Guys, do anyone have problem with connection closed by server error.

Miner just stops working. Is there any kind of a script to automaticly reboot the rig?

Just wanted to drop in and say how happy I am with SMOS. Wink

Here's a brief recap of my experience that I think is worth sharing in case someone else falls into the same pattern and can learn from my mistake:

I installed SMOS on 3 rigs and ran it for a few days. Everything ran well and I should have been happy with that. But, I wanted to mine some exotic altcoins and thought that switching over to another OS would give me more options since it had more miners integrated into the platform. It also had more features or bells-and-whistles and so I decided to switch over. Everything seemed great for a few hours (until night time) and then I started having issues. Issues that lasted for nearly 2 weeks that cost me a lot of sleep and time wasted on troubleshooting my hardware when there was nothing wrong with it.

First, I was dealing with security issues for an entire week where my rigs would mine to someone else's address in Amsterdam every morning at 2AM. Next, I spent over a week dealing with network issues where my rigs would randomly fall off-line and then never reconnect. Then I spent more than a week dealing with a rig that would periodically drop to 50% of it's total hashrate and stay there until I rebooted it. Of course, it took about 5-10 reboots before the network connection was re-established.

So, after losing a lot of sleep over the past few weeks with using another OS that appeared to have more features and mining options, etc... I decided to switch back to SMOS and I've had three solid days of great performance. My quality of life has greatly improved since switching over to SMOS because I'm able to step away from my rigs and sleep comfortably which has made me a very happy miner.

In hindsight, I wish I could've been content with a sold-working OS because it would have saved me a lot of time and money. But, I feel that I learned an important lesson and that is; stability is more important than fancy features when it comes to mining.

Hey guys how does this software handle virtual mem requirements?  For some algos and miners I need to add 60GB sometimes even 90GB virtual mem in windows for it to work, would that be the same on this?  For example using 8 card 1080ti rigs.  Rigs have 4GB-8GB ram.  Just wondering what size flash drives I need to buy, would be awesome if I could get away with small ones like 16-32GB.  I want to leave the SSDs on the rigs alone with windows on them in case I need to use custom miners for special coins on quick notice.

Hello.

Could You help me configure Claymore for Simplemining for this pool ?

Code:
setx GPU_FORCE_64BIT_PTR 0
  setx GPU_MAX_HEAP_SIZE 100
  setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
  setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
  setx GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
  EthDcrMiner64.exe -epool stratum+tcp://etp.dodopool.com:8008 -ewal Wallety -eworker rig1 -epsw x -ftime 10 -allcoins 1 --mode 1

Claymore in SImplemining defaul is here:
Code:
Default config: -wd 1 -r 1 -epool stratum+tcp://eth-eu.dwarfpool.com:8008 -ewal $walletETH/$rigName -esm 0 -epsw x -allpools 1 -asm 1 -mport 127.0.0.1:3333

Guys, I need some help as I am troubleshooting this issue for the last few days.

I have 4 x 13 GPUs rigs (GTX 1080Ti on Asrock H110 Pro Btc+ ), but none of them would boot with all cards connected, but as soon as I try disonnecting 1 card and boot boot with 12 cards all rigs can boot and start minining without a problem, stable 24h, no restarts.

I can replicate the same behaviour across all 4 rigs. I can mine on Win10 (dstm and NiceHash), HiveOS with all 13 cards, so risers are fine and I have enough PSU juice (running 4 x 1080Ti on 1400W PSUs).

When booting with 13 cards, every time I get this error http://shrani.si/f/2K/3/36xjpO7K/img8269.jpg

I have tried all different combinations is Bios (Gen 1, Gen 2, disabling all peripherals) to no avail. At the moment I am running with 4 x 12 cards and I made another rig of 4 cards. I would really like to get SMOS going with 13 GPU.

The SMOS is loaded on 32GB Lexar USB3 sticks. Could that have any connections to my problems, should I try running it from SSD?

that captcha is much better thank you.  makes a big difference for mobile use.
let us know when you add the updated ccminers.  will use windows until then, need it for coin.
Thanks

The ccminer is beeing one of my highest priorities now.

