The transaction fees are definitely the biggest hurdle to overcome for companies like this to start accepting bitcoin as a payment method. I've heard other companies talk about that as an issue as well. I think Steam recently stopped accepting bitcoins because the transaction fees were often as much as the actual cost of the game you were buying, and they didn't want to have to deal with all the customer service issues that come with that.

It can seen good but with these transaction fees and waiting times its almost impossible to use that kind of transactions.
Lol! was also thinking the same. as we all know Mc Donalds are always full of hungry people falling in line on the counter, and if the transaction time takes long i wonder if people will still wait and not grumble because they are already hungry. well, goodluck to Mc Donalds then.

this is really a good new that mcdonalds will start to accept bitcoin in the following year a whole lot of people will ask what is bitcoin and why is mcdonald accepting it? curiosity is really one of the key to market something to the people plus mcdonalds is a global popular fast food chain that is known by many ages and having an alternative payment will really affect bitcoins popularity

this news remember me someone on 2010 Purchaced a pizza with  10,000 Bitcoins:

This is a fable for the Bitcoin bubble (or not?) that we're living through this year. Back in 2010, Florida programmer Laszlo Hanyecz talked someone into accepting the 10,000 Bitcoins he'd "mined" on his computer in exchange for two pizzas.

“It wasn’t like Bitcoins had any value back then, so the idea of trading them for a pizza was incredibly cool,” Mr. Hanyecz told the New York Times recently.

In those distant days before twerking went mainstream, Hanyecz estimated that each Bitcoin his computer had earned through basically crunching numbers was worth a fraction of a cent, like the cash value of a coupon you might receive in the mail, only much less.

McDonald's operates 36,899 restaurants worldwide, and not to mention those customers that buy their products everyday. I think it is not practical to buy their products using bitcoin if transaction fee is so high not to mention that it takes hours to confirm when there is a traffic in the system.

Does that even make sense with the current transaction times and fees? You are going to pay more for the fees than for your meal. Unless the fees go down drastically, it makes no sense to use bitcoin as a daily payment method.

Peeps now view and use Bitcoin as a store of value, and its an investor's dream since its volatility has caused its price to rise sharply.

But as a payment system, Bitcoin is straight bawls, and there are core issues which are stopping its growth in this direction. Bitcoin's scalability is being hampered because it is too slow and expensive relative to more conventional payment processing systems.

this quote about sums up why this wil never work, until we actually scale instead of forking needlessly:

Quote
Looking deeper into the information, the analysts also examined transaction speeds. They developed a wait period average of about 10 minutes to the 300,000 transactions per day.

“Assuming 20,000 retail trades are processed each second, it would take about 100 minutes for one minute's worth of transactions to be processed to the Bitcoin Blockchain,” the analysts said.

So yeah  Grin

If somehow they can make it happen, and the transaction fee and speed will be good, then it will be a huge step in making bitcoin a worldwide used currency.

A big problem for this is the commission. Because of the huge commission, people are unlikely to make purchases for such small amounts that they could eat in McDonald's. Therefore I think that it will not be possible to introduce this method of payment in fast food.
There's cards that allow people to spend Bitcoins using them to purchase things like Mcdonalds. I don't know why Bitcoin payments would be any more important.

Soon every store and restaurant will accept payment in bitcoins, perhaps you will see it next year in your city. This process can not be stopped, friends. Cheesy

Oh it can be stopped, stopped by fees and queue

McDonalds has 68 million customers/day, bitcoin is doing 400 000 transaction.
Let add DDonuts,Domino,KFC, Burger King, Subway...and they are scoring over 50 millions orders only in the US.
The entire chain hold only 1% of that capacity.

Would they add this knowing they can only offer this option to 1% of they customers? (speaking only on behalf of the us).
And we;re talking only about fast food, and only us not all the restaurant worldwide.

But again let me remind you

This is a clickbait topic with fake news

It will be interesting, if it is really so, but that's just how many people will pay a constantly expensive bitcoin in McDonald's - it's not clear.
Indeed it is not gonna be use for it but it is just our thinking. A lot of people who use bitcoin even for the daily use and shopping with bitcoin so this year they are gonna have this great news, in last year 2016 bitcoin was been use in a lot of local restaurants and hotels and it made bitcoin price so high so now this coming year will make new thing for the bitcoin users and it will increase bitcoin value more and more.

Why would people spend their bitcoins in a meal if in a couple of days the same bitcoins could be 20 or 30% more valuable in dollar?

I think the price must be more stable for people to pay trivial things in bitcoins. Also fees must be smaller.

i think its more likely mcdonalds will accept litecoin than bitcoin, why should someone accept a cryptocurrency with such high transaction costs? you cant pay workers with it, so good luck

I wish they will accept other altcoins too. I dont think i will use by bitcoin in paying lunch or dinner in Mc. Donald’s. I would prefer to pay with altcoins and spare my bitcoin for savings or more important matters. Besides, Mc Donald’s doesnt cost that much so better pay with cash or cards and alts.

Good and would be effective if numerous eateries acknowledge installment by utilizing BTC including McDonalds. perhaps if the installments with BTC in McDonalds can be effective will be much in impersonation by other sustenance organizations or eateries.

If McDonald's accept bitcoin by next year, that could an awesome thing to look forward because other fast food restaurants may do the same in the future. This could be also a good opportunity for bitcoin to grow wider since people will use it and the demand of bitcoin will also increase. As bitcoin's demand will increase, its value too will increase until the hope for bitcoin to be the future can happen as a currency of the future.
