always been like this on which people would really be having that kind of impression on which they would really be focusing into its cons or effects rather than on seeing into its actual
purpose on why it would be existed but well we cant really be able to deny those persons on which having that kind of molded kind of believe towards gambling is because we do really see those rampant
behaviors or really having those tons of conditions on which people do really mess up their lives because of gambling rather than on seeing on the positive that it could bring out.

The number of those who do become addicted and mess up their lives comparing to those who have none is really that in huge gap and this is why it wont really be shocking that
they would really be completely be making those kind of generalization in relation to this on which it is really that something to be in default.
If you dont like on getting judged then it would be better to play alone and silently or not known specially if you do live in a place where there are lots of judgmental persons.

Yes what you said is very true, for the problem of whether gamblers will keep their gambling habits secret or not all of that really depends on themselves and depends on their comfort, although overall gambling has a fairly negative viewpoint in the eyes of society but I think it doesn't matter if they show their gambling activities to others if they have a good gambling approach and are also one of the gamblers who have full responsibility for this habit.

The point is like you said that as long as they don't harm others by always gambling using their own budget without borrowing from others or whatever I don't think people should criticize or assume they are people who have bad behavior even though they are involved in gambling, it's all about choice and everyone has the right and freedom in terms of choosing something.
Maybe if we live in a toxic environment, it could have social effects on us and maybe also on our families. like our children who may receive the impact of teasing from neighbors or playmates about us being gamblers.
it's not a big deal if the environment doesn't interfere. and we also do not harm them. but there are impacts that may be received by people close to us.
I personally prefer to remain silent and only talk about gambling with people who actually gamble. for everyone else, it's better not to.

People decide to hide their habit of gambling because of different reasons, such as how other people see them and the possible outcome of their actions. Some gamblers are also not proud due to social stigma or negative perceptions. While others choose privacy to avoid problems with family and friends. It's important to note that people have different perceptions of gambling. In the end, choosing to hide that you gamble is a personal choice.

This is a valid point.

It's still depend on the person whether he wants others to know his gambling habits or just keep it to himself. It's really a personal decision and others should not meddle into someone else's business. As long as the person is gambling responsibly, and doesn't negatively impacts the people around him because of negligence, then I think they should be left as is. You are right when you mentioned that gamblers hide their activities for various reasons. If they want to open up to someone close to them, then better so that they can also receive criticisms when they need to. But if they don't, let's just respect their choice. After all, it's still a matter of making your life private or known to public.

Wisdom is profitable to direct, hide your gambling habits when it is needed and make it open where you think it's necessary, don't just be a dumb of the way the circumstances around you are, at least open your eyes to see the way things are, there's no essence in trying to please those that don't care about what you do, look closely into the situation before you apply your way in, this is about the way people will approach you and respect you for whom you're and not by what you do.
Actually there's nothing to be hidden on which it would really be just that normal that there would really be those people who do really love on touching up others lives without even trying to look on their own on which i cant blame out into those people who would really be that skeptical on showing off their actions publicly just because they dont really like that other people would be saying other things.
It is really just that depending on a certain individual on which there are ones who are really that loving on touching other peoples lives and there are ones who dont really care.
Keeping it a secret isnt really that necessary if you are really just that playing for fun and not really that being impulsive towards it. People do messes up their lives
because of wrong decisions and this is why they do really end up on getting fucked up in the end.

People who post here should meet people who post in Never gamble in front of your kids. Together you going to elevate gambling to such high level of evil and addiction, that I am afraid gambling soon going to be second thing to be banned on the forum Cheesy

People who say gambling is so bad and raises immediate addiction, and parallel wear gambling signatures, how do you sleep at night? Do you feel any guilt for making it more popular?

If we think about gambling and secret, how often do we even share info about such hobby, to worry it being a secret? Those who gamble usually dont announce it on public, did not call for viewers, did not involve anyone to do the same. People just gamble. No need to make big drama out of it. People should not have to do special care to keep it secret. Just dont talk about it and that is it. There is no need to come to everyone and say that you keep your gambling habit as a secret.

Good point about hiding and feelings. People hide things they do because they are either feel uncomfortable (like feeling ashamed of it) what they do, or the things they do has illegal context. Is gambling illegal? In some countries yes, in some not. I would understand if person hide that he gamble in country where it is illegal. About feelings, if I am an adult, why would I be ashamed of gambling? Or feel uncomfortable from doing something that brings me fun. Seems absurd to me.

