This thread is a good reminder for the long term believers. You should know when to stop holding your bags of altcoins because if you don't have any plan like stop loss for your investments then you will lose all of your money or capital from your investments. Before investing, you should have a solid plan like when you are going to take profit and when you are going to cut your losses.

yes, it doesn't need to depend entirely on their words unless it makes sense we can make it a new insight. for me to invest depends on how coins develop and also the market situation, in other cases to get profit we can do it when our coins experience price increases, sales don't have to wait long if you are not the type of patient person.

It is good to know that we have this topic so newbies will also have the chance to weigh things about holding/hodling. As for me, everyone has the right to do whatever that pleases them. But if someone will ask me, I think we need to hold if we think that the coin/token will have a promising or higher value in the future. This can be done if your long-term plan with your crypto.

When I hold a coin for too long I lose a lot of it, so now my principle is when the price of the coin goes up and I have gotten a profit, then I have to sell it quickly, because if it lasts too long, we don't know when the coin will rise
You are following day trade/short term trade. Those people who hold coin they make 2/3x profit. Until they reach on that limit they dont sell. It may take 1-6 months.

a good strategy indeed in making decisions to sell coins that have long been in HOLD then sell when there is little profit, but if the market continues to crawl up later yourself will also be disappointed because of the decision that has been taken.
it's true that we don't know when the coin will go up, the important thing is not to miss the news that entered and the development of the coin that it hold.

Newbies can easily be influenced from what they hear from speculations.. I've read several times people tend to advice to hold long term. because its easy for them to say JUST HOLD cause theyre not the one losing! For me its not all about holding, its being smart about your own invesment know when to stop and cut the losses.

What are your thoughts?

Yes you may have a point and right statement on this one mate. There is nothing wrong with holding only the problem is the coin We bought in the market if it the right one. And if We search it first, in this way We can minimize the risk I think.

Speculations shouldn't be your underlying reason for you to either sell or hodl your crypto coins. You should first understand why you have a particular crypto coin and also should have an investment plan for any crypto coin you have or buy. You investment plan will let you know when to stop hodling your coin and the best time to sell them.  Investment plan helps you minimize your level of risk of losing your investment money.

Yes, we shoud hold, but partially. Cut the loses is wise strategy and it show that you are not greedy. Because greedy and fear - enemies of trader or holder. Be patient and cold. It is just a numbers - not money. And with such strategy all will be good.

I won't advise anyone to hold now. Am not holding, holding has dealt me a blow. Any profit I see, I sell off. I think that's being smart.

It is when you sell at your target price, but even in some condition, we need to remove our sell wall and move it up to gain more profit if Bull run is in effect.  We still need to watch closely on the market, the support and resistance, how strong they are.  If buy support keeps coming and resistance is being eaten, I guess it would be smarter to hodl a bit and retarget our goal on how much we wanted to profit.  It is not being greedy if we know what we are doing.

The best thing is to be smart with everything and in everyway in cryptocurrency, listening to rumors spreading daily about holding had made a lot of newbies to lose a reasonable amount of money, a wise trader we always know the time to sell and the time to hold.
In any case, we don’t need to talk about selling today, because if we take into account the price level of 2017 and the beginning of 2018, then I really strongly believe that we will return to the previous indicators of cryptocurrency prices.  And for this you need to save all your assets.

everyone doesn't know when to stop HOLD , For example, you buy at a high price and now down far, you must hold until your capital returns , and vice versa when you buy at a low price and already profit, you can sell at any time

As a good trader, you always need to know your enter position and when you are going to quit it. Otherwise it is nothing else than poor luck, traders that are trading in that way are most likely to lose their deposit within several days.

Yeah, at least try to have a predetermined plan so your holdings will have direction. It's ok to be flexible at times especially when there are big news about your coin but most of the time, stay within your target.

It is a very difficult question and in my opinion there is no time limit for holding coins. There are people that have bought BTC for several cents and held them till the bull run. But there are another people that cannot hold longer than 1 month.

As for big coins, you can hold them without paying attention to the news. Buy and hold will work with btc, ripple, eth almost for sure, but with smaller coins you must always keep in touch with reality. Look what happened with BSV. Similar things may happen to any coin you hold, as you cannot predict what will happen the next day, you can only keep in touch and react the right way.

Of course, holding is the best thing to do if you wanted to make profits, but be sure to not hold as long as you intended.

surely we will know this when we feel it is a profit point from our initial capital. investment does not have to wait long term if there is a chance we sell it directly, unless the assets we have are dead coins we have to exchange them for new coins.
