Sorry in advance whether this topic has been created or not.
I often see topics related to stop gambling.

Arise in my mind, everyone is easy to say stop gambling but doing it is very difficult.
So I have the urge that every individual can stop gambling by having the seven elements that I give below.

Thought:
Many gambling addicts think to stop, but emotional problems that encourage individuals to have more money when winning in gambling games, the biggest impact is the opposite that gets is defeat, not to mention the impact on the family when problems arise: "I want to stop gambling". Out of the mouth.

All that is based on the mind, no, sincerely to stop gambling.

There are things you need to remember to stop gambling, not based on money, money is just greed: again, again and again.

To stop gambling there are some addicts to do.

1. Intention: the main capital intention in determining individuals to stop gambling, if someone has a strong determination to stop it will have the percentage of someone actually quitting gambling.
2. Individual mindset: this is very heavy, most difficult for many heavy addicts to do.
The mindset of individuals used to associate with gambling gangs, the mafia, now change the mindset and associate with wise, good, and respectable people, little by little addicts will wake up and the days are full of good deeds.
3. Family: in this case it is prioritized, first the family in the number position......now the family is made number 1 more time with family.
4. Hobbies: this also supports to stop playing gambling, used to be a hobby of balls, horse racing or elements that easily fall prey to gambling, now switch hobbies that do not blend gambling, such as reading, hard work, etc.
5. Debt: if the habit of debt, for now stop, accept it as is, do not look too much up, multiply look down, which needs to be remembered, above the sky there is still sky, below the ground there is still land, thankful.
6. Positive: positive thinking can also encourage someone to be more confident, first thinking evil now thinking positive patterns.
7. Greedy and emotional: stay away from this trait, if you lose in a bet you think placing more bets to win, it's all gone, you get sheer destruction, so you, have to take decision number 5 "debt" front of destruction for your, that's for sure.

If you do the above I believe that anyone can get rid of the habit of gambling.
The important thing to do something that must be a commitment in determining success.

For me gambling is fun.
Anything in this world that is unhealthy to your lifestyle should be stopped. You can consider gambling as one of the biggest hindrance for you to become successful most specially if it is already unhealthy to you. Self control is one of the most important thing that you should have if you are going to gamble. Once you enter gambling, there's only two options and you should set yourself ready on whatever may happen. If you are just a careless one, you should never enter it to begin with.

It doesn't matter if you cannot really stop gambling, as long as you can know when to stop or reduce the intensity to play gambling, you don't have to worry. But yes, you need to control yourself in gambling because of many gamblers forget to control themselves, and that makes them lose too much money. Leaving gambling will be the best thing that we can do before it is too late for us, especially if we are too weak to deny the temptations for playing gambling. There is no reason for us to stay at the gambling place if we don't want to become addicted to gambling.
This is what a gamblers needs, self control.

Unfortunately, gamblers are playing without proper self control so the end result? They will lose their money and worse, they will do bad things just to have more money because they want a revenge. They will borrow from their relatives just to have money to gamble.

Leaving gambling is hard especially if you are addicted but if you don't want yourself to get destroyed by it then you must face it. Leave gambling and have another life. Find another ways to use your time. Don't spend too much time and money in gambling but instead use it for your family if you have Smiley

Think about the persona not just the gambler, I also consider about those who want to start business about creating their own gambling site and I think the best way for them to avoid it destroying their lives is to follow and comply with the regulation they need especially to adopt to the jurisdiction of many country in terms of gambling. So far, that is the only reason that I could think of.

So, in the case of a gambler, the most fatal foe they could have is addiction, for me, being addicted to almost everything that involves money could make us think of act that is not conforming to the norms and standards of the society.

~~can you start with saying,, "it is obvious that gambling addiction can destroy people" so it will not sound negative for gambling~~
I agree with you. Gambling won't destroy people who know it well, not greedy, and set the limit of funds. Never blame gambling since there is no problem with it. The problem is on the users/gamblers who play blindly and no strategy at all. I'm not a professional gambler but I assume to gamble, you need proper knowledge. So, you don't blame gamble when you get losses.

It is obvious enough that gambling can destroy people especially to those who are becoming an gambling addict or those who are addicted to gambling

Can you rephrase your wordings,... can you start with saying,, "it is obvious that gambling addiction can destroy people" so it will not sound negative for gambling who's business is just to entertain people and we gamblers are in control of our faith, that lack of discipline in gambling are destroying us so we should not blame gambling for that, instead blame ourselves.

It is obvious enough that gambling can destroy people especially to those who are becoming an gambling addict or those who are addicted to gambling already. First, gambling will make you lose all your money more than the amount that you have won. Second, once you are a gambling addict, most people can't change their mindset to able to stop gambling and avoid losing more money. It is likely the reason why people should look for guidance to stop gambling at least.

Easier said than done actually. Once you got deeper into gambling, there's no turning back. And if there is a way out of the mess, it will be pretry hard and the withdrawal would be pretty long as well. Even a regular trip to the psychiatrist didn't save some of thr chronic gamblers I knew, and ended up in jails due to their unpaid debt to different people and companies

I agree that it is hard to quit gambling once you get addicted

But I can't agree that the withdrawal is going to be that hard or long. After all, gambling is not drugs or drug addiction (like with narcotics, antidepressants, or sedatives) which change your brain chemistry on a fundamental, possibly irreversible, level, and there is real suffering that occurs upon the abrupt cessation (going "cold turkey")

The point is, it is not the withdrawal that makes gamblers come back. As an example, you can be forced to stop gambling due to some lasting external factor, then feel discomfort for some time like a couple days, and that would be pretty much all. Then, in a month or so, you are gambling again with fever and passion as addicted as before
Gambling is like a delicious food once you taste, it is very difficult to let go that makes a gambler come back, that is why for you to avoid addiction in gambling you must not take a small bite or try it even in a small time because it is really hard to stop. It is very easy to say but very hard to do.

