still one of the safest coin in the market for trade sometimes even to predictable in my opinion i must say
After people realise they have been cheated with ico investments they will return to more secure BTC and LTC. To be honest i'm expecting this price again>
litecoin performed worst in last 2 years, I wish litecoin will do good this year with bitcoin and hit 0.025btc per ltc again
Holding certain number just in case.
I cannot say when this will happen , predictions are ungrateful job!

I'm also in ( cloak, super, monero, droidz, geocoin. But this is offtopic.)

I still use litecoin for trades now and then seems easier and cheaper to trade though litecoin at times.

Yes you can move your BTC (or small portion) easier and quicker if you buy LTC and then transfer LTC to new exchange and sell there. This way you will pay smaller fee and you if done properly you can also earn some small sweet money.
This is not only manageable with LTC, but LTC have good volume (and you are safe from sudden price movement) on every exchange.

I like Bitcoin; but, at the time of posting 20273 unconfirmed transactions demonstrates why with four times the number of transactions Litecoin is so attractive.

https://blockchain.info/en/unconfirmed-transactions

Edit: Wonder if adding anti-spam somewhat like litecoin did several years back would help.

The fact that so many blocks are not full indicates the problem isn't the blocksize or how fast the blocks happen.

Those transactions are unconfirmed for other reasons. My suspicion is a lot of them are faucet payouts that are tiny in size and tiny in fee, and spam transactions with no or tiny fee.

This was abandoned because although a lot of people agree 10 minutes is too long. One minute is considered dangerously short. Somewhere in between seems to be optimal. Two and one-half minutes seems to have worked quite well and can be considered ideal. There are multiple examples of failed coins where block creation of less than a minute have demonstrated the wisdom of keeping 2.5 minute creation.
I didn't understand this how and why is this very dangerous? Many altcoins have short block time.

Blackcoin  https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ann-blacknet-ibo-for-blackcoin-new-code-pos-no-ico-469640
 Block time: 64 seconds   pow+pos

Cloakcoin  http://forum.cloakcoin.com/
Block time: 60 seconds   pow +pos

Monero  https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/xmr-monero-a-secure-private-untraceable-cryptocurrency-583449
 Block time: 60 seconds   pow!

They all have shorter block time then LTC  and thay don't have any problems as i can see.

Please google and read about propagation delay on a decentralized network. Some even though litecoin was to aggressive; but, the math and time demonstrates it's just about right. Remember that block size varies with the number of transactions and the coins you mention generally send near empty blocks (small in size).

It does not seem to be a very good hedge against any currency, nor can I spend them anywhere.

What utility does it offer? What does it have that makes it desirable ?

I do hope we get some alt coins that actually offer utility that warrants their use, but I don't see it in litecoin.

Faster confirmation time doesn't matter, most businesses that accept crypto accept bitcoin with 0 confirmations and don't get ripped off.

That is my concern as well. There is not much new features in litecoin to make people think it is a unique currency.

I think it is sad that litecoin is probably dying, it started out with enough differences from bitcoin to make it interesting but now it doesn't have enough compelling differences and unfortunately it was unable to gain enough momentum in the beginning to survive once those differences were no longer compelling.
Wrong!

LTC have already just enough momentum and support to stay in top 5.
This is still good if you expecting BTC to rise, you will probably see and LTC rocket (LTC/$)!
LTC is not IPO, ICO scam, to vanish overnight. Ups and downs are normal thing in crypto world.
My advice - Better invest in real coins with miners support.
You will get burn by ico scams.

Yeah i think Litecoin will be still until in the future and i think doge and ltc has the same long life..
The price is not so good but honestly if we use litecoin as secondary of bitcoin it will increase more.is just my opinion..

Not dead because:

  • Capable of four times as many transactions as Bitcoin in a ten minute period. Frankly if payment processors had adopted Litecoin in the past year current Bitcoin block discussions would be irrelevant (and likely the price of both coins higher). Anyone who has watched these discussions understands the immediate advantage of a network with larger transactional capability.
  • Faster confirmation times. The only people who don't think this is important have never spent a single coin or they have patience that the average person does not possess.
  • The faster block time of litecoin reduces the risk of double spending attacks.
  • Anti-spam.
  • Fast well established network. Current Hashrate is 1,643 GH/s. Since scrypt is memory intensive it is known to be approximately 1000 times slower hardware wise in comparison to SHA256. Fair comparison to the Bitcoin network requires multiplying that hashrate by 1000 (1,643 TH/s). The fact is for most of Litecoins history the hashrate has been relatively high and secure. Those comparing it to the Bitcoin network without considering this 1k factor are either being disingenuous or just ignorant of the facts.
  • Continuous development look here at number of releases in past year: https://github.com/litecoin-project/litecoin/releases
  • Upcoming new features currently being developed look here for whats happening in 2016:
    https://www.reddit.com/r/litecoin/comments/3z2ta1/ama_official_litecoin_developers_and_litecoin/
  • Longevity. Many coins have temporarily eclipsed litecoin as they were marketed for the purpose of increasing the fiat accounts of a small group and emptying the accounts of new users. Unfortunately this has been detrimental to crypto-space in general.
  • Great community.
  • Fully supported by GoCoin a growing payment processor used by thousands of merchants https://www.gocoin.com/
  • Liquidity. You can sell thousands and not crash the market. Maintains value.

I agree with all the above except for the fast block time. Too  fast block time means more orphan blocks.

I do not agree with the above, it is full of ignorance.

Faster block time only reduces odds of double spend by race attack, and even there I'm not sure it really does.

Faster block time makes it easier to pull off the many types of double spend attacks that involve mining a block. The faster block time reduces difficulty giving more opportunity and reduces the value of the block reward making it less risky to attempt double spend attacks that involve mining a block.

I think it is sad that litecoin is probably dying, it started out with enough differences from bitcoin to make it interesting but now it doesn't have enough compelling differences and unfortunately it was unable to gain enough momentum in the beginning to survive once those differences were no longer compelling.

Litecoin is dead. RIP LTC.

Litecoin is still the fourth largest cryptocurrency. If there is some innovation with this, it is even better.

China lags behind by about a year.  LTC will be bagholder central.

It was weird. You disappeared during that 5 day spat when ethereum shed half of its marketcap. Glad to you see you made it back.
