People are going to think that FIA did everything for Verstappen to win the title this season from now on. And some people are also going to say that FIA were doing much more than this to help Hamilton win some of his titles. And I can't blame any of this kind of people because FIA's calls were really unbelievable from time to time. They have been making big mistakes sometimes and it costs Hamilton the title now.

It has been known since the start of the season that Red Bull will not be using Honda engine perse, but their own engine. They purchased the factory the formula 1 engines were manufactured for Honda, which in return means Red Bull basically has their own engine factory nowadays, it is still Honda obviously and they hired their staff and all, it is just that the costs will be paid by Red Bull and not Honda, so Honda will not be paying for that factory anymore but will not be getting the profits from it neither, whereas Red Bull will have to pay for it but they will not be paying Honda anymore. It is still sort of the same thing, doesn't really change much if you ask me.
It's just about two big companies that are making achievements and profits for each year, so for a certainty it will be known at the beginning of the year before the race starts because I was also surprised when there was news that Honda would withdraw from F1 which in fact is still questionable.

F1 is also no longer what it used to be... Unfortunately!
The last few years my interest has somehow decreased.
The cars alone are no longer what they used to be.
I mean clearly technical progress is perfectly normal and important. But the old V8 or V10 engines are simply legendary.
For me the greatest F1 driver was Michael Schuhmacher, but since he retired from F1, I have never again found someone as great as him.

Ok, Mercedes withdrew his appeal under Hamilton pressure.

It is over, Max is the champion.

It is no surprise that the champion didn't change. Maybe FIA would have decided that Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton would share the championship. But it would have been really awkward at the same time.  Grin  I heard some time ago that Hamilton didn't want Mercedes to object to the final decision once more. It looks like Mercedes cared about his personal opinion. They should already have known that the final decision wouldn't change from now on. If it did, it would have happened after the first objection.

^  RBR took over the works premises where they build and develop the engines, including all the engineers and other key staff who work in it afaik.  So it’s not like they’re going to be ‘lost’ in building and developing the engines.  It’s really a serious attempt from RBR to be an engineering and tech company.  It’s a total 180 from just being a team in F1 to advertise energy drinks.

If I remember correctly, Honda will lease the base engine to the red bull.
The basic engines will be the same until 2026 but can be developed, especially in the electrical part, every certain time period.
Honda will no longer do this development for Red Bull but Red Bull will have to do it on their own, like a real team.

Maybe Honda are going to let Red Bull use their engine in the next season also but I wonder what will happen after the next season. Red Bull can keep being one of the strongest teams in the next season I guess. But after that, they will have to build and develop their own engine. And if they don't build an engine as good as Honda's in the worst case, then they might start having big problems. And we might even see Verstappen joining a bigger team of that time then.

The last driver to become world champion using a Honda engine was Ayrton Senna in the 1991 F1 season... The success of leading Max Verstappen to become the 2021 F1 world champion is also a perfect cover for Honda...(After 30 years without a Champion)

Since some time ago Honda has stated that it will leave F1 racing after the 2021 season ends... Honda decided to leave F1 in 2020 ago.. In a statement, Honda said the decision to leave F1 was because the automotive industry underwent a period of enormous transformation in a hundred years ...

I am a McLaren fan here and regarding 2008 it would have been totally undeserved for Massa to win the title at that time.Every single duel on track against Hamilton he came out as a loser and he had the better car back then,Ferrari was just a bit better than McLaren. It was only luck that sought Massa to fight for the title and the funny thing was the local Brazilians gifted to Hamilton a Vasco de Gamma T-shirt meaning they were the eternal seconds in Brazil Serie A so hopefully even Hamilton was going to have a fate like that.Hamilton accepted it and he didn't care at all about that superstition and he became World Champion.

For 2021 I cannot say that Lewis deserved the title more than Max or Max more than Lewis but circumstances brought the title to Max and that is it,just that.
I already don't remember whole 2008 season as good as you, so, I won't argue whether Massa was worth to win it or no. But the way he lost title was really heartbreaking. Winning last race at home track, Ferrari already started to celebrate title and then Timo Glock happened.
And I didn't hear story about Vasco de Gamma T-shirt, that's interesting story.