But many do feel ashamed about their gambling habit, even if they are adults. In the first place, gambling is something not to be brag about or announced to anyone you know, maybe just to your trusted and close friends. The root cause is the stereotyping created by many people or the crowd; they think that gambling is illegal and bad, but the ones who create that description are the people who do it; there is no gambling addict if those people control themselves; there are no crimes related to gambling if they discipline themselves; in short, the people themselves are the reason why gambling is being categorised as an illegal or bad habit. Well, we can't please all people, so if you don't want to be judged, then it's better to hide it as I said gambling habit is something not to brag, keep it low and keep it safe.

Not everyone sees gambling as a good game. Most players grew in environments where gambling is not promoted as a decent activity. Living for many years with those ill thoughts on gambling can affect the perspective of the players. It's not simple he'd forget about those responses he's heard people say about gambling in his neighborhood or his family. Even when he's free or stays alone he'd find himself involuntarily hiding his gambling activities. Compared to a gambler that grew up with gambling designated people. So, it's best to say that the player isn't prepared psychologically to gamble. Such people exist in other stigmatized life activities. They wouldn't want people to have some stigma on them, and they have care about what the society would say regarding their behavior. I'd add that when in such a situation, staying active in learning the positive meaning of what we do changes our thinking, most times the idea of the society is always wrong.

It's not fine to have stigma on some certain type of people, because they engage in gambling. Since no crime is associated to it, or anybody getting harmed in the process, gamblers shouldn't feel attacked by the society to an extent of hiding our habit. However, the pressure society has on gamblers, is not much compared in the previous decades, when lots of factors like religion wasn't and still not on the side of gamblers. Online casinos have reduced the rate people go to casino or some gaming houses to stake money. Where they'll be seen by lots of people who go about saying all sort of things about the person. In today's world, players should learn to speak up and don't feel ashamed of gambling. Provided the gambler is not addicted and acts responsible why should he hide his habit.

Keeping our gambling habits a secret is very important because it ensures that someone is not influenced by us, especially when it comes to those closest to us and we don't want them to become addicted to gambling, usually people who are new to casinos usually have high curiosity, therefore  It's best to distance ourselves from relatives or friends, at least playing when we're alone is much better.  rather than playing online casinos when with friends.
If we want to keep our gambling habits a secret, we must also have good self-control so that we don't gamble excessively and lose a lot of money. We have to prevent this from happening so that we can gamble comfortably without anyone knowing and can also avoid losing a lot and being addicted to gambling. And because by keeping our gambling habits a secret, we must be able to gamble responsibly. Those who are new to gambling do have a high curiosity. But they must be able to control themselves because novice gamblers are vulnerable to the temptations that exist in gambling and can make them forget the purpose of gambling.

I agree with you that when gambling, I have good self-control so as not to get lost in the game, because I am well aware that gambling is just to fill the void and look for other activities from my real busyness.  talking about friends or relatives so they don't find out I always play alone rather than openly playing in front of them, because it will trigger someone who sees it if we let them see when we gamble, I also always limit the money for gambling and which money is for living needs, if money  put these together, it will be dangerous for my life, the advice you give or everyone on this forum is always my benchmark when playing gambling to be more careful when playing..
Does "it will trigger someone", it might encourage other family members to gamble more? If that's the case, it's definitely possible. Especially if they see you having fun and winning consistently, they might be more likely to try gambling and play more than you do. This is one other reason why we should really keep our gambling activities to ourselves. Other relatives that might be influenced by our gambling activities may destroy their lives. No one would want to be responsible for anything bad happening to our relatives because of our influence.

I would like to go with OP, like the things how he explained. Actually there are many responsible gamblers who can control themselves, they follow some rules and limitation too and then do Gambling for fun. And thus gambling doesn't affect much in their life or their relationship. So they might be wonder why they keep it secret? Actually some addicted people presents gambling in a bad way to people where these addicted are steel money, force family members for money, sell out property even take lots of loan for covering gambling cost. And people also notice the changes and problems what a gambler face. And this is why people don't like gambling even will blame a gambler for many reasons where gambler isn't gulity at all. So better to keep it secret as op said.
You might have your point though just like the OP as well, but I still do not submit to the conclusion that a good gambler who is responsible in his gambling activities, and perhaps making money through it should keep it a secret. After all, you are not ashamed of it, or are you? If Yes, then why gambling? You should have just let go of what you are ashamed of. But if your answer is No, then you make it look otherwise as you are proving that you are not proud of it this way, because if you are proud of it, you will not do it in secrecy but even make it public for all you cared. If gambling is not even earning for you but at the same time not affecting your life negatively, I see nothing wrong in letting people know about it. This is especially because you are not stealing, borrowing, begging and doing all sorts of irresponsible things to get the money to gamble.

