So my question is this,as a gambler what mistake have you made when gambling that prevented you from winning big.
Let's discuss.
As a gambler the mistake I can remember making that pained me the most was when I went with a friend to a sportsbook to place a bet on some games. While he was confident that his bet was going to win him money, I was very sceptical about it because he was betting on so many games at the same time and for little amount of money. I I didn't trust his judgement enough to follow him to make the bet even when he try to convince me to. The next day fortunately for him and sadly for me he won a lot of money and I didn't win. I had regrets at that time because I felt that if I had listened to him and followed his footsteps I would have also won a lot of money too. This was a mistake that prevented me from winning big.

and I within a few days grew to hate betting in casinos a little and preferring to do sports betting for a while after that painful incident.
A little hate or are you disappointed because you don't trust betting instincts? it must be painful, almost everyone will be fed up with the decisions we make. It's just that rather than moving to another bet, in my opinion, it would be more effective if you rest mentally for a moment, with conditions that are quite unfavorable, of course you will continue to be overshadowed by that moment. As if to bring yourself back into the same game to pursue something big

Yup, it's quite better to rest for a while after that incident instead of moving to another bet, the frustration may trigger you to just simply put your bet without fully analysing the game and it will create danger to you, though it happens to most gamblers, out of frustrations they wanted to push their way and for some they will manage to win and forget the mistake as quick as possible while for those who suffer to lose it will add up to the burden of regrets.

As a gambler,I know that we have done so many mistakes in the pass base on our bets and wrong strategy or calculations that we have done which led to losing the game that was suppose to make you win big. I want to use myself as an example,I love sportbet and I bet more on it. Last months I placed my bet on 7 games that was to be played for two days. When the 5th game was played, all matches came out as predicted and I was called by the casino,to offer me a cash out of $200 in my local currency and I refused it because if the other two games was played and the I got the predictions right. I will win $1200,so I turned the offer down. The painful part of it was that the two games were to kick off on the same time, and after the games,my prediction for the two games was wrong. I felt so bad because I allowed greed to control my emotion. For this reason,I having decided that when ever I have an opportunity to cash out again,I will always go for it,instead of thinking that I can win all the money.
So my question is this,as a gambler what mistake have you made when gambling that prevented you from winning big.
Let's discuss.

I had once made 12 correct guesses in a row at a fiat bookmaker, it got to the point where I had about $500 guaranteed and decided to just bet the opposite of each extra selection (to 20 questions I think?). Managed to get the majority of them right but it would have ended up bringing in thousands, if not tens of thousands, if I had just continued to make uncovered selections. However I can't say it's a major regret because I was still happy to walk away with that amount for free. I've made a few bets over the years that looked really promising at the time and I should have added more on, but you simply never know when the odds will go against you in this game.

I assume the common mistake people make when gambling is not quitting when you’re ahead. I personally don’t gamble with very large amounts, but occasionally I will hit a decent win and get some coin. For me though, when I get some house money I don’t cash out and celebrate, I look for that life changing score and give it all back. I don’t gamble for the money, so for me it’s the ‘what if’ that drives me to consistently lose winnings.

I feel the same, like OP is blaming himself for not taking the deal and continuing to bet, while this is what 90% of gamblers consistently do. It's just the way it is. We always overestimate our chances, which is why lotteries keep working and making money for the people that run them. Players don't understand what 1:2 million means. For them it could as well be 1:2000.
If people were taking small wins and being happy with them there would be much less bankrupt gamblers out there.

Just to be open here, I've had recent winnings but not the way or amount I actually wanted. Recently, it has been greed, and I feel very bad for being greedy. I had a chance nto cash out a higher and huge amount twenty times better than my staking power but I was hoping the big one would come through. I ended up losing both of them at the same time. I was paranoid to an extent, but they're no longer regrets but lessons.

One thing always at the back of my mind when I gamble is either a win or loose. Even without European Competitive game's ongoing, I've learnt a whole lot from Non-European Leagues in preparations for the start of the Premier League, Spanish League and other top European Clubs to begin them League game's.

Lastly, it's very detrimental to gamble whenever you're in a dire need to pay your debts, pressured in anyway. Nothing beats it whenever it comes to fun betting, you have no blood pressure and keep you at peace. Pressured betting will only get you in a detrimental situation loosing racks upon racks.

This is really a funny experience, but I'll share it. I am sometimes buying lottery tickets, as it is really known here in our country, in which we need to guess those 3 digit numbers, so while going to the lottery, I saw a newly opened bakeshop near it, but because I didn't bring all my money, I decided to lower my bet and purchase a bread and eat it there just to try it out, so I bet only small amount, and then after a few hours, the result came out, which I won with only a small amount as my bet was small, and I am very pissed on what I've done. If I just bet it all and then go back to my house to get money and buy bread, it is still not a mistake; it is just not my will to win that huge money that time.

