According to some recent news Mercedes and Hamilton sat at the table to discuss terms about a new contract. If I'm not mistaken this is his last year at Mercedes. But it doesn't seem like he is getting the 8th world championship in his career now. Mercedes are way behind Red Bull now so there is really no way to do it. But Hamilton can still stay longer to give another chance to Mercedes for improving more.

But it is said that they couldn't reach an agreement for now due to the financial details of a new contract. Most probably Mercedes don't want to offer a contract similar to the old ones and Hamilton demands a lot of money from them. But I don't know if Mercedes are ready yet to let Hamilton go this easy. Having two solid drivers is very advantageous for them in the end.

If Hamilton leaves I wonder who Mercedes' choice would be. Ricciardo or Mick? Honestly my choice would be Ricciardo as he is much more experienced and skilled.

Apart from Ferrari's being still a problematic team I would like to point out a fact about Leclerc also. It really started to feel like Leclerc will have a huge difficulty in winning a championship even if his car gets faster than Red Bull's. Because the number of simple mistakes he makes continues to increase. The Azerbaijan GP weekend must be one of the greatest examples for that.

When you have and underperforming car is easier to make mistakes.
Look at Verstappen years ago and how many mistakes he was doing before having a competitive RedBull.

When you have a competitive car you can even go slower because you know that later in the races they can't do anything to beat you while if you have and underperforming car you need to give 100% at every turn and it is easier to make mistakes.

He literally made the same mistake twice in free practice and qualifying sessions. He also stated his sorrow about these mistakes. He needs to get over these things as soon as possible. He needs to be a much more concentrated driver than this. Because Formula 1 is a sport that really doesn't forgive this kind of mistakes.

Ferrari just had a "bad" start due to unlucky results, like crashes and so forth, not because their car was bad, that is different. Red Bull could have crashed as well, if other driver hits you and puts you into the dirt then there is nothing you can do, the car is not built to get out of there, it's built to drive on the road, so when you once get in there, you can't get out and your car is gone. This is why it's important to remember that the best thing to do would be making sure that you do not have it again on next races.

We have seen that they are as good as third team and possibly second best team and that means if they can finish the races, both of them at the same time, then they are going to go back to being the second best team in points again.

They also need to greatly improve their tire management as we saw in this last race in Miami that Verstappen just made the stop because the regulation says so or he could as well have ended the race on the hard tire compound as the tires were behaving extremely well and they are very gentle in Redbull while in Ferrari Sainz is complaining every single race for tire degradation that is happening way to fast at Ferrari.I am sure they have a great car and they were about to show us the "massive" performance upgrade before this race was cancelled so we have to wait further to see this upgrade in action.

In fact, Ferrari did not start the 2023 season well, but I agree with Sainz's statement when he stated that they are working hard to find answers to the problems faced and try to balance the dispute with Red Bull in the next races.
I've been a big fan of Ferrari since before the championship started, but unfortunately in the first five races of the year, the best result that the Italian team achieved was Leclerc's third place in the Azerbaijan GP. Ferrari is only fourth in the constructors' championship with 78 points.

It is a pity that the Emilia-Romagna GP was cancelled, as Ferrari had the opportunity to contest three consecutive races at home, but there are still two left and the support of the fans must be fundamental to encourage Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz to seek good results .

It will take years for Ferrari to find their answers and catch up with Red Bull. Even Vasseur admits that they might struggle in the next few years to be able to stay on the top board and compete with other teams. But even so, Ferrari still has the potential to be able to get back to their glory days. They have assets and a principal team that understands how to communicate well with their drivers. This can be the key for Ferrari to be able to get the world title, after they can solve various problems with their car, and many people are optimistic about this.

I just saw the news as I was watching TV while drinking the morning coffee with some colleagues and we were all astonished to see such happening.Having to cancel such a legendary GP it must be truly flooded and with heavy rains as we were seeing all over the news.It is a shame as this is a super technical track and it would sure have sparked some good overtaking but the good thing if I can call it a good thing is that now the teams will have more time to prepare their upgrades which of course we will not see right into the next race as the next race is Monaco a really low speed track,in the race after it though we are going to see the true performance upgrade of all teams.

I agree that it was the right call for the Imola GP. There is no need to push your luck under these circumstances. After this GP has been removed from the calendar I wonder if there will be a new race added to it in its place. There will be a big break in August actually if they would like to do such thing but I don't know. The calendar is already tight itself right now so FIA might not want to make things more difficult for teams and drivers.

When it comes to the Monaco GP up next, still Leclerc's incident comes to my mind. Ferrari's making a huge mistake by calling Sainz and Leclerc to pit at the same time... Really unbelievable! And the same Ferrari are still dealing with similar strategy issues so I won't be surprised if we see another fiasco.