Once it is your money and it is the money you can afford to lose that you are committing to it and still do not let yourself get engrossed with it to the point that you irresponsibly waste time gambling, I do not think that it is worth it to keep it a secret unless you are just a private person that doesn't like people know what is going on in your life. But for the stereotype fear of it, I think that you are such that doesn't have your own mind if you are too careful about people. Damn what they will say about me. I have my own mind, and I do not care about what you conclude about me. Once I know what I am doing and I do not go astray in it, I will continue to do what I want to do, who cares? Needless to say, I have a lot of friends gambling, both male and female, we all do it publicly because our lifestyle is not such that you can ridicule, and most of all are doing well. So think whatever you want to think about me as I do whatever I want to do. It is my life

I agree with what the op said that we have our views on such things especially if we are in the gambling industry. Especially if you, the gambler, are a family person or breadwinner, you should own something like this that you want to try or habit as a gambler.

As long as possible, let's not let greed or addiction get into us, just play a normal gamble that doesn't have to be a bad result in the end. Instead, it should still help us, right? As long as possible, our children or other children should not see what we are doing.

that's right, we have our own preferences and our own choices to keep or publicize our gambling activities, I myself prefer to keep it a secret, because in my opinion, even though I win from gambling, it's not something I can be proud of in front of many people, because there are so many people who has a bad view on gambling. This also makes me think harder and consider whether I want to tell other people about my gambling activities.

I have a friend who likes gambling and I think he is very obsessed with gambling, because when he gambles he always shows every good spin to his friends, and maybe his goal is to show off, but every now and then I get annoyed with his gambling behavior eagerly wanting to be praised for his occasional good spin, which I was concerned about when he was gambling how stupid he was always getting winnings but always wasting them, and this didn't happen just once or even many times. I even gave him a warning not to play at my house anymore because I myself was annoyed with his behavior like that, I mean it's okay to be enthusiastic but don't overdo it because I think it's TACKY.
I agree with you, we should hide our gambling activities, especially with children who are not yet old enough, they should not know about the gambling activities we do.

Gambling is considered a curse or a bad deed in some countries or regions due to religious and family considerations. If you live in those countries or societies and if you gamble while living in those countries or societies, then you are definitely a criminal in the eyes of the society and the country. And the family will look down on you for the gambling you are doing so you have to gamble with utmost secrecy to avoid these things from happening. There is no difference between gambling openly or secretly because you have to gamble whether people know or not. If keeping the gambling secret is good for you, then it is better to keep the gambling secret.

Since most players lose at a distance, of course they don’t need to tell others about it. It would sound very strange.
- Hello, what are you doing?
- I do sports betting
-Have you gotten rich in 5 years?
- No, I lost all my money.
You can have this imaginary conversation with your interlocutor over and over again. In many countries, according to the rules of etiquette, it is not allowed to talk about money and earnings. But even where it is allowed, it is not the right thing to do.

I think it's not necessarily about keeping a gambling habbit secret from public view... but choosing the right place to share gambling experiences is still the best practice to do. Some people view gambling as a taboo topic, and rather than disrupting regular conversations because someone dislikes gambling while others enjoy it, it might be better not to touch on the subject of gambling in certain discussions.
I understand when you say it's a taboo topic, because many young people are getting introduced to gambling nowadays through virtual sports betting casinos, and since these youngsters are still newbies on this matter, they don't have any experience, besides having distorted expectations regards gambling, what inevitably has brought losses for many of them. Therefore, regulators, parents, authorities are concerned about gamblers' routine. Some people turned against online casinos full of angry claiming they make huge profit over the misery of their sons and brothers.

These people are so hostile towards gambling, that a reasonable conversation seems to not be even possible right now. They remove all the responsabilities from gamblers and put them entirely over casinos and gambling exclusively. So, it's really not a good idea to talk about your gambling experience anywhere. To avoid an unnecessary quarrel is the best you can do.
