The Cavaliers are really making headlines with their win streak… looks like they’re on a roll! I wonder if they can actually break the Warriors’ record of 24-0. If I remember right, the Warriors went on to win the championship that season, so if Cleveland pulls this off, they might have a real shot at the title, too. They’re not even in the top 5 in the NBA futures betting, so the odds must be high, which means lucky for anyone who bet on them early in NBA futures.
Their next 5 games aren't that hard because they will be facing Chicago twice, the Sixers, the Hornets, and the defending champions, Celtics . That would be the deciding factor on whether the Cavaliers can be a title contender this season if they manage to defeat the Celtics. On their game against Brooklyn, they are down 12 points coming to the 4th quarter, but they somehow manage to outscore their opponent 35-18 to make a comeback and win.
As for the betting, the more wins they get, the odds will be decreased over time. Still, I don't think that they can be a title contender this season. Not being pessimistic, but I'm rooting for the Celtics for a back-to-back.
It's too early to tell though. Looking at the Cavs' performance early this season, I think they are a serious playoff contender team. Again, that's just based on how they were playing in the last 11 games. Most of their games is either a complete blowout, or at least they lead double digits at some point and still managed to get the W even if the opponent brought the lead closer to their potential defeat.
About the 24-0 record, again, it's still too early to tell. Though, it's really hard to pull that one off, but their next 13-14 games are against weaker team. The only legit contender they'll be facing in the next 14 games are the Celtics (like you said) and the Nuggets, the rest could be easier.
