A professional boxer won't take his opponent as something that he can ignore and be comfortable with. Boxing is like any other sports that with just a simple and single mistake, the whole game can turn around.

They can tell such words to make them look better and increase their courage but inside of them it's about the focus that they are giving to their training and they know that they shouldn't treat their opponent as an underdog.

Tell that to Anthony Joshua. He feels comfortable of beating Andy Ruiz, just a replacement, too fat, and slow and look what happen to him. Upset of the year and now his big fight schedule is ruin. Or even to Mike Tyson, who was KO was Buster Douglas because he didn't train enough because he thinks he is invincible and felt comfortable as well.

You are right, he knows his body more than anyone else and all we could do as his followers is to speculate on what could happen in his fight. But the way i see it, Manny maybe older than Thurman but speedwise he is faster than Thurman either.

Every opponent is dangerous for Pacman, specially that he is no longer the same fighter, past his prime but can still pull the trigger even at 40 years old. Keith Thurman is young and aggressive, but knowing Pacman's strength's, this might be a really good and explosive fight and can go to the judges score card. But I'm sure those two will bang each other for the whole 12 rounds. Thurman is very dangerous in the early rounds, but if Pacman can survived, his experience will take over and make squeeze a unanimous or split decision.

Basically even just seeing on the stats we can really tell the difference between boxers.Manny might old but the power is still there but still not an assurance for a sure win.
We might not know if Thurman do have something on his sleeve to take Pacquiao down.The fight is fast approaching but this one doesnt really excite me much no matter

Yes, I agree that age is one of the major factors of a boxer because you need to know if you're speed, strength, endurance, techniques, cognitive flexibility and more is still good especially if you are fighting against 10 years younger than you and also good at fighting( age is just a number Grin

). But like you said only trust him he knows better about his conditions.

If you saw the Pacman vs Broner fight, when Pacman was interviewed right after his declaration as a winner, mayweather was ask if he will agree with the rematch, but he has no answer, no reaction at all but Pacman answered he is willing to fight mayweather if Mayweather will come back in boxing.
