^  This could be bad omen for Verstappen...  And he just signed a new contract tying him with with the team until 2028 too.  He should've kept his option open by after the third year as we really don't know what's going to happen.

I don't think it's going to be a major issue, I mean the two Red Bulls almost made it to the end. It's a concern, yes, but I think they'll fix it. They have a great car.

I know.  I was just thinking with the advent of Ferrari, what if it's three years of domination and that Verstappen starts getting frustrated and becomes unhappy with the team...  Something else can also happen, what if Adrian Newey retires and they get not so competitive cars.  Verstappen might have over commited.  Not even Hamilton would lock himself in a 6 year contract.  But maybe there's a clause.

But yeah I'm pretty sure RBR will come back better for the next race.

And I was wrong.  For some reason I thought Alpha Tauri had Ferrari engines again this year.  Anyway, yeah..  It's hard to get behind Verstappen from a betting perspective with the reliability issues.

It was really hell of a race! Verstappen had a very unfortunate race first of all. And Perez had the similar experience too. Both of them were out of the race while we were getting to the end. And Red Bull said that it was a problem related to fuel pump. And this race was so special for Ferrari and Leclerc. I appreciate Leclerc's solid performance here a lot. And it looks like this season is going to be Ferrari's season. By the way, Hamilton was so lucky about ending the race at the 3rd place too. But it looks like this is going to be a troubling season for Mercedes for now.

Basically you can say the performance of RedBull is very good and not far behind Ferrari, I like the fact that this year 3 teams are pretty much on the same level, I think Mercedes can still get something out of their car. Only thing that will give RedBull a headache is the stability of the Honda engine or the drive technology in general, 3/4 failure of the drive unit is very worrying and that at the first race.

I certainly hope that the injury he suffered will improve soon so that he can return to participate in the moto GP event. btw, the rain this afternoon (eastern Indonesia time) really delayed a lot of time and thank goodness the rain stopped before nightfall.

This is a snapshot of the lightning that struck the circuit during the rain earlier, fortunately, there were no casualties https://twitter.com/MotoGP/status/1505482724601176064
It's quite sad because of Marquez, the news I heard he has a brain injury. Indeed, if you see the fall, it is really terrible. It seems that the left right double bend is quite difficult if the motor engine is still in high speed, it needs braking quite hard there.  May he recover soon, he is still able to compete but his fate is unlucky.
For the net of the race, yes I guess the big power bike will dominate the result of the race a lot, this is evident. It seems that the rain is enough to make the race even more interesting. You may also be surprised that there are some television broadcasts that show the activities of a woman walking in the rain shouting and making unusual movements. Yes it's customary / diversity indonesia they beg the rain to stop immediately.

There weren't many surprises from the MotoGp rookies this season, but in terms of achieving the number of points, Darryn Binder had a chance to fight back in terms of taking the top 10 position yesterday in the race at the Mandalika circuit.
And he managed to finish in 10th place so he could get 6 points in yesterday's Race, while Remy Gardner did not get any points after finishing at the bottom even though he did get 1 point at the Qatar Grandprix after finishing 15th.

Darryn Binder has been criticised a lot for going straight from Moto3 to MotoGP, which is almost impossible normally and also not recommended by the character of the bike. But Darryn Binder can only respond on the track and score points without crashing or throwing someone else out, keep it up.

Report from last year about Darryn Binder from other MotoGP riders.

Formula 2 is definitely 100 years behind F1 right now. Today’s despicable showing proved us that money going into formula is very little for what it could actually achieve. Since it is not a program that makes enough profit, and constantly loses money (big clubs loses like 2-3 million euro per year) that means we do not have the best of the best there.

We have whatever and whoever they can afford to. The tire going off, the constantly failing of putting on the tires. VIPs for example would have been the clear winner today if team didn't screw it up, dude definitely deserved it. Pit was horrible today in almost every team and sad to see.

redbull and mercedes are very elite clubs and sponsors in the world of sports, especially the f1 speed competition. setting redbull get one of them here which won 8 victories last year. we know mercedes did have a history of victory in 1952 and had a winning reputation from history, indeed mercedes excelled but in the near future it won't win in a row like redbull, a circuit that supports a solid team and The professionalism of the racers in conquering each route is a good achievement for Redbull, I'm happy. Whatever the analysis, friends, let us know from every season that has passed.

Let's not forget that Mercedes had problems last season, but the team was able to cope with them and make a competitive car for the second part of the season Wink Therefore, of course, Mercedes fans should be worried, but it's still too early to draw conclusions from the results of the first race of the season. As for the Red Bull, I would like to recall the situation of last season, when the cars had good speed, which was achieved by less reliability of the car, so I'm afraid that no matter how this situation happened again. But in any case, there has been a change of regulations and it is foolish to expect that the teams will not have problems with the reliability and settings of their cars.

