Verstappen doesn't surprise us as usual.  Grin  One-lap timing is the best thing Ferrari is at normally but it is still very difficult to beat Verstappen's time. Leclerc was able to beat his time quite often in the 2022 season. He got like 9 pole positions. But this dropped by half in the 2023 season. Now I don't even know if we will see Leclerc getting that many poles.

Ferrari has lost quite much power even in qualifying. They should start with gaining more speed here and later they can improve their race pace much more as well.  Smiley
Basically, the difference between the cars grew as well, this season Perez has been amazing, even last season he wasn't that great, and previous year too, but this season even Perez is second place in many races, or at least gets a lot of overtakes and finishes better than expected. I would assume that even Mclaren is at the level Ferrari is at right now, if Norris wasn't hit at the start of the race we could have seen him finish higher than at least one Ferrari car, maybe both of them.

At the end of the day, we are talking about a team (Ferrari) who is not getting better at all, which is a damn shame but that is the reality. Where Newey will go is the biggest question, will he retire a rich man, or will he continue? If he does, is it possible for Newey to go to Ferrari? A Charles-Hamilton-Newey trio could actually be amazing for Ferrari for sure.

Hamilton spoke in an interview a few days ago and spoke about Adrian Newy saying that it would be an honor for him and Ferrari to have him on the team after Redbull.

It would certainly be the lucky hit of the century for Ferrari to have both Hamilton and Adrian on the team at the same time.

In the latest interview though Newey at least in the F1 official Instagram page they have a photo of him and the statement in which he says that he does not exclude the possibility of taking a bit of vacation as he said all the work at Redbull, the battle against Mercedes in 2021 has made him a bit tired.Of course I would be happy that Ferrari would have Hamilton next year,as most likely Hamilton with the car that is done 0.150 seconds laps slower from other drivers most likely can be a Pole if Hamilton was driving it and no,no offense to the drivers of Ferrari yet this is what I read, all doubts will be clear in 2025.

The combination of Hamilton and Newy is the best gift for Ferrari, because as we know, Newey is one of the best engineers in F1 and his masterpieces have brought RB to become the best constructor several times and Hamilton is the holder of the F1 World Drivers' Championship titles 7 times. With this combination, it will not be impossible for Ferrari to achieve the title of best constructor in 2025 and the drivers' championship. Let's hope this combination will happen.

Once again Max did the fastest lap and got the poleposition.
Ferrari was very close but in the second attemp something happened to the track and it was more slippery infact not a single driver improved their timer with the new red tires.

Only Hamilton improved with harder tired, he did his fastest lap with the yellow tyres over the the red tyres.

Simply incredible... The only holder of pole positions in F1 this year continued again in ABSOLUTE fashion in search of his sixth victory this season. He  recorded a time of 1 minute 27 seconds and 241 milliseconds yesterday, and that was just 0s1 over Charles Leclerc who was in second place.

And speaking about Magnussem... he certainly "breathed a sigh of relief" this weekend when despite receiving three ten-second penalties for exceeding track limits and gaining an undue advantage against Lewis Hamilton, he was acquitted of the charge of unsportsmanlike conduct. Do you believe this punishment should have been maintained?

After the race, Magnussen admitted that the tactic used in Miami had already been employed in Saudi Arabia to benefit his teammate Nico Hulkenberg. The Dane did not contest the penalties, but his comments and the driving itself led to a call from the stewards to analyze the conduct

This means that the strategy will play a big role during today race and I hope Ferrari does not screw up like they have done several times when there is to gain they have gotten and lost points,I believe honestly much more in the drivers of Ferrari rather than the management there. The fact that Ferrari was so much near Verstappen with these partly upgrades they have done to their car makes me think that it won't be so easy for Verstappen and adding the uncertainty that some of the tires bring it is going hopefully to be a good one to watch, usually this has been a boring track but let's hope things changes exactly because of the slippery and tire behavior.

I think Miami track isn't the best place for Sprint race. It was nice to see him defending 4th place, but I think that he would stand no chance for such achievement in track like Monza.

I completely agree. This track definitely doesn't fit a sprint. It is so difficult to see overtakes. That was how Ricciardo kept the 4th place until the end. Sainz was right behind him all the time but he couldn't find a chance to go for a proper attack. There wasn't any sprint event in Miami last season and it should have stayed that way.  Sad

When it comes to the qualifying session Q3 was thrilling except the last moments. None of the drivers at top managed to use their last chance effectively. It was still nice to see Leclerc and Sainz capturing places in top 3.

I hope Ferrari have a good pace in the race also tonight. Perez is likely to make serious difficulties for them but we will see. The start could be a chaotic one though.  Tongue  It wouldn't be surprising to see another incident similar to the one in the sprint.