Honda will be continuing to develop their F1 power unit for Red Bull team. This means that we are going to be watching Red Bull drivers to use a car with an improved version of the same Honda engine. And by doing this, Red Bull can be very assertive for the title next season again.

Maybe. It's anyone's guess really which team (if any) will be dominant when the new regulations come in. Mercedes would certainly appear to be the most likely to come out ahead though. As for Red Bull, a lot of their high performance this season was relative - because Mercedes were hit so hard with the changes affecting low-rake cars differently to high-rake, which is not a thing that can quickly be designed out. And another part of Red Bull's performance this year was due to the flexible wing that got banned by the time of the French GP I think. A lot of people notice Mercedes did much better in the second half of the season, and think this was mainly due to a Merc upgrade... but a large part is surely due to the RB downgrade.

I really hope we see several different teams fighting it out next year. We don't want to go back to a situation where one team is by far the best.

New regulations have been told to the teams some time ago and they had all the time to prepare well for the 2022 season where supposedly we should see these new regulations come in.I too hope for a more open Championship where we can have more than 3 teams fighting for the title and not like this year where except Monza and Hungaroring all other races were dominated by Redbull and Mercedes.

Then congrats to Verstappen on his championship after a superb journey! I like Hamilton too but I really wanted to see something changing in the season we've just left behind. I'm really thankful for Verstappen as he did this. From now on, the biggest thing I'll be wondering is going to be whether the other teams and drivers will be approaching the level of Verstappen and Hamilton in the next season.

I don't think that Mercedes will do an appeal anymore. It is obvious that FIA won't be accepting their mistake. They will just move on like nothing happened especially in last moments of the race. I don't want the winner to change of course but FIA should have confirmed that they made a big mistake there. They are just losing their credibility by doing this.

It is not clear yet if Mercedes will do an appeal or not but if they will do they will have a very solid case from his side.

The article where they will go if they will go is the 1.1.1 and basically, it says "Safety and sporting equity".

The decision of let pass the safety car by only 5 cars go against the equity regulated on this article.

Max Verstappen stated that Toto Wolff contacted him and congratulated him on his title. And he said to Verstappen that he really deserved this title. It is a really good example and Verstappen also seemed grateful about this. There is no need for any hostility between any teams or drivers. It was not Verstappen's fault in the end and I believe Hamilton is also aware of this. He is just disappointed with FIA's doings.

The thing about the last contraversy is that Max had nothing to do with it, nobody is mad at max for winning that race the way he did, they are mad at FIA for sure but Max did his best with the time given to him and that is 100% understandable.

Lewis and Mercedes realized that as well, plus this gave Lewis the likability that he so much needed, sure Lewis fans loved him already but others who wanted someone else to win championship for once ended up liking him for how he responded. Dude was calm when he was talking, he didn't step out during ceremony and sprayed Max with champagne just to show his calm nature and basically he got a lot of respect for how he handled it.

He could always come back and win next year, the engines are not changing much, sure the car design is changing but the reality is that Mercedes will probably still have the best car and that shows how Lewis could win again, and this time going to have a different and aggressive teammate with him.

I wanted a change and a new winner, but at the same time, my preferred champion would have been 'anyone but Verstappen'. He's a really fast driver, but he just seems like a dick, in the same way that Schumacher used to.  If all drivers had had a chance, I'd have probably liked Kimi or Alonso to win the title. But the one I still want to win, even though he's not there racing any more, is Massa, after that championship decider in Brazil all those years ago.
Red Bull is my team, but I'm not really big fan of Verstappen personality. He is really amazing driver, but yeah, he is a dick. Though, without being a dick, probably he wouldn't become world champion.
I was amazed to see how professional Lewis reacted after loss on Sunday, hardly can imagine Max reacting in this way like Lewis did.
I like both Raikkonen and Alonso, but they're not easy personalities too. Offcourse, can't be compared with Schumacher or Verstappen.
And yeah, Massa loss in 2008 was probably most heartbraking thing in F1 history.