But at least the new pit crew are doing their job really impressively.  Smiley

I feel like this was the right approach but to what end is the one that matters. Obviously there is a full on rain and it's at dangerous levels and I am glad that they cancelled it, that's good and that's understandable. However, will the season be one race shorter, or will they put it back again later on somehow somewhere?

By the looks of it, the decision is to just cancel it and have the season one race shorter basically, just forget about this one, and I think that's not good enough at all. I know that it's going to be a tough to put it back in in the middle, but I think it should be reconsidered, just cancel and that's it, that's not a good way to go about it. Cancelling the race for this weekend makes sense, but it should be put back between another two races.

The GP of Imala has been deleted due to the alluvium going on near the city.

It has been deleted and not postponed.

Yeah I have also read the news about this decision. It looks like the area has been flooded and the officials are having big problems on taking things under control after this serious incident. They are worried about the weekend as well so they thought it would be the best to cancel this weekend instead of postponing it to a certain date. The Grand Prix can still be organized again in some part of the season later on of course. But for now the next race is the Monaco GP which is a week later.

We have another street race up next and this one is a really difficult one for the drivers as well because overtakes are near impossible. It looks like we will have another GP in Monaco with big tactical wars.
Emilia Romagnia GP will not happen this season, F1 isn't going to move it to new date.
This announcement is shock for me, I had no idea what's happening in Italy now and I was already wating for race weekend. But you understand that things is serious when they cancel whole GP, F1 isn't on their priorities list now.
Next race is Monaco when most things will be decided on Saturday and only big game changer on Sunday can be safety car.

Bagnaia is racing very poorly, in the last month.
He throw so many points, he could have easily 60 more points.
~
About the penalty, he should paid it today imho.

Exactly Bagnaia has lost a lot of points due to his many crashes in the last races, at the last race it was a stupid racing accident with Vinales, that can happen is just annoying.

The podium was once again pure Ducati, and what can we say about Marc Marquez, who threw his bike into the gravel with 2 laps to go, karma.

Bezzechi did a super awesome and perfect race yesterday as he got away quickly and never looked back, now he is just 1 point behind Bagnaia and Bagnaia should start to perform again or things will become difficult for him if he continues with such performances.

Bezzechi and Bagnaia are actually tough riders and are the same in terms of their education at the VR46 academy. But now they have to compete with each other to be the best in every race this season. Now the MotoGP teams have started to have some free time because the next race will take place next month, at Mugello, Italy to be precise where it is the home of Ducati and of course Ducati will try its best to get better results than Le Mans.

Apart from that, I was also very impressed with the performance of a rookie at the Le Mans race because a rider named Augusto Fernandez who is part of the Gasgas team managed to place fourth in the race at Le Mans. That includes a very extraordinary result for a rookie in such racing conditions.

Yesterday was not Bagnaia fault as it was a pure race incident, any other rider would have done the same trying to defend his position on the grid exactly because he had been performing poorly lately and throwing away many points. That is why there was a rage moment where Bagnaia hit the rider bringing him down but then everything was settled and they even shake hands together as they came with the same bike in the pit lane.

As for the penalty for Bagnaia I haven't found it yet either, but I have just found one for Alex Marquez where he was punished by the FIM Steward panel for going down three grids in the next race at Mugello. This was given because of his aggressive maneuvers on yesterday's first lap so that Alex Marquez touched Brad Binder and Johan Zarco so that the penalty for Alex Marquez was decided, although I also really regret that Alex Marquez did not get points in yesterday's race due to an accident with Luca Marini. Monza on the way next week, lets see how it will go but Max is pretty great at this as well. To be fair when you have someone who eats sleeps and only thinks about racing, you do end up with a pretty great driver, this dude once got out of a race, got home, and then raced at iracing, I highly doubt we have too many people like that, I even doubt he has any moments in his day that is outside of racing.

However, Monza is something he specially likes, because it's a decent long and very well made track that has been there and I think he likes it when it has been around for a very long time, he memorized it by heart with everything and knows the difference in his car and will probably win by 10+ seconds easily at least to Perez, probably 20+ to any other teams driver.

It is not Monza but Imola in Emilia Romagna, usually Monza is in September after the Spa Francochamps in Belgium. This track is a twisty and technical track and it promises a great race as it was last year where Ferrari clearly with Leclerc could not keep up the pressure from the fans and he got and made two errors which cost him from 2nd or 3rd place to 7th and it started and ended a good streak from Ferrari.

Perez is a great driver but he never have shown something in such tracks which are highly technical,he has not been showing a great performance in every team he has been so far and also in Redbull, however based on the Redbull performance will be again most likely a 1-2 for Redbull.
