Litecoin is dead. RIP LTC.
Please enlighten me and give me references, on what basis did you conclude this?
I love those inline posts! More like merging of spam with trolling.
Don't underestimate China market, they love LTC!

This was abandoned because although a lot of people agree 10 minutes is too long. One minute is considered dangerously short. Somewhere in between seems to be optimal. Two and one-half minutes seems to have worked quite well and can be considered ideal. There are multiple examples of failed coins where block creation of less than a minute have demonstrated the wisdom of keeping 2.5 minute creation.
I didn't understand this how and why is this very dangerous? Many altcoins have short block time.

Blackcoin  https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/ann-blacknet-ibo-for-blackcoin-new-code-pos-no-ico-469640
 Block time: 64 seconds   pow+pos

Cloakcoin  http://forum.cloakcoin.com/
Block time: 60 seconds   pow +pos

Monero  https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/xmr-monero-a-secure-private-untraceable-cryptocurrency-583449
 Block time: 60 seconds   pow!

They all have shorter block time then LTC  and thay don't have any problems as i can see.

I do not know why some one can even have a thought that Litecoin is dead.

Its always in TOP 10 currencies and many of us are holding it right from getting introduced to Crypto currency

The developers are too good and i am sure it will remain in TOP 10 currencies forever Smiley

basically LTC is one of the originals so he will maintain in long term always is good for investment

I agree with all the above except for the fast block time. Too  fast block time means more orphan blocks.

Just so anyone who doesn't understand what an orphaned block means:

Even though the odds are so high to solve a block, there is a potential for two clients (miners) to submit a winning share at the same time. When this happens, the network chooses the definitive winner. The loser's block is then orphaned from the blockchain and declared invalid. Invalid blocks are a rare occurrence, but it does happen (even daily with bitcoin).

So basically orphaned blocks are primarily the problem of miners who solve a block; but, their block is not chosen by the network as the winner and as a result they do not get paid. All decentralized coins have orphans and the rate increases proportionally to speed of block production.

In general this is thought of not being a problem and one of the solutions proposed (and abandoned) to increase capacity of the bitcoin network was to increase block production to once a minute.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/35hpkt/please_remind_me_once_again_why_we_cant_decrease/cr4wk0g

Ultimately the increase capacity of the network and over all convenience of Litecoin outweighs this issue.

Not dead because:

  • Capable of four times as many transactions as Bitcoin in a ten minute period. Frankly if payment processors had adopted Litecoin in the past year current Bitcoin block discussions would be irrelevant (and likely the price of both coins higher). Anyone who has watched these discussions understands the immediate advantage of a network with larger transactional capability.
  • Faster confirmation times. The only people who don't think this is important have never spent a single coin or they have patience that the average person does not possess.
  • The faster block time of litecoin reduces the risk of double spending attacks.
  • Anti-spam.
  • Fast well established network. Current Hashrate is 1,643 GH/s. Since scrypt is memory intensive it is known to be approximately 1000 times slower hardware wise in comparison to SHA256. Fair comparison to the Bitcoin network requires multiplying that hashrate by 1000 (1,643 TH/s). The fact is for most of Litecoins history the hashrate has been relatively high and secure. Those comparing it to the Bitcoin network without considering this 1k factor are either being disingenuous or just ignorant of the facts.
  • Continuous development look here at number of releases in past year: https://github.com/litecoin-project/litecoin/releases
  • Upcoming new features currently being developed look here for whats happening in 2016:
    https://www.reddit.com/r/litecoin/comments/3z2ta1/ama_official_litecoin_developers_and_litecoin/
  • Longevity. Many coins have temporarily eclipsed litecoin as they were marketed for the purpose of increasing the fiat accounts of a small group and emptying the accounts of new users. Unfortunately this has been detrimental to crypto-space in general.
  • Great community.
  • Fully supported by GoCoin a growing payment processor used by thousands of merchants https://www.gocoin.com/
  • Liquidity. You can sell thousands and not crash the market. Maintains value.

I agree with all the above except for the fast block time. Too  fast block time means more orphan blocks.

I have some litcoin, in fact, it is my largest holding of altcoin. My main concern is that it does not develop.

Litecoin aimed low and failed "silver to bitcoins gold"

Why did you build a currency specifically to worth less than a competitor?

Why aim low?

Litecoin is now no.4 crypto and will continue to fall as it's now "just another altcoin"

Quickly dump it before ending up as bagholders for chinese whales.

Hopefully litecoin price will rise in the next few months, litecoin price have been dropping too much, I might consider switching to other coins Sad

Don't lose hope every coin has its ups and downs. And also, it would be be better to diversify your investments not just concentrate on a single coin.

If the litecoin keeps on developing some new features, it might become a big one. But it is not doing that.

I agree. That's why until now I have been accumulating loaded litecoins from pre 2013. Figure with the price so low per coin now the risk is small while  the reward remains an unknown.

Many my friends are not even concerned  for price of LTC. Don't syncing their wallets and just waiting for better days .
Maybe they are right, just forget it for some time maybe few years. And we will see what can happen.

I strongly advise you not to diversify your crypto holdings beyond LTC and BTC!
The other coins have no liquidity, and are usually scams or at least very shade.

Yeah, sometimes, if your timing is 101% correct and you happen to trade on an exchange that has just enough liquidity, you are able to make a small profit.

But most of the time you would be wasting your money, or entrusting your btc/ltc to shady businesses, like Poloniex, which is an exchange that operates from a shed.

Stick with LTC and BTC. Don't be too greedy. The returns provided by these 2 great coins are HUGE. You just need to have patience.

As you like to bash poloniex .... tell me more about where btc-e operates... and who operates it ?

BTC-e is operated by highly skilled people who care about the privacy of their customers.
BTC-e is, furthermore, the longest standing Bitcoin exchange in the world and has a great reputation because of their trustworthiness, great liquidity, high volume.

Trustworthiness has little to do with whether an exchange is anonymous or not. It has, however, everything to do with the reputation they have, the years they've been in business, and the options (e.g. cashing out, funding account, etc.) they offer. BTC-e is, therefore, one of the best Bitcoin exchanges available.

Don't even compare it to shit exchange POOloniex that operates from a shed and has FAKE volume. Most of their volume is related to IPO COIN Ehtereum!