That's a very helpful post and I do agree that for an addicted gambler is not that easy to stop. There is a lot happening in our subconscious and overall the human psychology is very complex. One might associate the achievement of all his dreams with gambling. He sees that as the easiest way to enrich himself so he keeps trying to win the "pot", but I think through education and will anyone can get rid of this vice.

It all starts from this statement: "Gambling hasn't been created for people to make money, but instead it is a business that relies on statistics and mathematical advantage to make money." - It is a form of entertainment after all. I recommend looking at it like at a cinema ticket.

Yes it is a long term process because there is no instant that a player can really stop playing gambling because they need to do first is to minimize and reduce playing until they can stop playing and they need advice to understand if they still being addictive there is not good future that comes to him.

Addicted playing is not good but if you are player who play sometimes only so you will be safe from losing a lot of money. Relatives can really help by giving advice and help to recover and how he can really stop playing.
Well if you are player then it can destroy you because you know the what possible happen. Also if you know its not safe then dont pursue to gamble, rest for while but dont stop because when you understand the correct gamble or you know how to manage then gambling can give you good future. Even gambling is addictive but if you know your limit and have goal then surely you will overcome yoir loses.

Addicted to gambling and want to stop suddenly is not an easy thing to do in gambling. This is a long process, depending on the level of addiction. If the level of addiction is too high, it will be even more difficult to stop it. But in this case it can still recover with the help of family and close friends. so with their suggestions the addiction can be lost.

In a way every addiction kills that addict. Thats why they are all a type of poison and that is why people like it. However a responsible gambler, like I have previously knows his bankroll and his gambling habit. They would know how to manage their work life, personal life and the gambling habit. If they cannot do this properly then they need to seek professional help. I think every gambler should spend some time taking care of their bad habits and promise to themselves not to waste too much time and money on playing.

After all we all should help others seek the proper path in life and not shame the addicts. They can change their ways with time and they need support.
Gambling is not good, but still many people are taking risk to gamble because of possible huge earning. Also i think gambling is the easy way to increase your money if you win but if not people spend again until they do it regularly and become addictive to it. Thats why we should know if its good to continue or stop it, dont waste your money you should have plan on how you spend it, do gamble just for fun not for hobby.

Gambling is different ... Suppose if you have skills, then you are more likely to win in poker than in one-armed bandit! Wink

You correctly said - if frequent losses begin, then you should stop!

because all of us need some sort of relaxation.
relaxation, relax, has its own meaning in the human soul, should not be done based on a "hobby".
If "relaxation" is released with 'hobby' guidelines then the shock of the soul, emotions, anger that occurs when you see your support, lose, in a match.
This is a factor if, if someone decides to stop gambling, he must also be kept away from the worst 'hobbies' in the past.

"relaxation" can be done with yoga exercises. This yoga technique can make you disappear from anxiety and tension, will stabilize the mind to "relax" from the stress of gambling, yoga can make you a directed imagination, breathing and muscle.
So that you will forget your bad past hobbies.

I find it hard to argue with this because one of my favorite contemporary philosophers, Yuval Noah Harari, sometimes praises yoga and says that daily Vipassana Meditation, in particular, helps him personally a lot. However, although I respect Harari, I feel like yoga is not for me. I mean, I tried it many times, but somehow for me it doesn't work. It may look strange, but please consider that people are different, and what works for some doesn't necessarily work for others. Ok, so for me personally, 15 minutes of gambling is better than 15 minutes of Vipassana Meditation, in terms of relaxation.

Your topic is called "Leave gambling, if it destroys you.", and I absolutely agree with this statement, people must quit gambling if it destroys their lives. But there are people, myself included, for whom gambling is one of the best forms of relaxation, it's just the way it is, you know. Gambling not only doesn't destroy our lives, but we(not everyone, but people like me) find it very helpful.

I'm sure, actually these three things are enough to make someone stop gambling, but it goes back to each individual because everyone has a different level of control.  I personally can not really stop gambling, I am only able to reduce the intensity of my gambling, and currently I only gamble when my mood arises (sports betting) and sometimes just for to fill in the free time (light gambling).

It doesn't matter if you cannot really stop gambling, as long as you can know when to stop or reduce the intensity to play gambling, you don't have to worry. For me, number 2, 6 and 7 should be in one subject. They all focus on your mindset. If you know your intention of gambling you know when to stop, you won't be greedy, you will not be emotional as you can control yourself. Even if your pessimistic or optimistic, if your mindset is just to gamble for fun, you would stay there.

Number two is quite interesting. Guess you are trying to suggest that gambling addict got their habits from gangsters or mafia. Well, that probably depends on the kind of gambling. And gangsters videos are probably where they mostly learn the habit from. I don't think this is totally the case though. I tend to believe that people who gamble regularly without being profitable are gambling addicts.  "Enjoying" gambling (without being profitable) can lead to addiction or can be considered an addiction. .

Reasoning about profit is quite controversial in this situation. Indeed, even if a person loses money, then in return he receives adrenaline and relaxation/stress relief. It is possible that this is an equivalent fair exchange (if we are talking about reasonable expenses).

Indeed, the seven elements should be realized if you want to stop gambling, but in reality every gambler does not want to realize that even though he knows or is aware of it. Life that is ruined by gambling and does not want to stop gambling is a disease, because they continue to be greedy and never realize the slightest good around them, such as spending more time with family and other things that can actually make them stop or maybe take a break from gambling habits, because reducing gambling habits can also make you have a wiser mindset to have top priority for a healthier life.