Any love for the new ethminer?  Wink

Ethminer 0.14 has already released but we have only 0.11 in SMOS. Please update it. It is without dev fee and since dual mining is almost dead , I don't want to pay any dev fee.

I made a script to fix OC/fanspeed with 1070/1080 cards.

You need to set a very high memory offset in order for it to take effect. This is due to 1070/1080 cards not entering the highest power state (P3) when running compute instructions.

By setting a high offset, you skew the memory boost range for P2 to a higher level, just not as high as the offset should, as the card won't enter P3.

You can see in the example, my clock offsets for a Zotac GTX 1080 Mini.
These result in 2025 Core, 5514 Memory
Power Level set at 217W (max for this card)

Code:

X :0 &
sleep 5
export DISPLAY=:0
nvidia-settings -a "[gpu:0]/GPUFanControlState=1" -a "[fan:0]/GPUTargetFanSpeed=100" -a "[gpu:0]/GPUGraphicsClockOffset[3]=175" -a "[gpu:0]/GPUMemoryTransferRateOffset[3]=2000"
sudo nvidia-smi -pm 1
sudo nvidia-smi -i 0 -pl 217
nvidia-settings -a [gpu:0]/GPUPowerMizerMode=2

I posted this on the SMOS subreddit to help people out with a quick fix.

My OC was working, but fanspeed was not. When I fixed fanspeed from the command line, OC stopped working. So I made this.

tytanick,

Have you made any changes to miners/SMOS in last 24 hours? I have started to get reboots on one of my rigs and these huge hashrate swings which I did not have before. My hashrate is 9500 sol/s, but on pool now it swings like mad. My average hashare on pool also has dropped as you can see.

https://i.imgur.com/b8Dw4PI.jpg

I have exactly the same problem as you.

My rigs started tro be very unstable but since around 1 week.

see below (its not all my farm but all do the same cash number)

https://ibb.co/j6RVLx

All my farm are running well since 2-3 month on smos and since few days all are unstable.

Also the reported hashrate on the smos panel is sometime not correct.. I see 1.5mhs instead of 170+mhs but on the pool the report is correct....

see here
https://ibb.co/jMepDH

Idk whats wrong and I dont know what to do ....
@tytanick, I can give you my email in PM but I have already sent an email to you...

I tested also to remove OC on like 5-10 rigs and they had all the same restart count as the one OC.

I see tons of requests for new miners and other improvements, which are important but I'd like to see alerting added.  You can have all of the miners versions in the world, but if they go offline or are having other issues how do you know?  Certainly having an SSR would help.  That's not always possible.  I like SMOS, but when comparing to HIVE OS, SMOS is missing some important functionality.

Perhaps if a roadmap was outlined.  That way we can know various features and functionality as well as when they may be coming or at the very least their priorities.

Thanx!

Hello again,

I recived the SRR v2 and I msut say the delivery was super fast to Estonia.
I got 7 cables instead of ordered 6 pcs. If you wish me to compensate, please give details how to Smiley

I encountered a few problems.
1) My MOBO is Asus prime Z270-P and there is no "pwr button + -" pins. Please see image:
 https://image.ibb.co/gBaUfx/20180227_212659_1.jpg

I Tried to use PWR-SW since the original power button was connected there, but no luck. SRR doesnt see the rig.

Moreover, when launching the SRR, under windows I can see the device but get the following error: "Error while getting info from device"

Please advise how to troubleshoot.

When can we expect more miners to be added to SMOS, like lyra, skein etc?

current ccminer can already do all that, but ccminer-alexis fork best for skein, and latest ccminer should be updated to get the best for the other algos.

Hi,

Please provide feedback on the DAGfix. Running 6x rx580 rig on SMOS and supposedly the DAGfix can be flashed on the riglist, but I don't see such option:

OS Version shows RX 1146
Thanks.

I'll bump  the issue above - please provide feedback.
After the update to version RX 1147, the status is same.

power consumption : Tytanick, settings below 900mV seem not to work on RX570/580 cards I have here (Sapphire Nitro, Pulse). Didn't try any else.

With SMOS, the lowest consumption I can achieve is ~150W at wall.  Asus Prime H270-Plus with January2018 BIOS, CPU G4560, 4GB RAM, single RX580 Sapphire Nitro at this moment but I tested with different cards up to 7 installed, 240V Europe, Corsair TX-850M (should be about 89.5% effective at this load). GPU 1000MHz, VMEM 1900MHz, underclocked BIOS.