Verstappen for a change won the sprint race ahead of the Ferrari of Leclerc and his Redbull teammate.
Riccardo managed to maintain fourth position ahead of Sainz.
Disaster for Norris out at the first corner and cause of safety car, quite boring race, one of the worst sprint races so far since they were introduced.
Verstappen did not speak very well about the car, but he can manage to take pole in any way. It seems like he will close the week with maximum points again. Anyway, the formula 1 audience is divided into two. Those who watch f1 and those who watch f1.5. f1.5 is the race that is evaluated excluding Verstappen. Norris interestingly said that he is happy as if he won in races where he can finish in 2nd place behind max. Jokingly, verstappen opened a different level in f1. No matter what anyone says, the man is a machine and not someone who can be compared to anyone.

The Safety Car surely impacts for the bad small races like the sprints yet the track of Miami does not let you overtake that easily and that is why the track is boring,I remember last year season or the season before that where Ferrari was fighting to win races and they were attacked by a better Redbull and the Redbull took a lot of laps to overtake.I hope that the race of tomorrow is not of the same quality as the sprint or the races that we have raced here before, despite being a relatively new track still we have not seen a race full of emotions,I think the only good race from the USA is Austin,Texas, every other race has been boring in the USA.

Poor Norris, he was innocent here completely, same like Alonso who was in sandwich. First I thought, oh no, Stroll did something stupid again, but after replay it's clear that was Hamilton fault, strange that he didn't got penalty.

Ricciardo has been getting warnings by the team on his future there. As Tsunoda has been doing better than him for a while it can be said like Ricciardo has been given an ultimatum. If he doesn't start performing better he is likely to find himself at the door.  Sad  This performance was really good by him though. But we will see if this will be the start of a good series.

Of course it is too difficult for a Racing Bulls car to maintain this kind of a position. But he can at least keep up with Tsunoda and maybe even get a little better to secure his place in the team. But I don't know how much Ricciardo cares about getting sacked though as he isn't as competitive as in the past.

Did not expect Ricciardo to be at such a good place, but if I learned anything from watching f1 for this long, I can say that he has a huge risk. Cars behind him, at least a few of them, have better pace, which means that they will try to just go past him right on the first lap, even maybe first corner as soon as the race starts.

That poses some risks, because when the race starts fresh, overtaking is harder, when it is like lap 25 or something, it is just you and the other car and usually most often is on a straight, with drs, that is how majority of the overtakes are, here though on first lap, you get no drs, and it is almost always on the corners. If Ricciardo can end up being fourth by lap 3 or so, he would definitely end with a great result, but I fear that he may get hit by someone.

Ricciardo has a high rate of making an incident in the start of the Sprint race unless he is very careful and willing to let himself lose some positions in the beginning,he has Ferrari and McLaren behind him which should have absolutely no problem overtaking him in the very early stages of the Sprint race.Anyway this is just to entertain us as the official qualification starts today or better for us in Europe tonight at 22 PM so there is quite some time until then and I would love to see some really drastic changes in the top 10 of the starting grid for the race of tomorrow, that would assure us of some good racing and not a boring one,as I said before I am very much curious to see how the upgrade as benefited Ferrari although the full package will only be available at Imola later.

Life, Love and Laughter...
according to the latest news circulating in formula one we have some news.

Williams is trying to talk to Adria Newey to try to bring him home after so many years, but they are unlikely to succeed.
Max Vertappen said that he will not go to Mercedes neither for 250 million year if the car will be stuck for 5th 6th position.

Lolol.  Not happening tho I would love to see an old school team make a come back arc.  It would be good not just for the older guys watching this but also for the new guys.  But Newey ain't winning sht without a good team principal like Horner.  So it should be part of the deal if any team wants to hire Newey's services.

As for Verstappen...  I think no team would be willing to take a risk of getting him rn.  Not with the baggage he's carrying called Jos Verstappen.  The guy is somewhat of a control freak.

Anyway, any good leans and picks for this race?

Here we have the sprint qualifying results.

The weekend didn't start well for Leclerc indeed with a spin in FP1. However he returned with a really great performance. He finished the sprint qualifying session right behind Verstappen. It looks like Leclerc has started to show his best performances lately.  Smiley  But it feels like Perez will overtake him in the sprint. Ferrari still need to put much more to their racing pace.

Ricciardo was the biggest surprise of the session. Taking the 4th place with that car is really impressive. But it wouldn't be surprising to see him collecting 0 points from the sprint.  Tongue

Of course he would not love to be paid 250 million dollars and not win anything. The level this drivers fight is not for money anymore, they fight for pride and glory and this is something Mercedes cannot give him yet.He waited many years at Redbull before winning his first Championship and now he is winning his 4th with them,he makes enough money to make an easy life for generations to come if he is not stupid with money management, what he fights for is to become the greatest driver of all times,he has clearly expressed it and wants to achieve it with Redbull, until at least the end of 2025 he should be able to make the most out of such ambition.