That track is wonderful and super fast. The cars, the new cars of 2022 were a lot closer to each other and during this first race there were almost always different battles going on in different part of the track of Bahrain. In a track like in Saudi Arabia this is going to be even more emphasized. In theory that track should be in favor of Redbull as although Ferrari won today they had the fastest straight speed from what I saw.

Catastrophic result for McLaren and it looks like they missed completely with the new regulations, there is still time to recover but as they say the sun can be seen since early morning (McLaren fan here).

That track will be more dangerous with these cars than in the past year.

With the vacuum created this year with a small error, you will be in the barrier 1000% of the time.

There is concerning things for Red Bull - it's not about the pace, but 3 of 4 their cars haven't reached finish after engine related issues.

I've just heard that the FIA have changed the rules, so whoever retires from second place a couple of laps from the end is declared the winner. Cheesy

It's only sad to see Mclaren, who aren't competetive at all yet.

Yeah. I really wanted them to do well. It's not looking great for them at the moment. But anyway, nice to see Ferrari back where they belong.

What a return for Magnussen - P5.

My favourite thing from the race, I think. He deserves a drive and this was brilliant.

Damn, what a season opener. Well deserved win for Leclerc, but his fight with Verstappen in first part of race was epic. There is concerning things for Red Bull - it's not about the pace, but 3 of 4 their cars haven't reached finish after engine related issues.
I think Mercedes should be happy about today's result - P3 and P4 is best what they can achieve now.
What a return for Magnussen - P5. Can someone imagine Mazepin in P5? Cheesy And solid debut for Zhou, point in his 1st race.
It's only sad to see Mclaren, who aren't competetive at all yet.

Ferrari is back.

HONDA DISASTER 3 of the 6 cars out for engine problems.

Perhaps it will be Ferrari season and we will see a new champion. Hamilton showed his skills and was able to climb the podium even in such conditions. I'll wait until the bookmakers start publishing quotes for the end of the championship. Now they are faced with the most difficult analytical task  Grin

Awesome race and awesome win from Charles as it was a well deserved one.

Great result for Sainz as well as he really tried all the race to keep up with Max and he said after the race in the interview that Max was unfortunate and he really deserved his 2nd place but it is what it is.

Hamilton ...what can you say more about him ? You can never count this guy out and we all know this.

What a finish, that's too much drama. Red Bull failed big time at the end of the race. They lost both of their cars and second and fourth place in last two laps. Who expected that?
Ferrari is back to business. Leclerc and Sainz got first two spots, Hamilton is lucky to get to third place this time. New season started great.

very ironic for Verstappen who was in second place until there were only a few laps left but had to pull over due to car problems. Perez is also having problems even though there are only a little few laps left, it looks like the red bull team is really unlucky in the Bahrain race today.

I don't know why but i still consider Mercedes as the big favorite of Red Bull in this season overall

I can't see that at the moment. Red Bull have the far superior package, Mercedes are struggling. Their 3rd and 4th flattered them today, they are nowhere near as quick as Ferrari or Red Bull.
But over the course of the season (where development is permitted), yes, I would not be surprised to see them improve their car significantly. Their main issue seems to come from trying to compensate for the porpoising, for which they've lifted the car and so lost some downforce. If they can resolve this, I'm sure they'll be fighting for wins again. But as it stands right now, the Red Bull is way better (if it can just finish a race).

Congrats to Ferrari.  Good race for Leclerc and Sainz.  Hoping to see more from them for the rest of the season.

Verstappen would have easily ended the race in the second position, which is not to bad in my opinion so i don't think that this one race is letting him already regret his decision to stay at Red Bull for 6 more years. It is still true though that his was a very unlucky start for Verstappen and Red Bull. I don't know why but i still consider Mercedes as the big favorite of Red Bull in this season overall so it would have been a great start for Verstappen to finish 3rd while Hamilton is only 5th, but now Verstappen has made 0 points and Hamilton finished the race on the podium which is the absolute maximum that was possible with the performance of the mercedes this weekend.

Yep. It's always the big question at the start of the season...

will there be any reliability issues?

TBH though, I was certainly not expecting it to be Red Bull with the problems. Absolute disaster for them, and weird how both cars got hit at almost the exact same time.
I'm quite happy with this race, it's great to see Ferraris back where they belong, brilliant for Magnussen which I'm really happy about, I'm happy for Bottas to score some decent points too, and I have to admit a bit of schadenfreude at the misfortunes of the arrogant Verstappen.

But I do want Red Bull to fix their issue and have Max back at the front for the next race. What we don't want is a single team sailing away with it again, even if it is Ferrari.