I would say you were unlucky to an extent that your luck had faded away. You were hungry and you didn't have the required money to place bet. This is how lord and luck plays when they don't want you to make it. I really felt sad for what happened to you on that day. You won but you didn't win big because of the circumstances that surrounded you at that time. I am sure many members here would be able to relate to this situation. I can relate to such a situation as it is not related to gambling I am not sharing it here.

there are several stories of bad experiences that I have had in the past few weeks and all of them are too bad to tell because it will only hurt to remember those stories.
but because I want to share my experience I will try my bad experience which prevented me from getting big wins when I bet on roulette. at that time I had a losing streak and I tried to deposit another $30 worth of money and tried to bet on one number which I thought was a lucky number and at that time I was playing extreme roulette and before the ball was spun I had doubts about that number and moved to another number and it turned out that the first number I chose got a multiplier of 1000x and the little ball stopped at that number and I felt very sorry to blame myself when $30 could have become $30k but my mistake was to move my bet

and I within a few days grew to hate betting in casinos a little and preferring to do sports betting for a while after that painful incident.

For this reason,I having decided that when ever I have an opportunity to cash out again,I will always go for it,instead of thinking that I can win all the money.
I have similar experience multiple times which am sure it will be difficult for me to even prevent because I always have confidence that am going to win when gambling. Most gamblers are greedy and when they are gambling and they noticed that the first few games which they bet on is in favor of them, even if they are given the opportunity to cash out, they won’t want to do that, they will rather want to wait for all the matches they bet on to end so that they will go home with full amount and not half. But sometimes it’s just better we are not being greedy, it’s better we are satisfied with the little we are having.

Sometimes things like this happen when the difficult matches have being played and you are left with the once you are having believe that your prediction is going to be correct, but at the end the least expected match is the one that’s going spoil all your bet.

I've had an experience that I think I've moved on and accepted already, but there were times that it crossed my mind randomly  and then i feel regret. That personal experience humbled me and it made me rethink my values. The mistake that I made that prevented me from earning big profit is my greediness together with my lack of research about the game. Basically it was a rush decision for me to make because of FOMO. Though I managed to somehow secure a good amount during that time wherein the exchange is high. However, i was so greedy and didn't withdraw until the exchange becomes so low that I can't bear to exchange it thinking that it could skyrocket again.

But it didnt.

So it was a lesson learned the hard way for me. Which made me think that i should've listened to the criticisms to avoid learning in a painful way. Learning first hand isn't always so great afterall. Sometimes learning from others experience could be as good.

I am not sure if I was able to make big and there's this point of my gambling life that I was about to hit a big win.

In dice, doubt has always stood in the way of a big win. When I have a strong feeling that 9900x is just a few bets away, I don't put a wager out of fear of "what if." The same thing happens with 99x every time.
Maybe that's also one of my what if, when it's with the dice. When I was carefree and just doing some YOLO, that's just like an almost win but not certain with those prevented me from winning big amounts.

It is normal for us to feel afraid to place another bet, especially after we have experienced previous consecutive losses. It will make us psychologically say this has gone too far, and we have to stop, so we really stop. But only a few people still take the risk to continue betting because they know that whatever happens in the next round could bring them luck or loss, and they can accept it. It is this acceptance factor that only a small percentage of gamblers can land a big win after hitting their last spin button. And it was truly a victory they had not expected.

Forget everything you think you know, keep playing with what you can afford to lose, you will only win when you don't expect, this is not a strategy game, there is a different here and it sucks that many don't understand this.
I was thinking this. It is gambling, and no matter how many mistakes that every gambler here is able to identify and try not to make again to prevent losing, it does not still give assurance of winning. There are many factors to winning and majorly there are the ones that you cannot control, so it is mostly not just about identifying mistakes that cost you, but having fun very importantly while you gamble and hoping that things go your way when you play.

Its just luck always matter here since even if we are skilled enough to know or familiarize the game we cannot still assure to win if we are not lucky when the time we are playing. Also if we can't able to control ourselves like placing some good bets on particular game since we want to rush all things and want immediate big gains then this is bad decision since we will not go any far from that since we could lose all we have instantly. So instead of aiming big much really better that if we just enjoy the game and let those big earnings came if we hit one time big jackpot prize on the games we played.

But this is also what individuals perceive subjectively and why they decide to keep going, often times until they lose. The casinos set up their odds such that they usually never lose. For them it is based on on RTP rate and I think that even applies to the odds in sports betting. If they get their algorithms right and also the limits they apply to individual players, they can go forever while the players cannot.

The issue with greed when you got something wrong and then feel bad is that it could have gone otherwise and then greed would have been your savior. It all goes back to time being against the player. The longer someone plays, the higher the chances that a losing streak kicks in. What you call bad greed this round could be good greed next round because you kept going and then won. In the games that involve more skill it is easier to talk about mistakes of course.

No game was supposed to make you win big, that's wrong, you are gambling and you should know that it's called gambling for that reason, it's either you win or you lose, there is no amount of strategy that works when are gambling on any online casino, you will still lose anyways, and the only way forward is to keep playing is such a manner that wont hurt you, forget what you think you know, when it comes to gambling, no one knows anything, this is a game of luck, you need to care about yourself first because this shit will keep taking from you, just make sure it takes what isn't killing you softly.

Forget everything you think you know, keep playing with what you can afford to lose, you will only win when you don't expect, this is not a strategy game, there is a different here and it sucks that many don't understand this.

Do you remember the odds of those two games? Because depending on the odds this may not have been a bad choice, after all casinos are not really a charity or anything like that, so if they were offering you 200 dollars that is because they thought it was better for them to offer you that money instead of taking the risk of losing 1200 dollars, now about your question I have experimented some bad losses especially when playing poker, and when things seemed to go in the right direction suddenly everything changed as my opponent got the cards they needed and I lost unexpectedly.
