Wisdom is profitable to direct, hide your gambling habits when it is needed and make it open where you think it's necessary, don't just be a dumb of the way the circumstances around you are, at least open your eyes to see the way things are, there's no essence in trying to please those that don't care about what you do, look closely into the situation before you apply your way in, this is about the way people will approach you and respect you for whom you're and not by what you do.

Not everyone sees gambling as a good game. Most players grew in environments where gambling is not promoted as a decent activity. Living for many years with those ill thoughts on gambling can affect the perspective of the players. You are right when you mentioned that gamblers hide their activities for various reasons. If they want to open up to someone close to them, then better so that they can also receive criticisms when they need to. But if they don't, let's just respect their choice. After all, it's still a matter of making your life private or known to public.

Does "it will trigger someone", it might encourage other family members to gamble more? If that's the case, it's definitely possible. You might have your point though just like the OP as well, but I still do not submit to the conclusion that a good gambler who is responsible in his gambling activities, and perhaps making money through it should keep it a secret. After all, you are not ashamed of it, or are you? If Yes, then why gambling? You should have just let go of what you are ashamed of. But if your answer is No, then you make it look otherwise as you are proving that you are not proud of it this way, because if you are proud of it, you will not do it in secrecy but even make it public for all you cared. If gambling is not even earning for you but at the same time not affecting your life negatively, I see nothing wrong in letting people know about it. This is especially because you are not stealing, borrowing, begging and doing all sorts of irresponsible things to get the money to gamble.

Once it is your money and it is the money you can afford to lose that you are committing to it and still do not let yourself get engrossed with it to the point that you irresponsibly waste time gambling, I do not think that it is worth it to keep it a secret unless you are just a private person that doesn't like people know what is going on in your life. I agree with you that when gambling, I have good self-control so as not to get lost in the game, because I am well aware that gambling is just to fill the void and look for other activities from my real busyness.  talking about friends or relatives so they don't find out I always play alone rather than openly playing in front of them, because it will trigger someone who sees it if we let them see when we gamble, I also always limit the money for gambling and which money is for living needs, if money  put these together, it will be dangerous for my life, the advice you give or everyone on this forum is always my benchmark when playing gambling to be more careful when playing..

that's right, we have our own preferences and our own choices to keep or publicize our gambling activities, I myself prefer to keep it a secret, because in my opinion, even though I win from gambling, it's not something I can be proud of in front of many people, because there are so many people who has a bad view on gambling. Exactly.I don't think that keeping this habit secret makes a difference but surely playing in a very quiet place without any interference is at least guaranteeing that you are enjoying at the fullest your gambling session.Whenever I used to gamble at work I almost never won and usually lost big,my rage could be felt inside yet I needed to act very well to not let colleagues to know what was happening to me.Also when playing with people around that can be a bad impact on your gambling session as you can lose focus,so the best approach is to play in a very comfortable place to enjoy your gambling session at the maximum and there is no need to keep it as a secret.

Not that really new and not really that shocking anymore on which there would really be those kind of negative impressions and views towards gambling on which it isnt really that new anymore into this society on which there would really be always those negative things to say about.
