Wow! 5 blocks today! Another great day  Grin

Yeah, another good day at Kano. Can't beat the pool luck most of the time even with the lowered pool hash rate. It makes my block % smile with the low pool hash!

I wish it would hurry up and get cold around here. We had a few days of low temps, but this next week is gonna be in the high 70's (F) to low 80's. No rain in sight thankfully - but we are in a draught and need the rain - but I'm just being selfish to keep my windows open....
When it finally gets and stays cold, I'm going to fire up one of my S7's in the dinning room to add another ~4.5TH to the pool and heat the den at the same time. Might be hitting ~55TH on the pool steady. I only have one extra power supply - an EVGA 1600.  Shocked  Cool Shocked Cool Shocked Cool

I tossed a fourth blade yesterday.

So I am still waiting for a replacement for the blade I sent in to bitmainwarranty on OCT 4th they acknowledge receipt on Oct 6th.

Really? 20days? I sure hope for a much faster response. One blade down out of 6 so far (after about 58-60days).

off topic but it is fixed and at least as much my fault as their fault.

I posted a full explanation here:

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.16704183

so in a few days those parts will get back to me.

and I will then send in a fourth board. Wink

It's been a nice month for blocks here on Kano. I'm mining to cash out monthly and send the $ back to my checking account. Last month I was able to cash in 1.5 coins with Coinbase for right at $900 after fees. Looks like when I cash in this month - either tomorrow or Saturday - I'll have another ~1.5 coins for ~$1,000. Of course about $450 of that will go to pay the electric bill, but still, a nice profit to make my bank account happier.

Keep on keeping on, boys and girls! Smiley Let's get rid of that 250-block red. It really messes up the stats!  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

0515 here...French press time...and blocks to book. Good way to start a Thursday.

EDIT: I hear ya, Phil. Seeing a viable option out of Canaan (I'm not even remotely aware of anyone else who could come up with a competitive ASIC right now) is the only focus, unless you're into alt stuff. I'm not...though even if I would...I've got several mongo GPUs sitting around...but don't have amps to run them anyway in addition to the two A6s (well, one A6 and three old S3s...the one A6 is still down).

More coffee.

Offtopic - my question to "organofcorti"...
Its not always, I see pioneer members like "organofcorti" commenting on a "small topic" like this one on "S9 bad luck" Cheesy; I would like his comment and long term outlook, on the lack of mining equipment and monopoly of a single vendor in this industry. Recently, my investors and I, frustrated with Bitmain and sub-par S9s, we forgo buying more S9s, and invested in more GPU rigs for ETH and ZEC mining. I forsee that this is going be a key sanity check for miners in general. What is your opinion?

Thanks

citronick

Mining luck is never off topic on this board, and it's not a small topic. In fact (as long term miners will tell you) it's a bit of a hobby horse for me, dating back to the 2011 (unfounded) accusations of malfeasance against BTC Guild after a period of bad luck on that pool. I've written a little introduction to mining luck here: http://organofcorti.blogspot.com/2015/07/faq-bitcoin-mining-and-luck-statistic.html

As for your actual (and offtopic) question, my opinion (and it's just that) is that rather than miners moving to altcoins, a market leader in btc mining equipment that creates a poor product and provides no recompense to customers is likely to provide fertile soil for the entry of a new manufacturer of btc mining equipment.

I tossed a fourth blade yesterday.

So I am still waiting for a replacement for the blade I sent in to bitmainwarranty on OCT 4th they acknowledge receipt on Oct 6th.

That blade is out of warranty and I was willing to pay to repair it.

The blade I tossed is out of warranty.  So how do I send it in when it is 21 days on the last blade.

So I am down 2 blades .

While this is off topic the s9 is the only viable miner at this moment.

So I will mine with the solar array we are now using 18 amps.  we have  72 amps available.
Options are add more (blank coin) gpus.  or hold my 20+ coins  and wait for a new company to add miners.

So far the holding is not painful  as we are near 700 usd.

And  so far BTC has hung in the game as the leader  coin despite Bitmaintech's  s9 monopoly.

I am hoping for coins to soon go to 800 usd.  my 20btc  will be over  16k  which is better then mining.

I moved my S9's as well. Although there isn't any hard proof that S9's don't do as well on Kano, I didn't want to drag the pool down. I'd much rather bring my 300th back
And many thanks to you too kind sir, for being a stand up citizen of Kano CKPool and putting the good of the pool ahead of yourself.  Now c'mon back...you also belong here my friend.

After the low luck in October I got an affair with Slush and missed out on all the green block... Will humbly bring the miner back tomorrow ready for Block Friday
October ... well ... maybe August?

October was an early run of very good luck until the 12th (40 block 115% luck)
It went down hill after that for the next 9 blocks (to 49 blocks 93% luck)
But fortunately undid all that and more (as you can see now) ... so far ...

I guess the thing to remember is that luck changes every block, so unless you think there's actually something wrong with the pool, changing pools wont change your expected luck, since luck isn't affected by what came before ... (again, unless there's a problem with the pool)

I will, however, add a comment I've made before that people should of course know:
Luck doesn't correct itself by design, only by accident.
You always expect even luck, never more or less, and over time that means bad (or good) luck converges to even luck.
The fact that we so often (but not always) correct bad luck streaks quickly with good luck, isn't what is expected, it's simply 'good luck' to do that Smiley

Edit: actually September is worth looking at to see how fickle luck can be Smiley
Up until before the 715% block, the luck for September was: 105 blocks 102% luck - so ahead of the game.
That one 715% block of course dragged that down to 96.6% luck for 106 blocks
The rest of the month, 4 blocks, 100.1% luck made it only trickle a little closer to 100% - month total 110 blocks 96.73%
But really, considering there was our largest diff% block of ALL TIME in September, we still managed 96.73% luck - and 98.67% PPS - better than any PPS Pool that has a fee of 1.5% or more ... Smiley