MB+CPU+RAM consume 35W idle in Windows and SMOS without any GPU installed  - 35W measured at wall [!] after power supply ineffectivity etc.  With single GPU installed but not mining, Windows consumes about 47W ; SMOS 65W. Windows configured with High Performance profile, no CPU savings, no PCI-e savings in BIOS.

GPU Voltage set in web interface  |  Consumption at wall with SMOS

1100mV   180W
1000mV   170W
900mV   153W
850mV     153W
800mV   153W
750mV     153W

I feel it does NOT work as it should.

Powerstage 0      153W
Powerstage 1      153W
Powerstage 2      153W
Powerstage 3      153W
Powerstage 4      153W
Powerstage 5      153W
Powerstage 6      153W

Powerstage setting has absolutely no effect on power consumption at all. All these tests conducted with 1000MHz GPU, 1900MHz VMEM, 27.2MH/s. This particular card maxes out at 1950MHz memories no matter what voltage I apply, it's a crap.

I know PowerStage settings work in different settings and scenarios - I'm running some rigs with 1100MHz GPUs, 2000+MHz VMEMs and there is big difference in power consumption between PS6 and PS2. Generally I'm using PowerStage2 almost everywhere because PS1 and PS0 do NOT bring any decrease in real consumption / temperatures and everything above PS2 is heavily increasing power consumption.  Because I'm totally stable at PS2, that's what I use ; difference in power consumption between PS6 and PS2 is about 400 Watts with each [!] rig I have.

Here, in this particular case, PowerStage has totally no influence on power consumption.

GPU voltage settings BELOW 900mV  DO NOT have any effect on total consumption in SMOS, while they work in Windows. Decreasing GPU and VMEM in ATI WattMan (newest drivers, Adrenaline v18.2.3 dated 22/Febr/2018) below 900mV works correctly in Windows, HWINFO64 and GPU-Z report lower voltages for both memory and GPU and it is reflected on real wattage measured at wall.  I can get to 750mV GPU and VMEM with 120W total rig consumption at wall and yes, it's stable at 1000/1900MHz.

Lowest I'm able to achieve with SMOS is 152-153W.  I've tried so much...

So, the effective delta in power consumption between Windows and SMOS can be 20 Watts per card.  With 10 card rig, that is 200 Watts which really is a lot, especially if you have 10+ rigs.  Will you please look into this ? Any diagnostic output you need ? I can give you SSH access if needed.

And it's not just about power consumption - it's about temperatures, too. Of course Windows10 runs these cards cooler, because it is able to use lower voltage.

I even tried to lower voltages in BIOS, programming 850 (manual) or 65282 even 65281 in appropriate frequencies. Makes no difference in both Windows and SMOS.
Measurements in Windows taken with lowest voltage set as 65282 in BIOS. I'm not saying this is equivalent of 750mV, I'm saying power management in Ubuntu might be "not optimal" and potentially not working below 900mV. Regardless of what is in BIOS, it works in Windows.

Any hints or tips, please throw my way.  Is there anything in Ubuntu like HWINFO64 in Windows ? How can I display parameters of AMD RX570/580, such as frequencies, voltages etc ?

So when will you add support for cpu mining? There just sitting why not use the cpu to mine too!

Hi,

I am using Asrock H81 Pro BTC 2.0 motherboard with AMD RX470 8GB Mining Edition cards. I am powering the rig with 2 x Corsair 750W power supplies. The primary power supply powers the CPU, motherboard, risers for 3 GPUs and 3 GPUs itself. The secondary PSU powers 3 risers and its respective GPUs. I am running SMOS obviously but for some strange reason, my rig does not detect all 6 cards. I have tried rebooting and this takes the number of active cards up and down but I have not been able to get 6 cards to work. The new mining edition cards have some LEDs at the back. I can see the white LED is up for all 6 but there is a green LED at the back which is lit up for 5 cards only. For the one that does not light up, I have changed the riser, provided it power through an exclusive cable (rather than powering 2 GPUs with one cable) but nothing seems to work.

Any help would be appreciated.
