The majority of Races can't be without people at the circus.

Imagine racing in Monza or Spa where organizer pays 20ish milions € to have the race and earn 0 from the people at the race.

The only way to haveing races with no people is to be a billionaire who cares nothing about the money and own the circuit or to have FIA to give races to circuits for free.

So...  Anybody know if some of the races are gonna go as scheduled?  I think F1 could be the deadest sport in the middle of the outbreak.
Seems that France GP will be postponed too, because all public events are forbidden in France until middle of July.
It feels like this F1 season won start at all. Well maybe in autumn they will be able to held races, probably without spectators. But there a lot of crazy changes in calendar will be needed, with races almost every weekend. It will be nightmare in terms of logistics.

Postponed or cancelled?  Cos it looks like it's gonna be logisitcally impossible to reschedule some of the postponed GP's and fill them in between the scheduled races that haven't been postponed yet.
I think it's only matter of time when part of posponed GP's will be cancelled. There isn't just logistics. For example in some European tracks and Canada it will be impossible to held race in autumn because of cold weather. Also, GP's in city tracks like Baku or Singapore probably will be cancelled too because few months is needed just to prepare track.

Street circuits should prolly be cancelled cos there's no way they can go on 'behind closed doors.'.  So that's like what...  Three more races to be cancelled?

Anyway, what about our bet?  I'd like for it to go on only if you want to.  Grin

^^ In my opinion all races must be with closed doors.
Coronavirus has hit all countries around the world not only the European ones.
This measure is going to protect both the fans and the drivers - teams.

Austria this week became one of the first European counties to loosen restrictions, allowing thousands of shops to open, although people are still being advised to work from home if possible.

Meanwhile, the UK government announced on Thursday a three-week extension on its social distancing guidelines, as the virus spread has not yet peaked, while France has banned mass gatherings until mid-July.

At Austria the vice chancellor speak open about the Formula 1 GP at July without spectators, so i think that's one of the first GPs.

Sorry, but i can only find a article in German.

I can't see how an organization of a GP who pays 20m € will organize a GP if they can't get money back from the 200.000 people at the circuit.
We have already a lot of complaints for football games at closed doors a F1 GP without people I think is not possibile if anyone gives the money to the owner of the circuit.

At Austria GP is another starting point, the owner (Didi Mateschitz) don't need money  Grin Grin. But your point is correct i also see without payed fans no race...

The Austrian race too shall be canceled even though the Vice Chancellor of Austria is okay with a race without fans, and the reason I feel it’ll be canceled is because of the number of staff required to complete the race. In the Vice Chancellor’s own words around 1000+ support staff is required for the race, and I don’t think they will allow so many people to gather in the arena. Furthermore a race without fans is a disaster in the making, and I feel they should not go ahead with the race.

It may happen.Austria is one of the first countries to have lift some measures by opening shops less than 400 square meter big. They may as well allow 1000 persons that are strictly controlled 14 days before the event and they will also be restricted another 14 days in isolation after the event. This can be a solution.

More and more shops (also McDonald's with only McDrive) can open by us in Austria since this week, only to until the end of June major events are prohibited (at this time).

Also Christian Honer think about a possible race at Austria.

Will the 2020 season start in Austria with no fans? | Christian Horner, Carlos Sainz & Jenson Button

But it's correct a race without fans are a disaster, but basically it's about money.

I think logistics will be ready for whatever is needed to make a F1 Championship happen.I think the most difficult part will be on the drivers who will be racing weekend and I know that drivers only dream of driving but their concentration will not be in the maximum during the races because they won’t have much time to rest their brain.
F1 is my preferred sport so I really hope we see a season in 2020.

It is very interesting to see their simulator practice.
However, I cannot see it right now... Is it available to see it after it ends? I am not familiar with this twitch platform but I would love to join it if F1 drivers are there!

His last video/stream is this one https://www.twitch.tv/videos/588300021 I didn't watch live or the vod so IDK what was the announcement he was talking about.

I just saw F1 official instagram page showing that high officials of F1 think they can still run a 18 race Championship if we start at least in the end of June beginning of July.It will be tough but we plan to race 3 weekends on and one weekend off.

I hope this comes true for all us F1 fans.

@swogerino this is amazing news for all the F1 fans, and I personally believe that COVID-19 impact may be reduced by May end so let’s hope and pray for the best.
